I can't even possibly imagine the journey you've been on to get to where you are now, but I'm pretty sure it's been an almighty monumental battle for you. What an inspirational person you are. hi sarah! my names louise, im nearly 14 and i live in Australia! 16 days ago i had a seizure in my home at dinner. i was transferred to hospital as suspected stroke. after they made sure it there was no bleed to my brain, they put me into the icu for around 3 days. there, all i could do was sleep and by the third day could say yes/no and single words. i was moved to a ward the 3rd day. the doctors were still doing every test i could think of because they didn’t know what it was, and still don’t. they say i have the symptoms of viral meningitis but test positive for it. i got home a week ago today and im so incredibly grateful. looking at the guide of aphasia they gave me and seeing all of the elders pictures was strange for me, i feel like im not meant to have it because of my age. the doctors say they haven’t seen anyone before my age with viral meningitis. my health was genuinely perfect other from having tonsil itis about 4 years ago. now, my speaking is probably at about 70% and gets worse when im tired but im so grateful and proud of how quickly i recovered. luckily i could still physically move easily after the seizure. anyways, i just wanted to put this out as you were/are young with aphasia. any tips would be loved, thankyou so much and i hope you have a good rest of 2020
ps if some of this doesn’t make sense i haven’t started my rehab for writing yet so please don’t mind that :)

Your writing is not far from excellent when compared to the average Internet poster. Totally understandable and the flaws are minor and my brain simply ignored them and read them the correct way - that means whatever message you are trying to tell someone will get through -- and that is what matters! Thank you for posting; I learned new things from you which will be added to my "bank of knowledge". Hope you have clawed back those missing 30% of your speaking abilities!

She recovered eventually and I know you will too. Im just learning about all these things really, so forgive me if I've misspoke.... But thanks for sharing, and I'm sending positive vibes.

You should look up the boxer who got put into a vegetative state. He couldn't move or talk or anything but his mom just believed in him and worked so hard for years with him and encouraged him and now he is doing soooo much better. I'm not saying that will or can happen for everyone, but it's a great story that will give you hope. I forget the name of the boxer though but he's Mexican.

Congratulations on your engagement and sharing your story with everyone. I have been following your videos over the years. You and your experience have been an inspiration for a young adult book I am writing. Thank you.
As far as tips for your wedding: remember that the event is for you and your family to share in the moment of love between two people. It doesn't matter what dress you have, how many flowers, or how big a cake. Don't let the stress get to you. When in doubt, keep it simple. After being married for 25 years, I couldn't care less about the event. All I care about is the man that is my husband and best friend. I wish you all the best in this new chapter of your life.

I've been using your videos for the last 8 years or so in a course that I teach in human neuropsychology for undergraduate students. It's very helpful for them to see that strokes can happen to anyone. Being able to see someone who is "like them" helps make it seem more relatable to them. Most of my students are planning on having careers in health care fields (medicine, physical therapy, speech pathology, etc), so they usually find your story very interesting. Hopefully, they'll be in a position to help someday. Thank you again for sharing your story and helping others.

I just found your videos and I must say your process is inspiring. It really speaks to the possibilities of health sciences (and of course perseverance!). I wish healthcare could be available to all in the States.
