November 3rd this year part 2 comes out, the trailer is out there on UA-cam, you should react to it! And definitely see it in a theater, IMAX preferably.
If you want to know learn more about DUNE my channel description has the link to my books, audiobooks and videos of the Frank Herbert novels the films are from
The book is very eye opening and far more than just good vs evil. It's definitely one of those books you should read at least once in your lifetime.
If you read it once you will read it again. The only question is will you read it again before or after God Emperor of Dune. This is my favorite world created by anyone.
Or, you know, read it 10 or more times
Fun Fact the year 10,191 AG corresponds to the year 23,352 A.D.
Dune is set in the year 10191, which is actually about 20,000 + years into our future; the year is roughly calculated from a time in which humanity overthrew and destroyed all human-made intelligent machines, like robots and computers.
That’s a massive jump
Paul wasn't hesitating at the spice crawler. He got hit with a dose of spice which made him hallucinate. Thats why Gurney had to go get him.
1:42 - Your prediction would be true, except humans banned artificial intelligence and began to strive towards improving themselves instead of machines. One of the more fascinating aspects of the lore.
Exactly Paul and many of these characters would be considered trans human in comparison to us
I always saw Dune tech to be 'what if clockwork and manual switches' were 18k years into the future. Like sure, it's very primitive tech, but give it nearly 20k years of development without taking into auto-controlled or AI-controlled territory.
Like imagine 50s tech that never 'modernized' but still improved. Kinda like how Alien shows 70s-80s tech but 'in the future'. Retro-tech I think it's called, but more extreme with Dune where stuff like anti-grav tech is a thing and it can look like a beltbuckle or a pair of suspenders, or ornate lamp-globes that hover around and follow their assigned target, or personal shielding the size of a belt-attachment or a wristguard.
Exactly! It was a very sensible and reasonable prediction. However, Frank Herbert did an amazing job at world building, something I am a huge fan of doing, and made very explainable reasons why it didn't happen that way.
All because of the development of two inventions that forever changed human society. A.I., which enslaved us, we freed ourselves from, and then forbid EVER using again. (Which forced us to focus on maximizing our MENTAL capacities.) And Shields, that made firearms (and lasers) almost useless. (which forced us to refocus on maximizing our PHYSICAL/ martial abilities.)
Quite brilliant IMO.
What they said
@@technopirate304The Bene Geserit in the first book would be superhuman by modern standards. And in God Emperor of Dune a 118 year old man was able to effortlessly defeat Duncan Idaho.
It's worth noting that they are using a different calendar in this universe - 10191 is more like 21,000 years in the future. Their calendar is "Before Guild" and "After Guild" (Spacing Guild). The movie begins in 10191AG and 1AG is about 10,000 years from now.
Good point. Calenders might be completely different after such time in interstellar expansion and, possibly, purges to historical records.
More like over 20,000 years from now
@@technopirate304 1AG is 10,000 years from now
I love when Chani tells Paul "you look like a little boy" because it's true as he's only about 16 when they go to Arrakis. He's definitely still considered & treated like a child by all those around him other than his dad. Don't know why the movie doesn't reveal that despite them being great with other details from the book. It shows she is trained enough to recognize inexperience. She is a few years older than him in the book, if I remember correctly. This is part of why she's so surprised when he wins the fight with Jamis.
I also think his age is why even though Paul & Duncan have an honorary brother kind of relationship, you see that Duncan teases him & doesn't put much stake in his dreams. Duncan loves him, but also considers him like a naive little brother that has a lot book learning but not much life experience yet.
i’m glad you guys appreciated the movie a lot of people said it was “boring” but i say it’s very sophisticated and if you love world building this is the perfect movie
I’ve been obsessed with Dune reactions lately for some reason, and you guys are the first to actually (mostly) understand what’s going on.
fun fact, the story isn't set in 10191 AD, but AG (after guild). it's actually closer to 20,000 years in the future
The fact that even a grown man like your father can appreciate the beauty that Dennis creates further solidies this movie to be a masterpiece!
