nah that couldn't be him.. and his name is just a coincidence. Let's wait till the end of the battle, then finaly find out just in time to be kidnapped :D
Really don't piss off the cuccos. They do a lot of damage. 5 hearts per peck. You have a cucco swarm and the golden cucco after you. You can stop the swarm by killing the golden cucco, but it has insanely high health.
Back in those days we didn't have round and bouncy boobs in our games. We had the good ol triangular tits. The ones that could poke your eyes out. Ahh good times.
The difference between the old OOT Great Fairy and this one is night and day. The OOT one made my eyes bleed. This one makes blood go to another part of my body. ZING!
I'm still surprised of how Nintendo gave this a go with innuendos. Nintendo is usually child friendly. I kinda like it, though. It's a hell of a lot more different than normal.
I fucking love these games where you can completely annihilate a huge group of enemies. It just feels so satisfying and of course makes me feel like such a badass. I did finally get a Wii U a few days ago. So I can get Hyrule Warriors, which is very high on my list of Wii U games I need to get.
7:00 There's something about seeing Ganondorf running away from a horde of cucco that just makes me laugh so hard. Also, "The Allied Base is in trouble!" just couldn't appear at a better time than this.
Hey man I just beat this game 2 days ago. I enjoy this game greatly, but I can't help but think why Zelda Link to the past wasn't put in, Majora's Mask, or Zelda 2. There are monsters and bosses from those series that really would fit great, the evil wizard, Majora, and practically all the bosses from Zelda 2.
I'm really enjoying this game as a Zelda fan, and as my first Dynasty Warriors title. I think it should be clarified, though, that the game has an element of strategy that goes beyond rampage killing the thousands of mindless baddies that flood the battlefield. Capturing bases and outposts is vital to winning a stage, especially later on, when bad guys get smarter in their strategies to attack your home base. So it's not really a "mindless" hacker and slasher as some critics would have you believe.
Yeah there actually is a decent amount of strategy that is needed when playing the harder missions. It's based on whether or not the game needs you to solve an issue but it's still "omg what objective do I even work on FIRST?!".
There's also strategy in taking out enemies efficiently which is important since you don't always have infinite time to mess around. Strategizing what combos to use to take out large crowds or single enemies is key and also many enemies have strategies to how you fight them. Like for example, if you hit a Darknut once (even if it blocks) and then dash behind it, it will immediately reveal it's weak point gauge. A reference to how Darknut's weaknesses have always been their backs. You can take them out really quickly this way and there's a lot of other enemies with strategies like this. Of course, you can just button mash your way through but on higher difficulties and especially in Adventure mode, that will make you lose the mission really easily.
TheGamefreak8 This game is like Smash Bros in a way. Smash Bros was a fighting game that made things accessible. It threw away the wall of memorizing complex combos and made things easy to learn but added a hidden depth that was tougher to master. In a way this game does the same thing for action games. You don't get destroyed outright for not being the most skilled of gamers but you learn strategies and depth as you go and by the time you're taking on the toughest Adventure mode challenges, you're pulling off some really amazing techniques.
There are few things useful for procrastination like a SomecallmyJohnny binge marathon. The Johnny vs. Playlist is 174 videos long? Perfect, now I'll NEVER get my homework finished or my studying done.
I've been getting sick of games having a ton of story lately, so a game that I can jump right into and start kicking ass in is great in my book. I'll definitely be getting it.
People tend to say this is a mindless action game, and that the npc's are useless. Both aren't really true. You need to be thinking about what's happening on the battle field, what bases are in danger, what allies are in trouble, the main objective. ( In adventure mode you'll also be saying ) how many kills do I have? What's the time? Gotta make sure I don't get hit too many times. That's not even mentioning your various character specific worries, I gotta build up my dark meter on Ganon. I need a water shield for Shiek, Just another water attack and I can shoot Ruto's tidal wave. This balance makes the game really enjoyable. The NPC's do fair decently well, they won't be your offense but they will be your defense. You are just one person so you are much better attacking keeps and letting your allies hold them down. Your named guys will be able to fight but might need back up. Once you learn that they are better suited to hold the line and only need help doing so when the bigger grunts come their way things work much better.
