My favorite "forgotten feature" has to be the old cobblestone texture being used to find north!
And how cobble and netherrack had the same texture but different colors

One you forgot was how the old Creeper AI worked.
When a Creeper used to be close enough to the player to explode, it used to "Orbit" the player before detonation.
They also use to jump at you.
Ok thats cool
When was this???
Thank God that's gone, I don't wanna deal with that. Creepers are bad enough as they are now. 🙃
also in a few snapshots mobs would run from a creeper that's about to detonate

I think there were times where endermen could pick up any blocks, including bedrock. Now, my question is, could you kill the enderman and get the bedrock?
Assuming you kept the enderman from placing the block and killed it in a version that allows them to drop the block they hold then yes
Yeah endermen started dropping their blocks in release 1.9. If you kept an enderman holding bedrock until that version, you could get the bedrock item.

The PS4 Edition looked a lot the same way until very recently with the Bedrock transfer. Does this mean I'm a veteran? Lol it's especially funny because I've only started playing MC since early 2019
the furnace minecart is a really cheap and effective alternative to the powered rail tbh so i dont know it gets so little use
my favorite forgotten feature was the 3D setting, on Minecraft Classic back in 2010-12 on the official Minecraft website they had the full game available to play for free with all the blocks, leaves didn't even decay back then, or at least not as fast/much. you could only play it in single player for obvious reasons, cuz it was free ofc. there was also free servers on the website but they never had all the blocks, because ofc they wanted you to buy the full game. Well in that single player full version, what everyone called Classic, in the settings there was a 3D mode. I specifically remember going home and digging out my Spy Kids Game Over 3D glasses, because they had the same lens colors and taking them to the youth center to use with Minecraft. I thought it was so cool even though it hurt my eyes lol Nobody seems to remember it though, maybe people were too busy playing multiplayer or maybe a mandela effect is happening, where only specific people with deep rooted connections to their past memories remember and the other ppl who didn't care forgot because it was rewritten somehow.
I remember that button too, but I lost my red/blue 3D glasses before I could ever try it out.
@@dustinbrueggemann1875 OMG :D i'm so glad theres someone else ! Nobody ever talks about it and I was starting to think maybe I was just going crazy LOL
@@Stardusk123 yeah I remember it worsening my eyes after a while
I remember seeing the 3D setting also for a while in the normal Java edition along with other settings that were kinda hidden and put filters on.
It was somewhat at the time where the new flowers were already there on PC but the consoles didn't have had horses because their versions where always 1-3 years behind the PC.
And btw.
Horses and nearly all flowers in the game seem new to me even thou there in the game for how long now? 7-9 years?
What about the old sounds, furnaces having a stone texture on top, the old cobble texture, the whole ladder thing and duping sand with pistons.
omg the old sounds for minecraft were wild XD I watched a few episodes of my fav. youtuber Batclone the guy who got me into youtube in the first place and the sound for the bows when shot, was obnoxious as heck, and CHESTS didn't have a sound! they didn't even have an animation! and yet back then mods still existed lol but the mods literally had things they ended up adding, like horses, flying, commands, etc. ITS SO WILD i cant believe how far its come looking back on what it was really blows my mind!!!
Sand duping with pistons is still a thing though, just different. I have a video on it if you want to know what I mean
1:33
Since this video is talking about old features,
This line should be
"Or if lightning strikes a pig, it will turn into a zombie pigman"
Not zombie piglin. 🙃
This is a current feature though
Such an important correction. Thank you so much ~
That feature is still in the game
I’ve always enjoyed using the mine cart with furnace, the concept of having a train engine type mine cart is really cool to me. Sure it’s very outdated, but I’ve came up with little tricks to fix most of these problems, especially the one with pulling mine carts on a turned rail. I really hope they never remove the thing.
theyre also really nice if i dont want to worry about powered rails
Yeah I hope they don't remove them
I played this game ever since the beginning, how could I forget
Oh my god, this is what I call nostalgic....
Thanks for 200 likes!! Really made my day.. 🙃🙃

