I was 13 years old when this first came out in 1973 and I would turn it up and still do to this very day everytime I play it, I just turned 62 and seen them 5/31/22 at the Desert Sky Pavilion in Phoenix AZ they're still rocking out.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This song was played on WLS AM radio in Chicago. What station did you hear it on?
@Steve…
this jam is meant to be heard at max volume 🔥❤️✌️ enjoy….
Were the same age....1960 i guess and yeah Steely Dan is awesome!
Born 1961 ... great memories. Steely Dan one of my favorite bands. ❤
Awesome performance. Lyrics are a masterpiece. You don't see songs written like this anymore.
Agreed...So COOL
Do you know what they say Jack and who wrote them?
Walter Becker and Donald Fagen wrote it.
You don't see anything written as good as those days.
It's not live but recorded
This is the standard.
It's perfection unmatched.
Not just for music but across the entire art spectrum.
Is your art as good as Steely is Dan.
Put a dollar in the kitty. Don't the moon look pretty...
It's perfection & grace. It's the smile on my face.
Tonight when I chase the dragon, & the water may change to cherry wine, & the silver will turn to gold.
Time Out of mind..
Love this band they are phenomenal ❤ We definitely had the best bands ever.
Y te banco che . !un salúdo desde Rosario Argentina .!

Musica ipnotica raffinata e un gran ricordo della mia giovinezza
Steely Dan rules the early and mid 1970's. I can really dig this groovy tune, man. Far out! They really gave their all when they made this song.
Kick back, light up and relax!!!! Awwww, the 70's!!!!✌❤
@Honest Mark doing fine so far anyway.
The Steely Dan Sound is incredible and simply irresistable !!!
Still a winner 2023 n many more more years for sure
Iconic band and sound. Great musicians.
👌✌️💯
Utterly unique sound and vibe and timeless. Happy that I am old enough to have enjoyed this in 73 and still do. Brilliant
I'm 64 and seen some great bands..led zep..zappa....hawkwind....floyd....yes....genesis...elp...but unfortunately not these magnificent musicians.
Oh well...can't have everything.
Hey... way younger than 62 here. I had older brothers who listened to 8 tracks of Steely Dan. So I learned early to appreciate great music!!!! So thankful ❣️
CAN'T BUY A THRILL - I think this was one of the best debut albums ever! I love every track.
I agree
"Reelin," " Do it Again, " "Only a Fool," these songs are masterpieces. Beyond any doubt. But the song that gets me is "Brooklyn Owes the Charmer."
Drove with my Kiwi gf in a Mustang from LA to NY in 1978 and this was her favourite band..
If you ever want to check out your sound system, this is the group to do that with, so many layers of music in evey one of thier songs, timeless music was created by a group of geniuses, this one at the top.
Doesn't get any better than this...this will never get old in my book. This band was tight as hell....Grooving
💯💯💯AND STILL playin here too! 2021!
I agree
Groovy man.lord of the heavens above the earth and sea
Çok çok eski harika bir şarkı 70 ler.... Türkiye .....1.13....2.03....en sevdiğim bölümler....
These guys and their brilliant music and songs have easily stood the test of time as far as quality is concerned . I have a feeling their music will be recognised and admired in another 50 years time ... I'll take that bet !
No one compares to Steely Dan. One in a million.

"But I'm just growin old,
Hey Nineteen! Now we can't dance together, now we can't talk at all.."
One of the iconic classic rock version of all times.
Hanging with my friends at 15 years old on Utica Ave and Ave u in Brooklyn ny,dancing to small transistor radio, those were the greatest times, unforgettable.
One of the most iconic guitar solos of all time.
I'm pretty good guitarist even if I do say so myself and I can say I've had to learn many iconic guitar solos in the past and play them well too but for the life of me I just can't get my head around this one!
Who played it? From their first album. Was it Skunk Baxter? I will go research it now.
Along with the guitar solo on "Peg". Legend has it that they recorded a big number of guitarists before they decided which one to use.
I believe the reason you're struggling with it is that's an electric sitar if memory serves correctly. I don't know, maybe they're close enough in tuning that it doesn't matter.
I always thought it was a sitar, did they use a guitar live? The sound here seems to be the studio version.
Ah, the good ole days when my dad was still around , miss you Pops! Thnx for the music 🎶
Bellissimissima canzone anni 70
One of the greatest bands ever and greatest song
You definitely cannot go wrong with steely Dan. It's pretty cool being old guy who loves the music from that era. Kids today have no idea what really good music is.
This is just a whole different level of musicianship. Just sublime. All of it.
Im a 70s baby when my parents played this constantly. What an amazing group steely Dan was n still is to the date 8/3/23❤
Great talent in every decade but never will there be a time like mid sixties to late seventies when so much great music exploded like a bomb and blew us all away. Still the best!
My first Concert, in the Mid 70's was Steely Dan. The Weed was so good back then.
Back then, the fans were called Dan-Fans ...
David Palmer fronted the band during their live shows, and sang "Do It Again" when the group played The Midnight Special in February 1973 (this video).
Donald Fagen sang the vocal on the album version (the audio in this video).
Doesnt sound like donald.
Wow, that song is so freaking good, it still just blows me away. What a band!!
Agreed!
again my friends! this is what is was all about in my young years.never a worry especially with tunes like this....
I love the guitar licks in this song. A classic. Still sounds great.
My parents made sure that my siblings and myself were exposed to a variety of different types of music 🎶. Steely Dan is still at the top of most of our list. Royal Scam was one of the best albums ever written.
Bless you parents!
I was glad when they came out of the studio and you could see them in concert
One of the privileged moments to experience Steely Dan perform live and understand the group's musical brilliance close up by the audience.
This is NOT a live performance. It's all lip-synched for TV. It's the studio recording. But we all enjoy seeing the musicians on this TV broadcast along with hearing the track from their brilliant first album.
