  • The Milwaukee Tool Company recently introduced some new items to their Packout line at their 2nd Pipeline in 2020 The Milwaukee Packout Customizable Work Top became available last November, so I decided to order one from The Home Depot and test it out for awhile for this review.
    The work top is made of impact resistant polymers and a marine-grade plywood work surface. The top weighs 5.26lbs. It measures 2.0" high, 15.3" deep, and 23.9" wide. To find out more and to see the current price, check out my Home Depot link just below.

    I just bought one to secure the contents of my crate, when traveling. A crate & a lid to hold my tools, is all I need for small jobs around the inside of my house, or in the yard or shed. It’s a place to set my tool bag on top of, to keep from crowding my work bench. I looked at your video, for more examples for its uses. Thanks!

    I use mine as a topper for my rolling tool cart in my shop. I use the dolly, drawers, packout vaccum, compact organizers, thin toolbox, then the work surface on top. This gives me a rolling tool cart about 44" high for all my most commonly used tools, with a vaccum built in, that rolls around with me in the shop. The work surface is a nice general purpose top to place anything I need that I may not want on an assembly table or workbench. Good place to put the tracksaw while I setup another cut, coffee, drivers, glue bottles, etc. Can't really place a cup of coffee on top of pack out stuff!

    I'm thinking of creating a checkout station for my art fair booth. From the bottom up, it would have a handmade dolly with large total lock casters, 1 Packout mounting plate, 2 Packout two drawer boxes, and 1 Packout tool box. I would buy 3D printed Packout feet and attach them to the underside of a hardwood work surface so it can be mounted on top of the entire stack. Finally, I would wrap three sides of the stack in Sunbrella fabric so it doesn't look to my customers like a pile of toolboxes!

      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 роки тому +1

      Wow, it sounds like you've really put some thought into this. I hope to try some Packout drawers soon. They're out of stock everywhere right now. Let me know if you ever post pictures of your Packout checkout station. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

      @@MarkThomasBuilder I know that this system would be much sturdier than what I currently have, but will it save me any time during setup and breakdown of my booth? That's the big question. Saving time during setup is key. I could avoid the fabric wrap altogether if Milwaukee sold their black EU boxes in the US!

      FWIW, my company is a vendor at trade shows, festivals, and conventions. We're not in the tool business. Folks seem to like our Packout. It stands in all of its red glory; it's not uncommon to receive a compliment. Brings our booth a little more down to Earth, IMO. Either way, the Packout is fantastic for doing shows. As for breaking down, the rolling bottom box and a XL box hold all of our product containers and display fixtures. The rest goes into a Large box. Very quick. There's so much space.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 роки тому +7

      They're an expensive habit for me, lol. I like the way they all work together and if they help my stay organized, it's worth it. Especially when bringing tools to the job site. I've built homes all over Michigan and there have been times I've forgot some tools at home due to a lack of organization. I often found it cheaper to buy another tool on the road instead of a return trip.

    • @babydyke416
      @babydyke416 3 роки тому +2

      I agree on how pricey they are. However they are also built better than any others IMO. All other set ups are held together with a latch on each side and these have multiple feet/points of contact. They slide together and apart sooo smoothly too! I have issues with having too much stuff and too little space. This set up will help me a lot with all of my crafting and tools! I basically decided that I no longer want a solid shop tool box set up and instead I am slowly investing in these packouts for my set up! When I look at the cost of good tool chests vs these packouts (and I tend to grab and bring whatever project to wherever I plan on going) It started making sense for me and my on the go lifestyle.

    • @jhill6033
      @jhill6033 10 місяців тому +1

      They are the best set up in its class but not necessarily for A DIY guy? The reason I say this is because, if you are on construction sites, wheels and plastic materials need to be heavier to withstand Transport. If your just using it for your home projects only, look into the craftsman system. Very good and about a 1/25 of the price of the packout system.
      I went with packout because I flip houses and my system needs to be transported from site to site daily.
