Always glad to catch a video. Have a great 2025!
If moseying to bed at 9pm makes one "an old guy", what does my 8 to 8:30 mosey shuffle toward bed mean...I'm elderly😂. My bet is still on 3V for that blade, which if I'm right implies using an S45 heat treat will get you 58.5 hrc on 3V - not too too bad. Always 👍👊
@@MitchBollig 👊😎 thanks Mitch. It’s all a learning curve so Im not upset with the results Definitely need to improve before I start to let em outta the shop. Still will be fun to see how it works for an around the house folder
Some jack ass talks about the shit he did this week 😂😂 great video my brother 🤘🤘
@@markparks9996 too much brutal honesty 🤔 nah. Just feeling goofy and let it fly out. Thanks Mark😎👊🤘🤘
I'm not much on fixed blades either and I like frame lock folders better also my friend.
@@BluetoothBlades I am really dialed into what I currently like. Some people just don’t understand it but to each their own right. Thanks for checking in Steve👊😎🤘🤘
I'm a culty, deep cut kinda person too and have a lot of "special" items, so I can relate to what you're saying with going production, but it's still a sweet knife and you do have the saying on it, so it's still got some status I think.
@@Gman1024 thanks Gman. I feel it’s only a matter of time before it goes at this point but I would much rather have a custom instead so it didn’t take much to push me in that direction
Man, I sure do appreciate you grinding those knives for Shayne. I have one of them coming and it looks amazing. Thanks Dave. Anyway another fun video 👍🔥🔥🔥🤘
@@paulmills426 he did a superb job with the heat treat as far as I could tell. Hope you enjoy it
A large blade can do everything..appreciate you Barefoot..keep grinding brother
@@CrispyCritter04 thanks bro. Hope you have a great week 😎👊🤘🤘
Always fun whether you’re showing off different knives or simply rambling. It makes sense that taking a blade from basically just a general shape to a ground bevel, ready to put a finished edge knife would be significantly different than doing a regrind. I equate it to doing repair work in carpentry as opposed to building something new, there’s different skills that are required. Hope you have a great week Dave!
@@jeffreydawson4520 thanks Jeff. As almost every aspect of making it has a learning curve. Feel like the last few I really dialed in what I was trying to accomplish. Hope you have a great week too bro👊🤘🤘😎
Have a great week homie!
@@paullmight42 thanks Paul. Hope you have a great one too bro 👊😎
Actually watched it while getting ready this time around lol.

Man I'm laying down for bed at 9 myself these days. Great video as always bro. Have a great week!😊
@@nicholasedwardbehindtheedg2343 thanks Nick. Was feeling goofy this morning. Hope you have a great week too bro 😎👊🤘🤘
I don’t have the head to pull off those caps. We were in a golf store and I tried one on and Kev was like nope. Haha. Man if I had a heat treat oven I’d waste so much steel
@@ScotchNThings remains to be seen how much I ruin too bro😎👊🤘🤘

@@GrumpyGrunt thanks brother Grumpy👊😎. We got to ride the bikes to dinner last night so we have nothing to complain about down here. Stay warm and safe 🤘🤘
Funny thing is, when I was doing the preferences video, I thought you would enjoy how long it was 🤣. May me smile when you confirmed that thought. It's like how much I like your videos. It's a stream of thoughts about knives and related subjects, and I love seeing where it will go. Knife rambles are where it's at.
@@Ken_Faulkner exactly. Just start spewing out the mouth and listen back for the stream of consciousness that comes out😂🤣. Really did enjoy your video too😎🤘🤘
@satudave thanks. I think I will do more of this in the mix. Like you said, it's about having fun.
Rant away bro, will always be listening😆👊👊✌
@@meursault1654 thanks Evan😎👊🤘🤘
That flew by. You’re almost like Shayne’s not-so-secret OEM. Haha have a good week Dave
@@5door his heat treat seems super good to me. He is already way ahead of me in that respect so I’m just helping him with one aspect of the process. I am more than sure I will be asking him for help with heat treatment 👊😎
@ I enjoy his passion for it too. He also hates secret OEMs (e.g. JWK) so it made me chuckle
That Billy impression was spot on lol. Have a great week, Dave! 🤘