Nice to see reactors who can actually follow the movie, almost all other reactors are super confused. Good job.
Most reactors are more interested in emoting and making constant commentary unfortunately
12:19 I thought your dad was going to scrub his mouth with the kitten. LOL.
One of my favorite details is when she asks do you know what this is when she is talking about the knife, Paul's mother responds "It is a maker...." In the books it is made clear she was gonna finish the statement with "Of death" But she sees Mapes freaking out and stops because she sees "it is a maker." means something to Mapes.
Probably the worst-adapted scene in the movie; the acting and direction is way off
When the shield flashes red, it means that something is passing through. It has to be moving slowly to penetrate. Reaching out and taking someone's hand penetrates both shields...a bullet, or a quick jab with a blade, will be deflected.
slower than 11 meters a second.... I think. It's why the shield allows air to pass through (and ensures it's power ain't drained from keeping out dust and particulate matter'.
The humans in this future gave up most machines and do things by hand and mind
One very important thing that wasn't addressed in Dune Part 1 is that the story takes place 10000 years after the uprising of humans against AI. That's why AI and computers were banned and priority was given to develop the body and mind instead.
That’s an extremely interesting lore
@@myegyptiandadreacts4824The Dune universe has long been referred to as the science fiction equivalent of LOTR, and for good reason. There are great differences between the 2, but both are incredible in their depth of mythical world building while also relating themes common to real life.
Or rather it counts time from after the Guild of Navigators were Established. aka. AG.
@6:07, the shield turns red whenever it’s penetrated at all! 😊
Jessica was Leto's Concubine. he never married her as he had to keep the possibility of marriage to the daughter of another house open for political reasons
How cool to hang out with dad
I love this movie so much. I don't think it's hyperbole to say it's one of the most visually stunning films ever made. And as a long-time Dune fan, it captured the flavor of how I envisioned the novels almost perfectly. I enjoy seeing other people enjoy it as well.
"Dreams make good stories, but everything important happens when we're awake."
Fun Fact: This film sports a distinctly Arabic theme, in keeping with author Frank Herbert having used Islamic culture as an influence for his story.
Location Location Fact: The scenes on the ocean world of Caladan were shot in Stadlandet, Norway. Much of the desert scenes on the desert world of Arrakis were shot in Jordan and Abu Dhabi, in the Middle East.
Fan Filmmakers Fact: Composer Hans Zimmer is a big fan of the novel Dune, and turned down working with frequent collaborator Christopher Nolan on Tenet (2020) to score this film. For the same reason, Denis Villeneuve was the top choice but turned down the offer to direct the Bond film No Time To Die (2021).
'Merica-splaining, eh?
Really? Seriously?? Are you actually 'splaining to the Egyptian man and his son that a film has an "Arabic theme"??
Step number one in insulting someone and their culture: explain to them that something is "themed" in their culture (when you yourself are not of that culture.)
Step number two in rubbing rocks of salt in the wound: make certain yours is the dominant culture (on the platform, media, etc.) and your target of said 'splaining is not.
I think we should start a new term for your insult: 'Merica-splaining.
I suggest you take down your comment before you embarrass yourself further.
(stands up, puts on his glasses, and clears his throat)
No. I have said nothing wrong. I was noting that the Arabic theme is adaptation accurate. Your female hysterics isn't going to work on me. Go try your woke nonsense on someone else.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
I love the Dune series... it is one I have read ever year for at least the last 25 years. My one complaint with this movie is with the doctor. With just a few more lines, they could have done such a better job with him. Saying that he knows he is going to die, but has to save her from her agony would fix so much with him.
Yup, but then they might have needed to make it 3 movies instead because of the amount of stuff needed to be filtered out to just make it 2 movies only.
Can't wait for the part 2!
6:00 the shield turns red when a slow movement touches it. That’s why the fighting is so insane. You move fast to block but have to move slow to kill. It turned red when he grabbed his hand to lift him up because it was a slow movement. Also why they don’t use bullets. Fast flying object won’t go through.
I enjoyed rewatching this with you and your father. Part 1 was masterful. Part 2 will be astonishing.
