I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE! I love that he refuses to bend to a diseased society and i love that shes not your oh so common, pretty, but afraid to be an individual girl next door. They are both broken in their own ways but when the broken pieces come together they fit perfectly like a puzzle snd its actually the broken pieces that are the most beautiful in each character. ❤❤❤
yeah its also cool that like he prolly thought his whole society everyone anyone he saw was trash, like he had no idea that someone near him had the same feelings its wild

Maybe a little after credit moment ❤ if not that then release an actual physical concept album. I love when films or shows so that, like over the garden wall had a little bonus thing of wirt’s tape. It’s cute world building.
Probably the unnecessary use of the hard R in the opening scene. And just random racist remakes that really were not needed and didn’t add anything to the film. Still a good movie tho
Simon was facing jail. Him meeting her was something of a miracle. Then he DOES as he should, he accepts the one he needs. Almost Shakespearean but gorgeous. Gonna enjoy those tots
Is anyone else completely obsessed with this movie since they first watched it? Is there anyone else who can't stop thinking about it? Does anyone else watch it multiple times like they're a kid again? Does anyone else know a funny scene is coming, but still laugh? Know a sad scene's coming, but still tear up? Does anyone else's chest cave AND explode while watching this movie? Does anyone else love Patty and Simon? Is anyone else scared they may have gone through life without discovering Dinner in America, and are relieved after experiencing it life is now complete? ...just me?
Bought the Blu-ray on a whim last week...Watched it two nights ago and damn well fell in love with it. Every time I think of it...And the Watermelon song moment...I just can't help but smile.

Just saw this movie. I wasn't expecting much but it wound up being the best movie I've seen in years. It had me tearing up at points which I wasn't expecting at all. One of the rare few films where I felt sad when the credits rolled because I didn't want it to end.
Just saw this movie. Came into it totally blind, hadn’t heard anything about it or seen any trailers, my girlfriend’s sister just put it on while we were hanging out. I hated the first half hour and just found the movie to be relentlessly unpleasant. Then it started to click for me when he starts staying at her house. By the time it got to this scene, I was hooked and had fallen in love with these two as a couple. I think this may be one of my new favorite films.
That moment when somebody discovers their true self... And somebody else falls in love with that "true self"... Kyle Gallner is incredible! I've been watching his stuff since "A Haunting in Connecticut" and "Jennifer's Body". Such a great actor. Idk how he does it but seeing him never gets old!!
This is one of the best films I've had the opportunity to watch and it's a real goddamn shame it probably won't get the attention and accolades it deserves.
I honestly thought this was sung by the lead singer of Metric at first. Totally in that wheelhouse, but this was created, cowritten and sung by the actress and director of the movie! Mind fucking blown

I had a sliver of Simon's emotion... Not long ago a band I was obsessed with growing up got back together for a reunion tour. I had never seen this band live in their heyday, but they've helped me through so many tough and lonely times, as we all go through coming of age. Hearing their music live for the first time brought tears to my eyes, I had to hide the fact😂. Simon already loved this mystery crush of his, her words must've repeated themselves endlessly in his head. His musical mind had probably filled in some background, but how could he imagine the artist's interpretation? How could he have ever expected to hear it live through his ears? I'm not saying my experience is anything compared to what he went through listening to her for the first time after years of letters and "love poems," but having had that concert experience, and having had the luck of being in love with someone, I can quite imagine it.

While Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess is off making Minecraft: The Movie and an animated unicorn film, Adam Rehmeier is carrying the offbeat indie comedy torch. A movie that actively pushes away the audience in the first half and then pulls you in with a big hug in the second half. This movie has a story structure similar to its main characters. Rough at first, but real vulnerability underneath. The best of 2020 and one of the best comedies of the last 20 years.
I’ve been thinking about this scene a lot and how Simon read the letters so many times he had a favourite that he knew just by the date. I also think he clearly knew what music to put beneath it, further emphasising that his love language (like Patty’s) is music - he thinks and feels in music. I also think that Patty does this in one take because, as she said in the film, she sings these songs to herself. She thinks and feels in music as well & this is per expression of her love for Simon & with his backing music is his expression of his love for Patty. But the thing I haven’t noticed anyone else say yet is I think she already had the melody pretty much down and Simon already knew the music straight away so I think it’s a little hint at just how much the music boyfriend and music girlfriend are soulmates and on the exact same wavelength ❤️

I NEED to see her character development into the punk riot girl band lead singer!!!!!!!!!
Wanted to see it for Brittany Sheets but going to be searching out all movies by Adam Rehmeier, Kyle Gallner and Emily Skeggs. The whole cast just did an awesome job.
