I picked up the classic sunburst model a few years back for a great price. It originally had the E-tune system but the previous owner installed locking tuners. I added a black pickguard because i love that look. Most reviews I have seen are really negative but I love mine and your video and input is spot on cheers!
Hi Wayne and thanks :-) The tuner swap is pretty common with these and I agree with you about a pickguard. The two features I'd like to see on every guitar (where practicable) is a plug in scratchplate like on the Gibson Classic models and the brass zero fret adjustable nut - brilliant features. Cheers, Gary :-)
I just picked on of these up from a store for $340! I checked and the frets are great, electronics clean and clear, and neck is nice and straight. For a US made Gibson that’s absolute insanity. I never expected to ever be able to own one.
Hi Aaron :-) Good grief! That's so inexpensive - well done! A proper Gibson for Epiphone money. It really doesn't get any better than that. Cheers, Gary :-)
Great presentation Gary ,this one's a corker and a very capable instrument in the right hands as you ably demonstrated. The thin cherry satin finish and subsequent play wear certainly adds to the much hailed Gibson vibe.
What a sweet axe beautiful colour. I'm partial to a little wear, myself. On the axe, I mean ... get your head out of the gutter. 😮 As usual, Gary, it's your playing that always brings these gems to life. Another fine review.
Hi Newcy :-) I'm running out of J sounds for the introductions these days. I really made a rod for my own back when I started that caper! Cheers, Gary :-)
I must go and check my lottery ticket, this one seems like a real "Gem" I'm usually a fan of the pickguard on an LP, but the red colour is stunning and it looks perfect without it. Love this one.
Hi Reeldin :-) Ah, you've set me off on a tangent now! I've lusted over a Gem Series LP for ages. I keep putting bids in on them but without success. Agree with you totally about this one, an honest workhorse that plays well is all we need. Right, back on eBay and Reverb, methinks. Cheers :-)
I have a Gibson Standard Tribute Sg it's very close to the old School late 60's and early 70's Sgs yes differences but close..also it's the only Gibson worth there $1,300 price tag and I do mean the only Gibson..my favorite Sgs are the 2021 Epiphone modern figured Sgs and by a country mile...great video Rox..
What a great sounding les paul Gary I don't care what people say Gibsons sound so much better than other les paul copies and the quality is superb that's why people want the Gibson headstock take care mate
Hi Graham and thanks mate :-) Yes, there's a little Melody Maker coming up tomorrow and you can buy a used one of these for the price of a medium value Epiphone. There's some tough choices out there buddy. Take care, too and cheers :-)
Those were a real bargain when they first appeared. I couldn't get over the goofy plastic pickup covers that the first generation LPJ had, though. I seem to recall they there weren't easy to remove. I have a set of zebra '61 pups in my 2015 SG Special. They sound great, IMO.
Hi Nella :-) Yes, they were as cheap as chips when they came out and for me they embodied the true spirit of a decent guitar without being flashy. Never tried to take the plastic shrouds off. I think when Gibson fitted them and gave them those black tuning keys they were going for a bit of a 'thug' look. Cheers :-)
Hi Tony and thanks :-) These are great value guitars and a reasonably inexpensive way to get into Gibson ownership. Really well put together and they play like a Standard IMO. Cheers, Gary :-)
sounds great Gary, might as well buy one that`s designed to mark up, as one that costs a fortune and annoyingly marks up for fun as they all do , cheers Gary see you Wednesday 🤨👍
Hi Andy and thanks mate :-) I'm almost nervous to play one of the high end ones in case I scratch the damn thing! Although Wednesday's now been and gone, we've got something nice for the weekend. They used to ask you if you'd like anything for the weekend in the barber's shop years ago hahahahaha. Cheers :-)
Nice example of an LPJ and great bit of playing in your demo. Is that the Blackstar ID CORE 40 your using and if so, what were the settings ?, as the tone really suited that LPJ.
Hi Chris and thanks :-) It was the ID Crore 40 and I do get asked that question from time to time so I'll try and get something up soon mate. Cheers :-)

Hi Bob and thanks :-) I love the honesty with these. Great materials, awesome pickups and no flashy gimmicks. A proper workhorse. Cheers :-)

@@FoxysGuitarShow Went to a guitar auction this week. So many treasures. I need a bigger overdraft!!
Nice Looking 2014 Gibson LPJ Electric Guitar
Hi KJ and thanks :-) These guitars are still great value at the moment - bag a bargain while you can! Cheers, Gary :-)
@@FoxysGuitarShow I, myself, do have a 2013 Gibson LPJ Electric Guitar
I onwed choclate 2014 lpj. finish too thin. 你考虑过修补油漆吗?
Hi there :-) Yes, Gibson said the thin finish was to promote early relicing to give the guitar a roadworn appearance. Cheers, Gary :-)