I highly recommend you read the book or listen to the very entertaining audio book. It is widely considered one of the great masterpieces of science fiction.
Great reaction, cute kitten!
New movie comes out in November. This book came out in the 60’s and is responsible for a decent amount of modern sci-fi, including Star Wars. The the world building and advent of several cultures is comparable to The Lord of the Rings books if not more so. For sci-fi, Dune is my favorite and for fantasy, LOTR. They are very different but both very epic. Go to the theatre for part 2. It obviously hasn’t been released yet but I promise it will be worth it. DV: the director doesn’t miss. This is his childhood dream and he has wonderfully brought it to life. ✌️
They pushed it back a year. :/
The inspiration for Star Wars (and Trek) is Perry Rhodan and not Frank Herbert.
@@RealCodreXGeorge Lucas has admitted Dune was one of several inspirations for Star Wars
Its says Caladan and then year 10191, what needs to stated is that this is just 10,000 since the beginning of that age its more like 22,000 since "Earth"
11:21 damn many people miss that.
Always nice to see both of you!
just to clarify something about what year this takes place in: according to the novels, it takes place in the year 20191 A.D. What you see is the year 10191 A.G., ten thousand years after the formation of the Spacing Guild, which was formed around 10,000 A.D.!
on a funny note, Rebecca Furguson who plays Paul's mother, she said that when the script called for her to use the "Voice", she didn't know what it was supposed to sound like, so for those moments, she put on a Donald Duck voice!
This movie is based on a very influential novel from about 1965. It's actually further in the future than the year would lead you to believe, they are using a new, future dating system. There WAS super high technology, with robots and AI managing things, with humans becoming 'soft' in body and mind. Super tech that allowed humans to get to many other star systems in the galaxy, but elites using this dependency tried to enslave humanity, ultimately all AI tech and robots were banned as a religious mandate. Much technology was lost, and humans became 'harder' as a result. Humans had to learn how to do computer calculations in their own minds using only simple aids.
The 'spice' is necessary to expand minds in order to allow space travel--before, computers could do that. Spice also does stuff like double or triple lifespan.
It's far in the future, and most people never leave the worlds of their birth. Over time, populations of humans on other planets have started to diverge a bit from each other.
"Star Wars" played homage to many elements from the novel. The desert planet of Tatooine, references to a drug called 'spice', the 'sandpeople' using primitive 'still suits', the Jedi with their precog fighting ability using swords rather than guns and so on.
It's why all tech has a very 'manual switch' feel to it in Dune, but taken 18k years into the future with still the same feel but near-magical levels of functionality due to how advanced it can be.
Pops was on point
This is the first video from you guys I’m watching and I love the energy you guys bring safe to say I will be watching more from you guys in the future
How FUN that you watched this with your dad, very nice reaction. Thanks from Sweden. (PS About the book burnings, one guy is danish and the other one is from Iraq, true swedes wouldn't do that. It's bad respect - no matter what you believe in.)
Blue is the color 9f the shield deflecting fast incoming forces. Red is when the shield has been penetrated, this is possible by moving the blade slowly through the shield. Basically the shield design stops projectiles above a certain speed/velocity. Hence them then going back to hand held weapons. Easier to kill an opponent in hand to.hand combat than using guns etc.
Glad you two liked it!
Indeed, the story is quite compelling but worldbuilding needs its time, and they stayed pretty close to the original story and scenes of the book. Some details were omitted, but that's unavoidable when adapting such a lore-heavy book. As to give your father some additional info on the lore and politics of the Duniverse, so it becomes a bit more clear:
You have 4 major powerblocks in this universe:
1)The Emperor (and his army, the Sardaukar)
2)The Landsraad, consisting of a dozen Great Houses (and many Minor Houses, all vying for power). Think Game-of-Thrones here, but in sci-fi setting. ;-)
3)The Bene Gesserit; a semi-religious Order of women whom have certain powers (like the Voice, or being a Truthsayer, and some others not shown yet) and exert a lot of behind-the-scenes influence, but mostly stay low-profile
4) The Guild Navigators and CHOAM; a strong mercantile power, with a monopoly on spacetravel
It was more or less explained in the beginnings when Paul talked with his dad on Caladan: House Atreides is a growing power, politically and military, and the Emperor feels threatened. But he can't directly attack the House, because otherwise the Landsraad (the ensemble of Great Houses) will turn against him. As said, they each constitute a "big power" in this Duniverse. So the Landsraad and the Emperor keep each other in check, as it were.