I'm not a Zelda fan and I never played a Dynasty Warriors game before but when I saw trailers for this game, it really looked fun and I wanted to give it a shot. Needless to say, I had a blast tearing hundreds of enemies to shreds on the battlefield. That being said, I'm not a big fan of the fact that my allies has to be the most brain dead and incompetent NPCs I've ever seen in a video game. Also, even though I found it really fun, it quickly bored me and I dropped it after unlocking all the characters.
Trust me man, it's even like that in Dynasty Warriors. AI Allies are completely incompetent, especially on lower difficulties. Sometimes, you even WANT them to be killed so that the game can stop reminding you that they are helpless.
PikaLink91 I guess it bored me because of how repetitive it was because, even though it's fun as hell, mangling hordes of idiots can only amuse me for so long.
***** That would've been awesome. Being a one man army and being able to control and organize your troops at the same time would've made this game even better.
Johnny, thank you SO much for knowing the distinction between voice acting and voice directing. I can't tell you how many critics, fans and common folk alike constantly get that wrong.
Not sure if this was intentional or not but I love this style of reviewing John it's more about the people who are considering buying the game I like how you compare it to other games maybe you have been doing this for a while and I'm only now catching on like a dipshit but I'd like to see this style more often
I agree, it is because of him alone that I am now a Zelda fan. I always considered trying out the series, but never cared for the whole 'fantasy'/'medieval' motif. But then I watched his review of A Link Between Worlds and I had to get it. Now I am a big fan of Zelda.
I like it too. And it makes sense. The people who like the series will have already gotten it and the ones who dont will stay away from it. Aiming it at the people on the fence and informing them of how the game works I think is a fantastic way to do it
Thanks for the video, Johny! You are always well spoken and polite in your videos and I really like that sense of friendliness and professionalism that comes through them. Keep up all the hard work!
Personally what I find even more satisfying than blowing a group of enemies away with one move, is dominating the entire map. I tend to ignore objective like taking a certain keep, just so I can go to all the other keeps and outposts and making the entire map as blue as I can. Such a good feeling
Idk why but I Love this game! I can't put it down and I never get bored of going throughout hoards of enemies. I guess that's more power to me then. Great review Johnny
Sheik's water shield is ridiculous. Then again Redeads and gibdos are ridiculously easy to deal anyway with since they love spamming moves that make them vulnerable.
Sounds terrible to me. I prefer games that take at most 6-15 hours ro complete. I have so little time for gaming I like to prioritize smaller games. I can easily play 4/5 of Metroid series in one sitting, ignoring the Prime games of course.
As far as music tracks go, Psychostorm is my absolute favourite. The organ in the beginning to the choral chant to the trumpets near the end, I could listen to that for hours.
This game looks fun, but not my style. I've already got my eyes on the next main Zelda title whenever that's released, and many other Wii U games when I can finally get one.
well there is such thing as improvision, besides what would you want, a lack luster month that gets delayed several times with the end result being sloppy, or a really good set of videos that really show he took time and love into making them
Totally agree with you on the voice acting thing. Every time I mention "Zelda" games should have voice acting, I get bombarded with hate and mentioning of the CDi games. *rolls eyes* The cutscenes feel so lifeless with no words coming out of the characters. I feel like Tecmo Koei wanted to do voice acting, but Nintendo refused, being stubborn. The fans are also a factor, being unable to try something again for fear of it being bad.
To be honest this probably would of been the perfect time to try it again I mean first it's a spinoff, if the voice acting was terrible Nintendo could just say it was a one time thing and that they would never taint the main series with it. Plus it's a Dynasty warriors game, even if the voice acting was bad well it's not like dynasty warriors fans aren't used to it since the voice acting in those games have always been bad (until 7 anyway).
