Wonderful Song
The Official Video is Amazing Also
One of my very favorite songs. I rate it a 10. I still listen to it regularly. Geoff Tate’s vocals are amazing…..he’s easy n the eyes too😉
@leannmiller7153
Yup, he gets a thumbs up from Mrs.BP2 also.😉
I used to live for this song! It was killer! Turn up the radio all the way and jam out. Thanks for the memory. And yeah, Geoff is something to look at! Great voice too.
@Kari5274
I think Mrs.BP2 may have had a little crush there.
Hey Mr & Mrs, never heard of these before but it was pretty good, enjoyed the show. Cheers!
I know this one well. Great song. Hello to Mrs. BP2 AND you also BP2. Geoff has a great voice.
Imo one of the greatest songs ever written cheers 🍺🍺🍺
Hello Mrs BP2!
No worries, none us girls missed that fact that along with a fantastic voice Geoff is a bit of eye candy!
😅😊
Who yells at you? Let me know who they are and I'll set them straight. You're doing a great job.😉😊
I appreciate this part of the BPR journey as well.
Thanks for doing this one.
You said their name correctly.
This band overall didn't get the credit they deserved.
I'm not sure if I recommended these songs of theirs before or not.
Home Again it's from 2009 and features his then 10 year daughter.
It's about a soldier father and his daughter dealing with his deployment
Please do the official video it brings home the song even more.
It's hauntingly beautiful and she did a great job as well.
Eyes of a Stranger is good too.
Consider doing the live version of Sound of Silence by Disturbed as well. I know you amd BP1 did the video but believe it or not the live one on Conan is even better. Despite the fact that David Draiman was recovering from the flu.
No shit! Count me and the boys in too!! Nobody messes with our Mrs. B2
6 AM here in Las Vegas! 91 I was... 18? My favorite band, favorite song at the time... People who had never heard them before called them a Pink Floyd ripoff because this was their biggest hit... But they basically popularized Progressive Metal 1st and this was their 5th album. I recommend Eyes of A Stranger next 😊
MrsBP2 is, by far, the best looking of all the BPs.
@deanrobertoleson4669
Cheers Dean, you are of course correct and I am lucky enough to see her every day too.
Cheers
BP2
That was definitely a new one for me. I really liked the instrumentals and the lead singer provided great vocals. But there was nothing about the song that really drew me in or conveyed any real emotion for me. It was a pleasant song, and the orchestra added a lot of fullness, but nothing about it would prompt me to put it on my playlist. My score- a solid 6. Great reaction as always.
This was probably their most popular but most people miss the missing.
It isn't my favorite overall.
It’s ok to be wrong.
Queensryche is best known for this track and their 1988 concept album Operation:Mindcrime, regarded as one of, if not the greatest, metal concept albums and ranked along side Floyd's The Wall and The Who's Tommy, etc. This song earned them their second Grammy nomination (they were previously nominated for "I Don't Believe In Love" from Operation: Mindcrime). If you don't like this track from the band one of their other hits from the 1990 Empire album would be a better fit for your musical tastes. Jet City Woman was very popular, has a great hook and is more upbeat versus this track which is meant to sound like a lullaby to a child who has had a vivid nightmare, therefore is supposed to be slow and subdued. Silent Lucidity's orchestration was composed by the late, great Michael Kamen, who had previously worked with the Pink Floyd. Kamen had been working with Queensryche since 1984. Michael Kamen was also film composer who you might recognize from movies like Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and Mr. Holland's Opus, to name a few. He'd continue on with Queensryche on a few more tracks (most notably "Real World") and later Metallica would hire him to arrange orchestration for their concert. Geoff Tate is regarded as one the top metal/rock voices of all time. He is a baritone (unlike Halford and Dickson who are tenors) with a 4 octave range. Their MTV Unplugged performance is stunning, btw, especially The Killing Words and I Will Remember.
@rbrebrook
Hello and thank you for all the information.
I remember Sir Michael Kaymen for his work with Eric Clapton as I am a big fan of his music, maybe not his general thoughts.