Meanwhile, the Bene Gesserit are working from the shadows, on both sides - they primarily are concerned with their own plans and devices, to create the Kwizatsh Haderach. They manipulate from the shadows and actually form the third great power in this universe, but seldom show it openly. They also exert power by political marriages, or become concubines for political advantages - which is why Jessica wasn't married to Leto, though it was done to benefit him and House Atreides, not herself or the Sisterhood.
The fourth independent power, which is hardly touched upon in this first part of the movie, is CHOAM and their Spice Guild. They're like a huge mercantile power, and the Guild Navigators are the only ones able to move/teleport between planets, so without them, there would be no viable interstellar Imperium. Which make them essential and an enormous powerhouse as well - though, of course... they are and remain dependent on the Spice. That's why: whom controls Arrakis, controls the Empire.
So the Emperor can't directly attack a Great House like Artreides, or he risks all-out war with the Landsraad, consisting of the other Great Houses. Instead, he uses an indirect attack, with and through the Harkonnens - who want their fiefplanet back with all the Spice - doing the grunt work for him. The emperor knows they will be easily instigated that way, certainly because the Atreides and Harkonnen already have a centuries-old feud going on between them. It's a sort of proxy war, thus. He does help the Harkonnen to make sure they'll win - hence why he sends a few battalions of Sardaukar, his elite troops. But no-one (especially the Landsraad) may know about that. (That's also why they killed Liet, because she was going to expose the Emperor's meddling).
Also, some details one might have missed in the movie: About the time in which the story plays: in the beginning of the movie they show it's the year 10191, but this is not 10191 AD, it's 10191 AG. AG (After Guild - when the Spice Guild was made and started exploring the stars), and BG (Before Guild) are the iterations used and the lore in the books gives some indication as how that relates to our AD (Anno Domini). The most precise date - with a high level of accuracy - is that the first Dune novel which is set in 10,191 AG, corresponds approximately to 23,148 AD. It is mentioned the "space age" takes place in 11,000 BG, and assuming this would mean it began in 1957 AD as this is when the first satellite, Sputnik, was launched, we can rebuild the whole timeline to our AD. So if you add the year 11,000 BG to 10,191 AG you’re left with a time span of 21,191 years. So if you add 21,191 years to 1957 AD, you’re left with 23,148 AD as the most likely date. Quite some time! Most casual watchers of the movie think it's almost 10000 years in the future, but it's actually more than twice as much!
Now...as far as the melee fights and old/new tech are concerned, it's important to realize that in the Duniverse, while there is very high-tech at CERTAIN aspects, others are low tech (which gives the retro-feeling of the movie) but with a reason. It may seem strange at first sight, but note, however, that this has an in-story explanation, namely: thousands of years ago, there was a rebellion against "thinking machines" (AI) called the Butlerian Jihad. Humanity won (barely), but since that time there is a very strong taboo on creating anything resembling robots or AI, and humanity started to develop their own powers (aided by the melange/spice), such as Mentats (basically human supercomputers). This is the reason you don't see any highly developed robots, AI or even computers in this world.
This mix of old and new tech is a defining, historically explained element of the Duniverse; it's part of the worldbuilding and lore. Now, specifically about the melee combat: maybe you missed it, but they explained the shields in that fighting scene; they said "the slow sword can penetrate it". This is a hint that ALL objects with high kinetic energy are stopped dead in their tracks when hitting the shield, but SLOW objects can penetrate it. Meaning: ALL of our "modern" warfare weapons would largely become obsolete: machine-guns and all fast moving shells/bullets etc. become useless, but swords and knifes that are SLOWLY moved can still reach a target through the shields. Making the use of swords and knifes, after thousands of years, the dominant way of fighting once again. It's actually a cool twist.
