Having spent time in both corners of the UK I do believe Scottish schools have the edge over English schools - There's not a lot in it but I always felt the Scottish education system was better disciplined and resourced.

Its directly the fault of our education system. The only thing they teach for 12 years of history class is the civil war over and over and over, and yet they still leave out most of the details. I don’t think I once had a class about Teddy Rosevelt but he’s my favorite president nowadays.
And most people our age aren’t that dumb, you could just as easily find anyone age 18-80 that are just as confused as the young people in this video.
The truth is that America is the most propagandized countries on the planet, and our education system is built to crush dissent and critical thought, while simultaneously price gouging higher forms of education to gate keep the poor and financially cripple the middle class.

@@yvonneyang5145 They are stupid, I just don’t think they would be AS stupid if our education system wasn’t purposely designed to make them that stupid. I had class mates who legitimately could not read a clock.
For example 3x3x3/ 3^3 wasn’t taught until the 4th grade, they never taught us math pyramids, and changed the curriculum yearly to purposefully confuse the slower students (this was especially prevalent in high school) .
So it’s no surprise to me that someone would leave school that dumb, I knew many a classmate that brain dead who also graduated. One person didn’t even show up for the last two years of high school, and got a diploma and attended graduation all the same.
I’m so proud of the man in the cap and gown. He finally graduated from kindergarten.

I'm 74 and this is no surprise 😂😅 ! We LEARNED when we were kids in school ! Nowadays, many younger people have a low attention span and can't think quick on their feet! Sense of humor ? We need to revise citizenship in the United States. Anyone who can't pass the citizenship test that they require for naturalization shouldn't be allowed to vote, even if they were born to American parents on American soil. If you can't bother being informed, you have no business getting a say in our government.

Amen to that. For many years I've supported some kind of test requirement to vote. The citizenship is a good one.
I agree wholeheartedly. This bleeding heart idea that everyone deserves a voice has probably done more damage than anything else. I would also raise the voting age to 25, people need some time in the real world before they can truly understand how the policies they vote on affect things, and that gives the frontal lobe some time to develop too.

It's that they don't teach what SHOULD be taught, anymore and the kids are so busy p[laying with their little toy phones, they never hear anything being taught and the teachers are not allowed to reprimand or correct them! There's also no kid left behind which just shoves them through school no matter what they learn!! The parents don't care, either! School is just a day care center/babysitter to them as long as the teachers don't do anything to "hurt" or embarrass the kids in front of others.
I used to know this guy that taught math 5 or 10 years ago. One day, he gave the class a quiz. During the quiz, he started to stroll around the room looking over the shoulders of the kids to see how they were making out, as teachers are wont to do. He gets up to this one girl, sees that she's doing quite well and commends her for her great work and gives her a pat on the shoulder as he says something like, "Great work, Suzie!" The next day, her parents had him up on child molestation charges!! JUST because he gave her congratulatory pat on the shoulder!!

Public schools are focusing on teaching incorrect grammar. For example, how can one individual be 'they?' English grammar uses singular pronouns and plural pronouns.
Taxpayer dollars are used to teach about equality of outcome no matter how lazy or stupid one is, instead of teaching basic math skills, macroeconomics or microeconomics.

She decided to move onto something else because she had 0 say in their teaching curriculum. She didn't like the way the system was so she found something she enjoys doing. I am also friends with 2 other teachers that say very similar things. Both moved to teaching kids with teaching disability's because again they had no say in how "they" taught their students.

Yeah, I noticed that. A lot of these people seem to be having issues with actually understanding basic words. A lot asked "a dozen what?" which amazed me. I'm not American and knew the answer to all these questions around the age of 10, other than 1776, which we taught about 4 years later. I fundamentally believe democracy should have basic exams you have to pass to be allowed to vote, for the same reason that children and the clinically insane can't vote. If you don't know your country has a capital, you shouldn't decide who's head of it.

Yeah that is quite disturbing. That is why we have books and the ‘Internet’. You know, to actually tell us about events, places and people before our time. I.e., history. I’ve never noticed this kind of problem among my fellow peers in the UK, but I have noticed unfortunately many people at university who had immigrated to the UK many years beforehand, being asked many study questions and just coming up with an excuse saying they have no knowledge of this stuff whatsoever. Many of them feel like plainly obvious questions that feel screamingly relevant and important, but many of them have not bothered to learn them because they are most the time only interested in staying within their own cultural bubbles. It’s rather upsetting to say the least. However they actually still have a cultural excuse to know more about their own they had before they moved to the country. These American people who don’t even know the answer to the most basic of questions that even us in the rest of the world could answer, is impossibly disturbing.

Even when I was 1412 years ago, we definitely had a vast amount of knowledge always being stuffed into a brains about a huge variety of subjects areas which were all compiled throughout each day of school and it doesn’t seem to have changed all these years later. We had a large number of information being put into us from the US as well both from average knowledge on the Internet and TV and we’ve actually retained a huge number of it. Yes for some reason this doesn’t seem to be the case in the US where all the information is coming from. It’s very disturbing and quite frankly infuriating to say the least.

I am a college professor. Yes, young people are this ignorant of basic knowledge. They have been passed throughout K-12 to promote their self-esteem. They come to my classes reeking of entitlement and knowing nothing. Then they throw a fit when I don't give them grades THEY DON'T EARN.

Parents suck too for not emphasizing learning on the home front. I learned most of these facts reading my dad's American history books with him before I even started school.
As a parent you have to assume that the teachers cannot teach your children what they need to know. Morals and ethics and a basic understanding of the founding of this country and a citizen's constitutional rights and maybe some basic math so they know how to run their financial affairs.
This is one of the main reasons I homeschool my kids! The education (or lack there of) in the public system is embarrassing!

I taught University Earth Science for 30 years. My first year in the Introductory classroom, I realized that the students had no idea of basic world geography. So, I made up a list of 20 places we'd be discussing such as Japan, the Amazon River, Hawaii, Mediterranean Sea, and told them that every midterm exam would have a map where they would name the places indicated. They hated it and several even complained to the Dean, showing him the map. The Dean, being from Hong Kong, asked them to show him on the map where Hong Kong is. Of course they couldn't. He told them that I was "doing them a favor" and for them to tell me to "add Hong Kong" to the list.
It never once occurred to me to complain to the dean about the unfair workload of a course. Even the courses I just barely passed I attributed to my own shortcomings.
I liked the Dean's course of action!
I've been a college professor for 20 years. I'm lucky if I get 10-15% of students enthused enough to pay attention and learn the entire semester. A quarter of them just drop out or fad away. Abysmal.
