Nik will always have a special place in my heart, back in 2008 Nik came all the way from Wales to visit my dad in a hospice. A small kind act that was so huge. Dad was a mega Hawkwind and Nik fan. Nik came and sat with him, shared stories, brought gifts and played the flute to him. It truly was a special moment and made a very ill person feel good and gave hope, happiness and love to his family.
mich calf hi i miss nik turner i actually met him What a Wonderful kind Sincere, guy he was saw him do his Gig at the Water rats pub in London i think it was 2019 Great Gig and friendly people, in all' Nic Turner was the true' Heart of Hawkwind , along with guys like Bob Calvert ' Barney Bubbles and Stacia' the Sexy Dancer Mike, London Hackney 2024
As so many people have said, he was a most generous person with his time. He would always have a chat and genuinely care about you. A massive human who is now on his journey out of our atmosphere into places unknown. I hope he is enjoying himself....R.I.P. A true Space Lord. x
I've seen both Dave Brock and Nik Turner's versions of Hawkwind back in the 90s. It's so sad that they never reconciled, but I still have Space Ritual, and other various recordings to fall back on. R.I.P. Nik Turner, whatever part of the universe your spirit may occupy at this moment.
If you were trippin' on acid or shrooms back in the day Hawkwind was the go to sounds you wanted on the box. Another psychedelic warlord has progressed to that great jam up yonder. Thank you Nik Turner. Love and Peace to his family.
I first saw Nik in New York circa 1972 or 1973, between Doremi and Space Ritual. My favourite recollection of Nik was at a show a few years later when he wore a frog costume, spouting poetry, swaying his limbs, playing his wild signature sax. Wonderful memories. Thank you Nik.
me an my wife holly lived with nik 1999 til 2002 we got stoned alot an bless margarita an all the family he was a legend bless you nik enjoy space my friend he offered to teach me sax but i was too stoned immaculate peace a love nik
Danke Henk, we'll all miss him, had the pleasure to meet him many times, first time at stonehenge at the age of 18, second morning there ended up smoking with him & most of the hawks in a big yank car, no rock star egos, they were just freaks like us, RIP Nik.
Nice guy, but no, not the "true spirit". An important part of the Hawkwind legend and probably the only person who could have taken over Calvert's vocal section in the group. But Calvert contributed a lot more material. s
I think Brock taking him to court turned most of the original band right offf Brock. Terry Ollis refused to even shake hands with Brock he said on the BBC$ doco on the Hawkwind reunion that Brock didn't attend because he gave the ultimatum to the BBC that if they didn't ban Nik Turner he wouldn't show. Pathetic really I expected a million times better from Brock.
Thanks David. I had to do something being a Nik fan since 1972. In the 90’s I met him in my hometown Leiden, Holland, and we had a nice chat with a few beers. He was such a warm and modest personality as we spoke. Oh well, as you write, memories 🌘🌘🌘🌒🌒☀️
So many happy memories of seeing Nik perform. First saw him in about 82 when he rejoined Hawkwind. Several times after that most recently with Hawklords 2 or 3 years ago.
I saw and met Nik in the early 80's at the Granary nightclub, here in Bristol, when he was in Inner City Unit. It must have been a time when him & Hawkwind weren't talking as he declined to sign some album covers but did sign my denim cutoff.
Thanks you for compiling and posting this. Sadly the one chance I had to see Nik live was on a night that I just couldn't make it. We'll always have his music!
A lot of people don’t know this, but some of his best music actually came out over the last 10 years. He put out a string of really terrific space rock albums. He was never too old to rock ‘n’ roll.
I'm fracking guttet! , went looking for Nik in presently Wales &-a local man told me he was touring in the states, I'm pissed he's gone! Some how more than Lemmy even, he was a shaman &the only person to record an album in the great pyramid! + kev leppard psychedelic Warlord! , safe journey across the river Nik ➕ ♡ 👁🗨 ☀ ☪ 🐆
Sorry, as much as I've loved space captain Nik Turner since In Search Of Space began my life in 1972 he's not the only person to record in the great Pyramid. Banco de Gaia did one & I think Yes did as well as another band I just can't think of at the top of my head. That's it Youth's Killing Joke Pandemonium was recorded in it as was Paul Horn's 1976 album.
@@johnirwin2163 I totally understand your feelings, but I have to be honest, there have been some good toons since then. Quark, Strangeness and Charm is a great little LP.
Why did it sooo long to employ the synth silver machine was ONLY popular because of the synth Hawkind Hawklords Glass Covered Coffin all sang about space where other bands your mind went to a different place you didn't need words to take you there.

Brock didn't attend because he gave the ultimatum to BBC4 that if they didn't ban Nik Turner he wouldn't show. Pathetic really I expected a million times better from Brock. I don't blame Niki for the fact that they couldn't resolve differences. Ultimately Brock tried to use legal controls on the wrong guy & doing it behind his back was the real last straw. Notice Simon House is the only member of the original Hawkwind to play with Brock now, & he plays for Uncle Nik Turner too. It was Niki who penned the line in Brainstorm "Kiss your body goodbye"! he was ready for lift-off forever & his music, logbook & words prepared me~
RIP Nik. Happy days. Rock on.

Agree with you Dan.
nice mix , been a big fan since ‘92

So sad he left the spaceship Earth without making it up with Captain Brock clearly their difference of opinions were unresolvable now it's too late .
I think Brock taking him to court turned most of the original band right offf Brock. Bollocks! I didn't know he'd passed away. Space Ritual may have to go on the turntable this weekend to celebrate his life and work.