They composed the film score for "Lethal Weapon"
Cheers
BP2
Hello BP2's from Oz! Oh, yes! Didn't I tell you about this a while ago? Even the official clip is worth a look too! Geoff Tate was a top class vocalist in this incarnation of Queensryche (they'e still going without him today!) . Compare this to "Suite Sister Mary" by Queensryche, live from Operation Livecrime or "The Needle Lies" from the same show?? (The album was "Operation:Mindcrime" and remains appropriate both socially and politcally today, if not more so!!) The song "Revolution Calling" might be the most striking. One of my best friends, who is no longer with us, thought my music was "scary" - apart from "Silent Lucidity". It is forever hers - Carolyn Webb.
Complete band autographs for album rage for order, pics with all band members and this song is a easy guitar pick. Love some ryche.
@johne.7494
Nice one John, to be honest we had never heard of them, but they looked and sounded great
@BritPopsReact the vocal range of tate is amazing way to many hits to list, this group should be one of your monthly, as you did with bocephus. Hank jr
This song from the record had the orchestra in the background. In the recording, the orchestra is better in the mix and adds a lot more flavor to the song. Live versions are always hit or miss on the mixes.
They have many great songs.
Geoff Tate As 1 of the most underrated voices in rock. They started out as a hair metal band. As much as I'm a die hard penataholic Queensryche will always be my favorite band. Whenever I get a new car, bc I had a problem crashing them, or move to a new place the first song I play is Silent Lucidity . When I play the game What 1 book, what 1 movie, what 1 album And what 1 song would you want if you were on a deserted island I always come back to silent lucidity and the album it came off of titled "Empire". Lead singer Chris Degarmo practices lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is when you're having a dream and you actually enter it and control it. I normally do not like live versions of songs but this one hits the mark compared to the studio version. Do yourself a treat and watch the studio version The video is an absolute stunning piece of work. So happy that you reacted to them
in your video you say you are looking for things out of the ordinary... in 1991 was a hit song "I'll Never Let You Go" by Steelheart... they are know for having one of the highest pitch singers.
This song is a 10 to me. Queensryche was a far bigger band than Mr. Big in the United States.
What I love about true artists is that you can’t fit them into one clear box. I love when people discover that the same group that brought you Into the Eyes of a Stranger also can switch it up entirely and level you with Silent Lucidity. That’s the power and palette of an incredible artist such as Queensryche and the vocal performance of Geoff Tate in particular! Enjoy!
This album came out in 1990. They had other popular albums before this one so they were definitely old enough for the 80s.
Love them 😊they're one of my favourite
I saw Queensryche in 1986 when I was 16 on their "Rage for Order" Tour in Orlando, FL. They were the opening act for Ozzy.
Enjoy BP2 and Mrs BP2 this guys are a sophisticated band that we’re ahead of their time ❤ them
Queensryche led the "Seattle Sound" in the main stream. This song was a hit before Nirvana hit it, or Pearl Jam/Temple of the dog. This was the first of a wave of "alternative" sounding rock.
When I feel like a cry I sometimes go here 😎
This song is a definite 10. It’s a masterpiece. I don’t think you fully understand the meaning. Also you have got to hear their other songs to fully appreciate Geoff Tates voice and how great the whole band is. The orchestra is part of the song it wasn’t just for the awards show.
This is a bit of an odd song in the queensryche library. If it's your first time hearing them, this song doesn't really give you a taste of what Queensryche is about. I would suggest you listen to "Take hold of the flame" live in Tokyo 1984, to get a better Idea.
this version is really close to the recording
Agreed.
Orchestration done by sir michael kaymen
@QnRyche
Thanks for the info, as yes Sir Michael Kaymen, he worked with Eric Clapton on the "Lethal Weapon" Movie Score as I remember
Cheers
BP2
@@BritPopsReact .I got to meet Michel at a bar in seattle with the singer of queensryche . Great guys
I believe Michael Kaymen was also the conductor for the Orchestra that accompanied Metallica.