@@the_knights_edge we are not alone by a long shot bro
The logo help was no problem at all man, really just me playing around with the AI and brainstorming for a little bit. @BluminatiNinja is the logo professional for sure.
"I can't remember what I do, you know how that sh!t is" -Barefoot Bruisers 2025 😂 Believe me brother I can relate to that statement more than you know lol Love your weekly updates.
@@the_knights_edge 🤣👊😎
These last two videos have explored a really interesting topic with knives that I really haven't heard much about. Most discussions centre on what improvements a maker can do next time (should they choose to improve their fit and finish) or what outright flaws exist that someone with no ability to fix themselves either has to learn to live with or seek out someone who does have those skills to fix those things. You hardly ever hear someone, especially someone with skills, speak about the handmade aspects of a knife that are character points that truly can't be called design or production (the process of making it) flaws. Thanks for speaking about this SatuDave! And great to also hear your plans for where you intend to take your own work. Looking forward to your Barefoot Bruisers! 😎👊🙏
@@allison_in_canada thank you Allison 👊😎. It was just something I felt like I needed to say Appreciate your feedback and support. Hope you have a great week 🤘🤘

@@CrispyCritter04 appreciate that bro 😎👊. Hope you have a great week and see ya Sunday 🤘🤘
I like how you slam the Satu down when you say 'whatever' to being stuck with the Satu Dave nickname forever 😆Maybe this year I'll get serious about finding a custom to add to the collection and chill on all the production knives I've been chasing since I've just about got all the ones on 'the list' 😁Happy New Year bro, I think '25 is gonna be a good one 😎🤘
Thanks bro😎👊. Customs are definitely a new rabbit hole. Seems bottomless from my perspective Have a great week 🤘🤘
@@satudave that's just what I need, a new rabbit hole to go down 😆but it's all good, looking at what you've got means there's a whole other world out there to explore!
I really hope we're both wrong about our summer hunch, but right when you said S45 (26:29) my brain triggered "I thought Dave did that Tyr XL reblade in 3V." Either way, it will be 1) interesting to see how our older-dude brain recall is, and 2) How a blade of a different composition might behave with a different heat treat protocol 😊...I mean really, did the 1095 they were eyeballing for a certain glow in the year 1920 before quenching differ so greatly from the optimized one TOPS does now 😅. I guess we may see. Thanks Dave! 🤙
Yeah it’s gonna be interesting bro. Guess we shall see😂. Thanks Mitch😎👊. Hope you have a great week bro
Great video bro !

I like to take notes and write stuff down when im trying to learn new skills. You got some real cool knives this week great video man 👍
@@davidhelka8929 thanks David👊😎. I have to say I am definitely part of the learn it the hard way crowd. Taken notes has never worked for me to remember things. Well my memory sucks in general so it’s like I have to experience the why and why not of things to comprehend them🤷♂️. Not one of my best qualities I suppose. Hope you have a great week bro🤘🤘
Fun video today Dave! I laughed about the Direware thing - he got exactly what he signed up for. Looking forward to seeing what you get into this year. 🤝💪

@@plethoraofblades7392 always feels strange when you get enough time off to not recognize what day of the week it is 🤓. Thanks for checking in bro👊😎🤘🤘
As far as your style and what you wanna make, to thy own self be true. Also, humans are kinda like over the air signals, in the sense that we only have so much bandwidth. If you start maxing out your signal, quality begins to suffer so don’t over extend yourself. The Tyr is unrecognizable yet familiar at the same time so, job well done! Have a great week Dave!
@@jeffreydawson4520 thank you Jeff. It’s been a balancing act for a while now. Time to focus more on what matters the most. Have a great week my friend 👊😎🤘🤘
I really love how your knives are all raw metal with no flashy bits, I reckon you have the most unique collection of knives I have ever seen, of one particular style of knife. I love my bruisers too!!! Keep up the good work buddy and happy NY from Nick in New Zealand.
@@nicksenkovs1525 thanks bro👊😎. I am definitely zeroed in on what I like Appreciate you coming along for the ride NZ Nick🤘🤘
I like Direware. At least what I have seen in your collecting and trading. I definitely don't play in your league, though. What I have learned in the last few years is that I can appreciate aspects of knives I will never own, even when they aren't really my thing. Like I dig that one of Evan's that is too narrow for you, and I like the Tyr reblade you did. I just don't know that I would carry a knife that valuable. Although, I carry my Edgy prototype like any other knife. You always give me something to think about, brother. Much love to you and Hotrod. Stay well down there.
@@GrumpyGrunt thank you brother Grumpy. We all walk a different path and have our limitations wether it’s financial or size or type of knives but we all can bond on the passion of it I truly enjoy hearing others thoughts and feelings bout stuff that doesn’t personally interest me at the time. It’s about that positivity that I love. Hope you are well and warm And have a great week too👊😎🤘🤘
