  • Hope this helps a few of you chainsaw owners out there. Comment if you have how-to video requests and the Chief and I will see what we can do.

For the most part good information. However, two problems should be addressed. At 5:35 in the video Chief says, “Oh, cool little wire here keeps that from falling out”. The so called little wire is part of the mechanism that drives the oil pump which provides oil for the bar and chain. The second problem is related to the first problem at 8:33 Chief slaps the sprocket drum on the clutch. When you look at the rim on the backside of the sprocket drum you notice a little notch on the edge of the rim. This notch needs to be placed on top of the so called little wire mentioned at 5:35 in the video. A flash light can be helpful to assure alignment when seating the drum in place. When properly reassembled the oil pump works as the clutch engages the sprocket drum hence pumping oil to the bar and chain only when the chain is turning. Hope this provides insight and clarification to any novice backyard mechanics.

At bdc with the rope you take a chance on the rope getting caught in the exhaust port wouldn't you? I always make sure I'm past the exhaust port myself
