This was a hit the spring of 1969. I was a senior in high school trying to get over a break up. In 1972 I was in Army Basic Training in Fort Gordon, Georgia just outside of Augusta. On our first leave three friends and I went to Augusta. We went in to a place called the Kit Kat Club. Lo and behold Dennis Yost and the Classics four were in there singing this song. I was already homesick but this really made it worse.
Brings up memories of family trips to New Mexico and my parents always played songs from the 60s. I wouldn't have it any other way, now as a middle aged adult.
My dad told me that this was one of my mom's favorite songs. They were high school sweethearts. The ended up not staying together. Only married for 2 yrs. My mom died 3 yrs ago. Wow, my dad actually remembered this.
High school sweethearts often don’t make it if they get married. They start to wonder what they have missed but doesn’t mean they did not love each other. I’m sure they did and they thought it would last.
I married my high school sweetheart back in 1976.. we divorced after 20 yrs of marriage But we are both still in touch and the Best of Friends today 2024💕 my bestfriend is still married to her highschool sweetheart for 46 yrs now🙏❤
. . . can you you you apply the word genius to this piece of the everlasting word reference . . . thank you . . . tears are alwasys with you only with emotion will they flow . . . :) :) :)