@Fatboyftw32, you literally took the words out of my mouth. This was the perfect chance to try it! Fans would still complain. I wish they would just give us the option to have voice acting on, or for people who don't like the voices, have an option to have the characters shout their usual gibberish. Would it kill to have options? Everybody wins.
@NintendoSEGAreviewer also make it hard to follow the story cause my are glue to to action not on text boxes plus it doesn't help that text boxes are far to small to read (On Nintendo switch version)
I've never played Dynasty Warriors, but I started playing Hyrule Warriors and immediately thought, "This is what I've been missing!? This is awesome!" I had a similar reaction when I was introduced to Weird Al through Cheese Sandwich in MLP. (Blasphemy, I know.)
I'm surprised you didn't really go more into how the combat works, like the strong and weak attack dynamics and unique character gimmicks. I think that would go a long way in showing people that this game isn't as repetitive as they think. Also I don't care what anyone says, Lana is the best character in this game. Besides the book being awesome, any character that can invoke a j pop idol while riding a fire-breathing argorok through battle is the awesome in my book.
It is quite a short review. He really only does the explanations for stuff such as the 3D Sonic games. Most of the time it's just him saying his opinions, which is fine but like in some of his earlier reviews, relatively deep explanations of the game-play is really nice..
I do agree. Johnny doesn't really go that deep into elements like weakpoints, or why controlling keeps is important. Even if it is quick to learn, understanding those points is part of the strategy to the game. The short-term play is repetitive, that I'll concede, but the difficulty and strategy to the game comes from knowing how to prioritize your actions and what your allies can usually manage on their own or for how long.
Why the muffins can we not play as the horse in this game, OF ALL ZELDA GAMES?! The horse has always been the single most powerful Zelda character in combat. Thanks for not making sense, Nintendo!
Absolutely love this game but damn Johnny you pushed your save file far farther than I have. I ONLY just now got the Great Fairy as a weapon and I don't have Agitha and Zant. Glad you gave this game a proper review and said what needed to be said. DW is definitely a niche series but I believe that this is one of the best Warriors games that juggles the mechanics and gameplay between Zelda and Warriors. They really went out of their way to make sure this has the best balance of both and just playing the game feels good in comparison to the worse, B-team developed Warriors games. Johnny is also right by saying this is basically a stress reducer: you play Warriors takes to just mostly have fun but damn is it good fun. Love this and I hope we get a sequel too!
The Dynasty Warriors formula is perfect if you're busy person. Have alot to do at Uni nowadays, popping in this game and then go on a rampage for 30 minutes - 1 hour to relieve stress and relax is what it's best used for.
Awesome review as always Johnny! I was pleasantly surprised by this! :) As far as the whole voice-acting scenario around the Zelda series goes. I will admit, that I am curious and would like to see Nintendo give it shot, just once, to see how it goes, and if it's good, then awesome. But if it's something that the Zelda series never tries out and just sticks with text-bubbles and dialogue, then I'm fine with that too. As long as the game itself is good, or lives up to expectations, and it has all of the things that I play a Zelda game for (Great Dungeon Design, Beautiful Overworld with things to do, see, or unlock, Fun Sidequests, Good Narrative Plot, and Great Combat) in it, then voice-acting (good or shitty), or no voice-acting, I'll be satisfied customer.
+Soren Daein yeah i know but this games graphics are so much better. i know its because it has its own style, but imagine TP HD looking like hyrule warriors
***** I've actually got a hard copy of said game complete with the Wolf Link amiibo. Thanks to the new content, I actually had incentive to nab every treasure chest in the game. Haven't touched Hero Mode since I don't want to go into a swear-fest over any and all possible deaths since it ups the difficulty. Everything in Normal Mode however is exactly how I remember it from the GameCube version.
***** There's a new item in that dungeon that can be gotten but it takes 3 trips to reach the true final room. It's quite the gauntlet, but it's worth the prize.
Good and refreshingly fair review that won't just give it top score automatically because it's a 'Zelda' game. Then again, it's how I'd expect things from you Johnny. Keep up the good work.