Hehe, a LOT if us have that reaction to Geoff! He has charisma, a fantastic VOICE, he's smart, a great lyricist (although this one was written entirely by guitarist, Chris DeGarmo.
This is a ballad, and Geoff is singing in his lower register here. You two MUST check out "Take Hold of the Flame" live in Tokyo 1984 to check out one of their early, more intense songs. Geoff belts out three E5's in that one. Great song! Youll really enjoy it!!
SO many good songs by them!
'Anybody Listening?"
"Another Rainy Night*
"The Killing Words" from MTV Unplugged 1992.
Just to get you started.
Geoff has the BEST voice Ive ever heard! Just blows me away, still, after 30+ years of listening to him. The ENTIRE band are ALL spectacular songwriters, musicians, and performers! But, I'm getting carried away.
Easy to do!
Yes, what you heard here, with the orchestra, is the same as the official version that's on the album.
I really enjoyed your reactions and hope you do MORE Queensryche! 😝
I must not be wearing my 'Lady Goggles', my heart is definitely not fluttering. He actually reminds me a little of both Midge Ure and Tony Hadley to be fair, and they never did anything for me, either. Meh. I'm an odd bird.
I'd come in at around an 8. It was nice as rock ballads go, but it didn't wow me.
Lovely to see Mrs BP2 having some cheeky fun, and if anyone shouts at you, I'll set my cat on them. That isn't an idle threat, she's the devil incarnate.
@tundiel
I'm with you, he did nothing for me either
.Oh yes, Mrs.BP2 is getting a little more relaxed now and having some fun.
Thanks for the cat offer, we will keep that in mind
Mrs BP2 needs to react to Queensryche “ Take Hold of the Flame”. Live from Tokyo
Great deduction Mr BP2 this song was intentionally created by Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate to be a Pink Floydesque song and they nailed it imo
This is always a beautiful listen. (Mrs BP2 - i agree that he is a stunning young man.) I am surprised that it wasn't covered by later bands. Then Ren came through with it. It is one of his releases before Hi Ren
Oh Hell no! You ain't seen nothing! Queensryche "Take Hold of the Flame" live ua-cam.com/video/xk84dVq644k/v-deo.html
That'll blow your minds!
This is a good one, I was really into their earlier stuff, up to Operation: Mindcrime. Ohhhh.....Yes, Mrs. B2, Geoff Tate was quite the looker back in the day. I went to 3-4 of their concerts in the 80s & 90s and they always kicked ass!
If you want to hear what this band can really do you should listen to Take Hold Of The Flame live in Tokyo 1984. It'll blow your mind. You'll get a chance to see what this band is capable of doing and what Geoff Tate's voice is capable of, you won't be disappointed.
Here is a bit of queensryche trivia for you Brits their album the warning they were the last band to use the original beatles mixing board at abby roads studio
Would be great to see you do I WAS MADE FOR LOVING by KISS!!
Shhhhh........Mrs. B2, this is for your eyes only! ua-cam.com/video/BO9aD4mzSE8/v-deo.html It's Type O Negative's cover of "Cinnamon Girl" The singer/bassist, Peter Steele was damn near 7 feet of heaven! Great voice AND for an extra tip...... Playgirl, August 1995, he was the centerfold, and he brought it! RIP Peter😢
Geoff Tate.....maravilloso....
Little harsh on the scoring you two....😊
@Kari5274
Ah, sorry about that, if it doesn't make the "ironing" playlist it's gong to be a low scoring one.
All a bit of fun in the end
😊😊
@@BritPopsReact it was a great 90s memory. I would have given mid to high 8. If you add in the sexy singer in Geoff Tate that pushes it to 9. 😊
Geoff Tate 👍👍
@juhavaris2144
What a handsome dude and he can sing too. grrrrr 😜
Mrs BP2 may have had a little crush there
If your looking for something a little of the beaten path I suggest a great group named BABYMETAL
looks like your in the UK so maybe you could try “ karate live at Download UK
I know we speak the same language but I am having difficulty understanding you.😢 especially trying to hear you over the music.
