Love this video, I’m welder/ blacksmith professionally but a nerd for pretty much anything tool related and this video was way up my ally! Did field construction for 10 years so this was a lovely throwback
I have a packout system that's pretty epic. I do general home improvement so dabble in everything. I'm up to 4-6' stacks and two double wide trunks. Plus many large tools like table saw, miter saw, pencil vibrator, large plumbing snake. I can just barely move it all safely in my club cab 6.5' bed truck.
Awesome video my dad was a commercial electrician back in the mid 80’s they sure have come a long ways from using 5 gallon buckets for tools and supplies lol. Thanks for sharing
Can you do a service/utility bed tour of someone who does welding/fabrication work and someone doing more mechanical/equipment service work out of a similar rig. Would also like seeing a general contractor working out of a utility bed. Recently swapped my pickup bed out for one and would love seeing more of how other guys/gals have theirs set up.
Man seeing all his tools makes me miss working in electrical but i couldnt do the apprentice pay and went back to automotive after about a year and a half. Money is good after the apprenticeship if u can financially get through it.
That was a cool video. All of the different trades have unique and interesting tools. Lots of the stuff crosses over to multiple trades but the use priority and focus shifts, interesting to see. That guy has a nice rig, appreciate seeing it!
Maybe I’ll have you come to the tire shop some day and see what all goes on here. I change tires on tractors, semis, mining equipment, trailers, car, motorcycle, atv, forklifts, and I’m building my own shop from scratch. Would love to have a video for you in the future in mid Michigan.
I do residential remodels and have a very similar layout with packout and a bed slide. I LOVE IT! my only gripe is that now there's hardly any room for product.
Man, I thought just buying tools was expensive, I have looked at some of these pack-out kits and damn they are not cheap and depending on what you buy you can spend a lot of money. Just the cost of one of those VETO bags is NUTS! This has to be $1000's of dollars in just pack-out gear. Tools = Money, bottom line. Thanks for sharing!
Some fun facts about EEHA, Electrical Equipment Hazardous Areas, for those playing along at home... We get taught at school that a fire needs Fuel, Air/Oxygen, and Spark/Heat. When we get into Hazardous Areas, that have the potential to have a Flammable Atmosphere, the Fuel needs to be between an Upper and Lower Explosive Level, UEL/LEL, of the Vapour Levels. Oxygen needs to be in the correct concentration or ratio to support the combustion. And the Spark need to have a certain Intensity and or Duration to start the Ignition process. Then we have Heat, every substance has an Ignition Temperature. Every 'Fuel' has a temperature where it starts to vapourise, and if there is the correct ratio oxygen, or other combustion supporting chemical, the correct energy and duration of heat, it will get to a point where it 'self ignites' or self combusts' written in 'quotations' because it didn't actually do it by itself, a lot of things had to align for it to ignite and combust. lol. Don't rest on your laurels though, the perfect balance that the planet is in is only very small increments away from the perfect balance that combustion needs to turn your once pleasant day into a completely ruined life. So to be 'Intrinsically Safe' the electronics products and individual components in the unit has to not produce enough heat or energy to ignite a Flammable Atmosphere. If that can not be achieved, the equipment is put into an enclosure like the lower one old mate pointed out, that can contain the Explosion. So when you hear 'Explosion Proof' it means it contains the explosion, not that it prevents the explosion, that is what all of the other Hazardous Area methods are for. The thickness of the enclosure, the preheating and running temperatures of the equipment inside, the volume of the explosion, the pressures created, are all part of the design. The number of threads for the cable glands are calculated as a flame path that has to reduce it's heat before it gets outside the box, the gap between the door and the frame has the same task of cooling the gasses, the cable that joins the 2 boxes has to be non migratory, meaning the gasses, unexploded can't seep through the inner parts of the cable, and during an explosion has to be able to withstand 'pressure piling' which is the hot gas pressures forcing their way into the other equipment.
Only comment i would have is same mistake i made with my bedslide, mine also comes out 3/4 out, I habe a 2000lbs one. There are bedslide that slide out 100% which is better haveing milwaukee drawouts, only down side for those is framing is tpugher and will have your platform higher because all syse underneath is more robust.
I have the decked system for my truck at work and it is really not very good, it is a very inefficient use of space to be honest, I thought it was cool when I saw it but after using in it the company vehicle I would never buy the system for my personal business or leisure truck, what he has here is definitely the better option
We..., rather I would like a plumber tool box walk. I'm going into the trade and want to see what might be getting into for future tools and smart set-ups.
That was a pretty interesting one. But as a viewer from Europe, I can't help but find these truck bed setups somewhat impractical. Over here practically everyone in the trades uses some kind of Sprinter type van, which seems to be much more efficient in usage of space, while also having the advantage that one can stand or work inside of it. How come those are much less common in the US? Are trucks cheaper, or is it just force of habit?
I bought the truck instead of a van because of 4WD. I really would have opted for a van if 4x4s weren’t so expensive, and I also have a trailer business on the side now
I too know absolutely nothing about it lol. I assume a lot of guys use vans, but Ethan wanted something with 4wd and could tow his trailer that he has.
@@ToolBoxTour I have not, also haven't used the air one it a while either. Since i picked mine up, electric has come a long way, so im sure they preform well.
That's what I always say. You have to put a cap on so tools are protected and not stolen, so then you need the sliding bed and all of this is just a compromise to avoid a van that you can walk inside and has shelves and drawers
Thanks for checking it out!

those sprinter vans are very rare so because of that they're expensive, also usually aren't 4wd and can't tow trailers