That's all I'm going to say about it, because any more would get you into spoiler territory for part 2! ;-)
Hope that made things more clear!
Omg I love your dad! Love your kitten! Love Your relationship with your dad! ❤ You should do a reaction to the trailer for Dune part 2, trailer 2! Can't wait to watch more on this channel ❤
my friend please make a video with your dad for Dune part 2 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I really enjoyed your reaction :)
@40:43, him stomping on it didn’t matter at that point, drum sand echos no matter how softly you walk. the moment they took that first step, they were exposed. also you can see the way the worms shift the sand in the scene with the crawler, paul falling isn’t that surprising. be nice lol.
You fellows have to watch INCENDIES. It is set in the Middle East and actually was the Villeneuve film that got me most excited for DUNE because of the themes. We all knew he could do awesome sci fi already.
1:40 very interesting comment...the movie doesn't address this but it's an important facet of the book
It’s not 8,000 years from now. The date was 10191 AG…After guild. It’s closer to 23,000 years from now.
Great reaction! This film won 6 Oscars! Nov. 3 release this year.
As much as i love this version of Dune it is a lot of story to try and pack in 2 movies. With that said i wish they would have made a movie about the Butlerian Jihad since A.I. is on everyone's mind.
Nonono, it's not 8000 years into the future. that's 8000 years into the future since the new calendar was put to use... which is about 10k years into the future from now, so it's closer to 18000 years into the future that Dune is set :p
Also if you do not know the book, there's a lot of missed hints - like when Jessica is shown the Crys Knife and she calls it a Maker - she had intended to call it a 'Maker of Death' iirc, aka. a weapon to take lives, but 'Makers' is also a word and reference to the Sandworms since the Knives are made from the 'teeth' of a Worm. So had jessica finished her sentence, it might have NOT been misunderstood as her refering to it merely 'as a maker'.
Funny how your comments are coming from a place of being uniformed about Dune, but are so relevant to it. For example Dune is exactly about the evolution of humans and is about what we would need to do to _not_ become weak and dependent on technology as you said we would become in the year 10000. And about how we will continue to mix into one race, yeah we will probably, and thats exactly what you see. House Harkonnen is one planet wide race that adapted to their planet's environment. Atreides are also. Because these societies are very isolated, travel between worlds is extremely expensive.
Ooooo yes I was hoping for a Dune reaction!! 😼
My favorite book series, FANTASTIC MOVIE!!!
This is actually year 20`000+
When they say year 10191, it's "A.G." or "After Guild" - The Spacing Guild was formed approximately between 9500 and 10000 C.E.
Can't blame Paul for what happened at the harvester. He didn't know he'd react to spice the way he did. The Bene Gesserit breeding program made him that way.
Great Movie (from great Books) and I enjoyed watching it with you two, but you could of shared one of those kittens for us to pet during the movie 🙂...George Lucas said Dune influenced him when he created Star Wars (The Force ect)
I enjoyed your reaction.
It’s actually 20,000 years in the future. If you read the book
Part 2 comes out in November I believe... nice reaction 💯
28:53 Not shown in the movie is the moment Paul tells his mom who her father is…Baron Vladmir Harkonnen. So their great enemy is actually PUL’s grandfather. Btw the Emperor is also the Duke’s cousin.
1:51 Oh In DUNE. What you are saying is the opposite. 👍
Humanity uses all the abilities the body has to offer.
Have you guys seen Game of Thrones?
Aaawwww... Keettaaan...
Dune, Part 2, is scheduled for release this November.
great reaction! Nov 3rd is when Part Two comes!
Dune part 2 will be released November this year!!! both trailers are out already.
something id like to ask is how is the scene with Pauls vision in the tent sub titled for you guys? Dune is amazing in that it has lot middle eastern culture in it and in the book the use the term 'jihad' explicitly when talking about the war in Pauls visions. also side note the Freman religion is merger of Zen Buddha and Sunni called "Zen-Sunni" compared to the Royal Houses that are "Orange Catholic". the little book Grunny Reads out of few times is his copy of the OC Bible
It is a masterpiece!
