I refused to use the internet at all for many years until my son convinced me to give it a go, only a few years ago, ive been able to learn a great deal from it, realising the depth of my ignorance wasent a good feeling, but im certainly glad i did.

Almost guaranteed. Like I know plenty of stupid people exist and all, but I work in a public school and I know most kids could answer most of these questions. I wouldn't guarantee they'd know things like how many people are in the US or any politics based question (I've seen him ask VP before) but the simple math and such they could. Don't give up all hope on humanity. I will add an asterisk that I live in a pretty conservative area so there isn't a lot of the political murking that feels up classrooms in more liberal areas. I can't speak for those.
Commented this on the last one but it’s the dark truth of media my friend. Guarantee you there’s plenty of footage of people getting these right, and even people that weren’t filmed can get these right. I am not an American and I knew all the answers. Watching this makes me wonder how are these people capable of functioning in their day-to-day lives.

When I was a kid, many years ago, anyone who couldn’t correctly answer these questions by the 5th grade was placed in a special ed program where they were taught basic skills such as washing themselves and counting change.

The more likely scenario is that they target specific groups based on said group's ignorance (or fears) and use that to remain in power. As an EMT, part of my assessment for head injuries/altered mental status are questions such as;
"How many quarters are in $1.50?"
"Who is the president of the United States?"
"How many hours are in a day?" etc.
If conscious, not getting questions like these correct can indicate possible trauma or other medical emergencies...

My friend (age 25) told me when he was in high school, all they had to do was show up to class and they would get a passing grade. This video proves it. Shockingly sad.
I’m 26. Thankfully it was not like that for my school. However so many kids ditched or did not do how and ultimately failed high school. To prevent the drop out rate they decided to go this route as well. Really such a bummer for these kids. Knowledge is power. Even the most basic knowledge. 🙄

@@onnugget it's public school. What they teach should be done up to 7th-8th grade. High school should be university like a lot of other countries do. Public school only takes a basic teaching degree. So the pay is lower. While technical schools, universities, colleges should actually have teachers with real world experience and get paid more. Private schools and tech usually do.

This needs to be the rule for all countries: In order to vote, you need to pass a basic civics test. Putting it bluntly: People this dense shouldn't be allowed to vote. Any democracy filled with a big percentage of these people will turn things for the worst no matter what. Time will tell.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about taking a test just like residents have to take when applying for citizenship. You don't have to know everything, just a general idea of why your country is in the place it is right now.
The US actually had one. But it was considered racist since black people who had spent their entire lives in slavery understandably didn't know many of the questions. So rather than fixing it, they just did away with it.
But imagine how it would be abused though...imagine the question "How many genders are there?" and then preventing people from voting when they provide the correct answer of 2.

And what's worse is you test this yourself by going out in the street and ask these same questions and you'll see that most people know the answers to them.

He said - any government/controlling power that can keep its population uneducated, ignorant, hopeless, living in fear from a real or imagined threat is a government/controlling power that can do whatever it wants. Because a population that is educated, that is not ignorant, that questions, that lives with hope and is not fearful is a threat to those in Government, those that have controlling power and their agendas.

I am 66 and I would have ansered all these questions correctly even the American specific ones. I am Canadian and we used to have a pretty good education system. I don't know what kind of shape it's in now. When I was 30 I went to college and we all had to take a mthematics test and an English test. The English test was mainly identify the grammatically correct sentences . they had 1) I done that last week 2) I did that last week. So no verb, adverg, noun, pronoun, predicate of a sentence type questions. The mathematics questions were all just arithmetic and order of operations questions. I swear that only people who had just graduated Highschool failed those tests and had to take remedial English and math.
The interesting thing is that you cannot correct them! Heaven forbid it!

I hate to say it but I've finally come to that conclusion too. How about voters are required to pass the citizenship test? Really, if someone "needs" to know that to become a citizen then all voters should know that much and a whole lot more.
I went from a college prep, all boys boarding school to a public high school for my senior year and this is exactly how dumb everyone was. It was hard to communicate and tolerate their juvenile sense of humor.
