I'm 66 & when I look back through my life there's one constant thing that's always been there for me & that's always been Hawkwind since I 1st heard In Search Of pace by Hawkwind in 1972 at 14 & 1/2 on acid & headphones for the 1st time! I'd read one of the most important notices of concise literature I'd read in my life up until that point there I adored the logbook.
I was able to see once I'd made allies of pain & death there is nothing more to fear!~

    Viva Nik!
I've Seen him 3 times sans Hawkwind, including the legendary 1994 Space Ritual tour. It was near the beginning of the tour at a small dive bar in Denver with Helios Creed and Tommy Grenas shredding seriously doped up metal versions of Hawkwind songs several levels wickeder than the ones captured on the 1994 Space Ritual DVD and CD.
The show on those discs is more polished, and it is indeed stunning, but the 2 hour HEAVY ACID METAL sound they had going at that point early on in the tour was much more RAW, extremely psychedelic in a more direct and unapologetic way.
It really was a lot different - Picture an almost punk heavy metal version of Hawkwind deliberately rendered as fuzzed out, tripped out, metalled out, and just the most stoned to the bone yet hyper warp drive Nik/Hawkwind sound I've ever heard, thanks not only to Grenas and Creed, but the way they were playing the set at that point. Another cool thing about seeing that show was that it was so early in the tour that he was still using the name Nik Turner's Hawkwind Space Ritual. It actually said that on all the promo posters for the show, as well as ads, etc.
Shortly after that show he was forced to remove the HW portion of that band lineup name. And what a lineup it was. It was absolutely Mind Melting! Just Roasted some Purple Alien Hawg as a trigute to The Mighty Thunder Rider and of course Youth and The Space Falcons! Viva!!! Peace!!!

This is well excellent. Saw Nick a few years back playing a small venue in Carlisle, tbh I'd thought he'd retired as he wasn't looking too well. Just checked his discography on Wiki, seems he's busier than ever. Might buy this on the Planet Gong website, see they have it on vinyl for twenty quid.