The book is much clearer about the fact that Dr. Yueh knew the Baron would kill his wife when their bargain was fulfilled. He just wanted her suffering to end. The Baron was having her horribly tortured, to blackmail Yueh into his service.
There is a trailer out for Part 2
Yall should watch the trailer for part 2. That is when things get really hardcore.
You need to watch dune part 2!!!!!
They released a new trailer for Dune Part 2 a few days ago. I'd love to see you react to that.
"Where have they gone, those who've ignored me? What were their fates? Saint Alia of the Knife
~ The Arrakis Godbook
Liet is Chani’s father
Reacting to part 2?
they most likely watched it in theaters.
Part 2 comes out Nov 3. and Part 3 based on the 2nd book Dune Messiah has been green lit but likely itll be 2-3 years out.
Technically Dune (the first book) takes place 20,000 years in our future. Technology is heavily regulated due to the Butlerian Jihad. Where humans fought humans who were in charge of A.I. So technology is both advanced, but not. Humans have to better themselves in order to make up for the fact that computing technology is no longer allowed.
Dune Part Two will be released on the 3rd of November.
Edit: Due to the current writer's strike, Dune Part Two is postponed until 2024.
As good as this movie is, the novel is so much more compelling. The nuances in the novel is simply amazing. A masterpiece of storytelling.
Spice is highly addictive. Paul got hit with his first big mega blast. Straight, raw uncut. It’ll make sense later.
Humanity has scattered across the known universe for millennia, which accounts for the different looks of the various houses and factions. They all live in very different environments, and have adapted to them. Wait until you see someone who's ingested enough spice to become a Guild Navigator...they no longer look human.
Dune 2 release November this year 👍 Trailer for Dune 2 just came out. HBO also making a spin off TV series called Dune sisterhood. Set several hundred years before the Dune films. About the politics behind the Bene Gesserit. Those powerful women that Paul's mother is from.
Your commentary about humanity would be smaller, weaker, softer is a ongoing theme through the book. Starting with overthrowing the thinking machines.
The Bene Gessert breeding program. The visions of the end of humanity. With the solution is following the golden path.
Dune part Two can mes to theatres November 3, 2023
Lord of the Rings is NOT science fiction as it doesn't involve science. The genre is fantasy.
Lord of the Rings aint science fiction my man😂 it is fantasy
I suggest you go watch this movie in a proper theather... I would love to see you react to it here on the channel, but, as well as dune, Dune 2 its a movie that really loses a lot of its beauty when you watch it in a small screen, to watch it in a big proper screen and withe proper sound system its another experience, trust me.
The book is superb….one of the best I’ve read. The sequel is due out the fall of 2023 I believe.
I recomend Brendan Fraser movies
We loved The Whale!
Your "humans would be softer" comment would be valid if not for the Butlerian Jihad that outlawed helper machines that require AI, humans had to relearn to work regardless of caste or class.
The Dune Saga has been written by Frank Herbert. It's six books long and discribes the evolution of mankind across thousands of years.
The movies - Dune I and Dune II - are just telling the story of the first book.
Frank Herbert took inspiration of many different cultures an languages to create his vision of the far future.
You might have recognized some arabic words.
The giant sand worms - for example - are called Shai-Hulud, by the native fremen people.
Shai-Hulud is very close to the arabic شَيْء خُلُود (Shai-Khulud), which could be translated to "thing of eternity" or "thing of immortality".
The giant sand worms are the closes thing to the fremen people ... to a god.
This information I'll give you now will not spoil anything of the story of the upcomming movie. Remember, the new movie will still just include the story of the very first book. But it is, nevertheless, a spoiler to the whole saga. The thing I'm going to tell appears in the book Heretics of Dune, which is the fifth of the six books.
So - SPOILER WARNING - to all the readers, from here on:
As the story of Dune progresses - more than 4000 years after Paul Atrides - a human mind will combine with the giant sand worms. And create a new beeing. This new kind of sand worm will not be called Shai-Hulud anymore... but Shaitan instead.