Mine still is, lol. Vanilla/bedrock tweaks, son!
I actually had lighting summon skeleton riders randomly when i was younger and it scared the crap out of me
Cringe
You forgot the minecarts sticking to each other for the whole reason of the furnace in a minecart feature existing in the first place.
Back then minecarts could stick together by pushing one towards another and then the furnace minecart could pull a chain of minecarts.
Sure, Booster was faster, but they require an entity riding the minecart so the velocity makes it able to reach the next booster or the distance had to be shorter.
How is a Booster as a single ride faster than a furnace minecart pulling 6+ chest minecarts full of items PLUS the minecart with the player AND the furnace packed with 64 coal? Would need a lot of riding the rails when moving from one place to another.
The feature is deprecated and hasn't been worked on since 1.4, so it is possible for them to stick together, but rail corners are still a problem.
Okay then
You actually need to keep right clicking the furnace with coal and you can’t put a stack of coal into it.
@@YEETMAN-dt9mb Yeah, before the 1.4 update. Back then Block of Coal didn't exist yet, so I also couldn't say a stack of Block of Coal.
Fun fact: the phases of the moon also increases the chance of mobs spawning with buffs like better armor, ability to pick up loot, effects (on spiders), etc.
Bedrock/Pocket Edition veterans will remember.

The old tutorial from when I played on ps3 have me nostalgia i remember spending hours in it for no reason
7:26 bro i never knew this one, that could have saved me a lot of times.
The furnace in Minecart looks oddly Cute
Next time you mention "forgotten features" in a video, make sure to include the, that mostly OG MCPE players remember. That forgotten feature is called "Redstone Alternative". It's pretty simple, the player basically stacks a lot of cactuses and signs, and on top of eachother, then they place gravity-affected blocks on top of them. (The cactus with signs is just one of the basics, the more advanced stuff _sadly_ needed a lot of bugs, that cannot be recreated nowadays, unless a command, or a world editor, is involved.)
Oh God, I forgot about the signs and cactus
I still remember that signs and cactus thing before redstone was added in MCPE. Good old times
Can you link me a video about this? I’m surprised I haven’t heard of it since I’ve played since 2012
@@Blavin, just search for "redstone alternative mcpe" and you'll get a ton of results for redstone alternative videos.

Ant: Shows the tutorial world for 360 Edition
Me: This does put a smile on my face
I'm a long time Minecraft player and I was aware of all the things, you've mentioned, except:
- the lightning only hitting the blocks that are being rained on
- the seed affecting the star pattern
- Endermen being actually immune to projectiles in Beta 1.8 pre
This is why I've been loving watching your channel Ant, always bringing something surprising.
Villagers being turned to witches by lightning: "Am I a joke to you?"
Raid:
Villagers go hide in houses.
That one pillager: HERES JHONNY
No
The "no lightning in snow areas" is actually on purpose because IRL lightning clouds can't form in a snow storm. It is physically impossible IRL to have lightning during snow
There's a thing called thundersnow. It actually exists, but is rare.
Fun fact: It is possible to get a "Johnny" Vindicator using commands to set the "Johnny" flag but then still give it a different name.
I would love to see you do a video on the spawner minecart. It was only really used by mapmakers to place blocks by spawning falling sand entities at specific locations before we got access to the setblock and summon commands. Back in the day, it had to be brought in the game with the use of MCEdit and NBT editors.
With the Skeleton Horse one, it was my first time EVER getting it to happen, i've been playing for 8 years, wtf
I had it happen to me when I was looking for wolfs, it was on top of my box house, luckily I had experienced skeleton and chicken jockeys so I knew what to do

I feel like it's weird to call mooshroom lightning switching a forgotten feature considering how incredibly recent it is and likewise it's weird to call the red dragon a forgotten Minecraft feature considering it was never actually implemented in Minecraft.

Minecart with furnace is still incredibly useful though. Whenever I transport villagers overland, that's my go-to transportation method until something more permanent is built (and considering I'm moving them to a breeder, that's unlikely). Don't need to waste all the gold on rails, just set up a big chain and pop a bit of coal in. Plus, trains: cool.

isnt the slime-linked-to-moon thing because the moon is a factor in determining a chunks local difficulty or whatever it's called
While the moon phase does affect regional difficulty, slime spawning has checks for the moon: they will not spawn during a new moon at all, while other mobs can and do.
