People expect a war movie... but it's a horror movie.

It was a pleasure to see both of you reacting to this movie. It's a good thing to see your connection with your father and often enough the input and live experience of an elder is vital to understand some movies or give a better insight. 🙂 "Das Boot" is a very realistic film about WW2 and especially doing service on a submarine at that time. People are people everywhere, and soldiers are ordered to do their duty. It doesn't matter for which side they are fighting for. 😔 🙋🏻‍♂️

One of my absolute favourite movies! The ending is just.... Okay. Does it really matter if either of them don't remember? For us as an audience it does, but... Anyways: I love to see people react to this movie, I'm a Norwegian living in Slovakia who loves Asian cinema and also languages so great to see this kind of content XD

During the filming the young German actors stayed in a large summer house nearby, and at some point they had a little too much fun, and was promptly told off by Roland Møller, who plays the danish sergeant, and they got a little scared of him, because Roland is also a pretty big muscular guy. Note, that there were around 2 million mines to be removed along the coast, while most were found in the first years, thousands remained unaccounted for, and to this day, there are still sections of beach closed off because mines are still turning up. This year marks 80 years since the end of the war, and the danger is still there.

Great movie, not widely enough seen. Roland Moller, as the sergeant is a great casting. Strikes me as having the toughness and attitude of a man who would have had to escape from Denmark to get right back into the thick of it at Normandy and/or Market Garden by joining the British airborne. P.S., love to listen to your dad's comments.

I wonder if many of these poor kids ( they were too young to do atrocities) were later 'rewarded' with having to return to east germany now part of the Soviet colonial empire.