Shaitan (شَيْطَان) is arabic,as well. In the arabic language, شَيْطَان is the name of the devil.
You really need to check yourself.
You do realize that you are actually explaining to an Egyptian man and his son -- who were watching with Arabic subtitles, no less -- about Arabic words in the film? And offering your own translations? "You might have recognized some arabic words", you said.
I mean...really? Seriously?? You do see how that is quite insulting to both them and their culture, right?
Especially coming from someone for whom (I am guessing -- pardon me if it is not the case) that it is not your first language (or nation, ethnicity, or culture).
It has never been my intention to insult anyone.
I just used a... let's say "flowery language"
And I am quite sure that somebody who s used to the Arabic tongue would appreciate the effort... because the Arabic language is one of the most poetic way of expression, known to mankind. Filled with metaphors and ambiguity.
Besides that, I tried to translate some words, for two reasons:
1st. The are words - shai-hulud, for example - which are actually not Arabic words. They are bastardisations. Created by Frank Herbert himself.
Shai-hulud is based on an Arabic word. But it's perpously alternated, to reflect great divide in time.
2nd - I have written about an Arabic word, which is not in the movie. It appears in another one of Herbert's Dune books. 3.000 years after the story of the film.
But, the awareness of this special word helps to understand the actual meaning of shai-hulud. And this second word is 100% Arabic!
And some people, who happen to read my comment might not be able to understand it. So I ve just translated it. To it's meaning, as well as to it's pronunciation.
I used my precious time and tried to formulate a comment, because I like Frank Herbert's work, as well as both of the UA-camers, and their work.
Oh, and I love Arabic!
As you might have recognized already, English is not my mother tongue.
But I did my very best to write a nice and interesting comment. On order to reveal the meaning of a term, in Arabic!
... I hope I have not insulted you anymore then I already did, with this little explanation.
nathanruggles ...Man, you are a piece of work. Your life must be so empty and meaningless to be such a petty person, I pity you.
Go with God and Be Safe from Evil. 😎 👍
chriswerth918 ...Relax, you said nothing wrong. Don't apologize or feed this woke troll. He's a sad little man and desperate for attention.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
Do a reaction to the new Dune 2 trailer. It's great.
Are you going to watch Part 2?
As a native Arabic speaker do you find the pseudo Arabic words in this movie (like lisan al ghaib) distracting?
The sweat and tears are filtered, obviously, else they'd dehydrate and toxify you. Why does every reactor not get this? lol
Probably because it’s not that clear
If every reactor doesn’t get this.
Sem mencionar que o traje destilador recicla TODOS os resíduos do corpo, líquidos e sólidos, e recupera toda a água possível (exceto as lágrimas)...foi ótimo ver a reação de vocês...muito, muito bom trabalho....
the first 3 books and by extension the movie is a metaphor of the usa (House atreides) and russia, then the soviet union (house harkonnen) exploiting the middle east and the Arabs (the Freman) for their oil (represented by the spice). How you guys missed that is funny to me :D Anyway FREE PALESTINE!
Dune is influenced by many things, it’s not an allegory.
@@vhufeosqap lol yes it is, ofc its influenced by many things, like for example the messiah myth/religion and how it controls people, which we can see happening even today (cough the zionists using judaism to occupy land and kill innocent ppl cough) so, yeah it is an allegory, for many things. All the best.
Spice
The spice must flow.
Arabic is such a vast, rich language, but these subtitles were not it. Duncan’s affectionate, playful “my boy” for Paul gets translated as just صديقي “my friend”? Surely there are better options 😢
yeah the sentiment there is more of Duncan sees Paul as younger brother or cousin its more familiar then just a friend
maybe
Arakis = Irak
Spice = oil
...
Valuable substance that is vital for transportation and comes from a place full of desert and sand.
Yup it's oil.
😻 Promo SM
does this guy say anything other than “wtf”???? lol
You dad is gonna do his back in if he keeps sitting like that. Has to sit upright.