The only thing I don't like about Ganondorf is how slow his attacks are. Especially since he has zero invulnerability during them. You can take so much damage without realizing because of his tendency not to flinch. Still, doing his 5 weak, 1 strong combo is so fun to use in huge crowds.
***** you do realize there is no tier list and if you find one its a terrible list that puts brawl list and randomly put the new characters in them tier lists take years to make
I remember playing a Dynasty Warriors game demo of some description on my Playstation Vita not long ago. I didn't understand anything and the novelty of attacking 18 people at once and watching them soar to the sky and following up with some other means of attack dissolved rather quickly. Maybe that's just because hack'n'slash isn't really my thing, but strangely enough I love beat'em ups like Streets of Rage or Battletoads.
Always found funny how before release just about everyone is like "DW so repetitive why is going to mix with my original and unique legend of zelda game" as if the Zelda games themselves aren't as repetitive as DW
chknrsandTBBTROX73 what you're a green kid who is somehow connected to the gods, something happens and you must collect 3 plot macguffins, you collect them then something happens then you collect about 7 more macguffins, then run towards the final battle all while getting items in a temple that you will never use outside of the temples
TheGamefreak8 True, Zelda games use the same storyline, but there's a gimmick thrown into each game to make it an entirely different adventure. Like Majora's Mask with the mask changing and three day life cycle, Wind Waker's ocean, or (while small changes) Twilight Princess's Twilit Realm and Skyward Sword's sky.
When you break it down, all games are repetitive. They're all based around a main mechanic and it works from there. When games try to make everything in the game vastly unique from each other, usually everything will be mediocre but nothing will be great. In any case, I feel that the gaming community has come to see repetition as being inherently bad. That's not always the case as some of the most repetitive things in life are the most enjoyable.
Ahh... I remember when i first played a Dynasty Warriors game. It was on the GBA and was a birthday gift for my brother. I would be sneaky and play it when he wasn't looking.
Man, imagine Nintendo doing this for all their franchises. Next thing you know, will have "Mario Kombat" with a complex story, hilariously graphic fatalities, "Bowser the Conquerer" as a brutal final boss, & all the princess characters wearing sexy fight gear. I would definitely buy that!
It's basically "baby's first action game". Brain dead enemies, limited amount of moves, bland environments, long healthbars as a substitute for real difficulty, etc.So many Zelda fanboys are falling for this garbage and eating it up simply due to the fanservice. It's nice to look at but has no substance and isn't worth playing. If you want a fun action game, go play Devil May Cry 3, Wonderful 101, or the new Bayonetta 2. Hell, if you're awful at videogames and those are too tough for you then just play God of War.
i will say this though it's kinda neat to play as some one like Ganon, or heck princess Ruto. To see those guys actually showing they are worth a damn is rather interesting to me, and this is coming form a guy who has played TWO Zelda games; The first one, and Ocarina.
Scissorman Implying only the most complex action games can be good. This is a different, albeit simpler and more casual experience and there's nothing wrong with that.
flameheadshero God of War is a "Simple" action game yet is has FAR more depth to it then Hyrule Warriors. (Don't even get me started on the truly great action games that put even GoW to shame such as DMC3, GodHand, etc.) There is barely anything to Hyrule Warriors and the game doesn't really encourage thoughtful play anyways. It's all a pointless chore. If you get satisfaction from literally doing the same moves over and over again with no thought put into it all then good for you but I need just a tad more then that to actually enjoy a game. No fanservice is enough to salvage such a low-effort title.
I have been greatly enjoying this game...for the time that I played it. Yeah, you're right. As soon as I finished Legend Mode, my interest quickly drained, even though I was playing Adventure Mode soon after to unlock content. It's fun, but only in short bursts. I'll definitely pop it back in every once in a while, especially when each DLC pack comes out (got me the season pass), but for now my initial excitement is gone. I still think it was worth $60 due to the sheer amount of content and the novelty of its concept.
metroid other M had voice acting and everyone hated the game all because of the voices, so do you really think they are gonna chance that again with such a self entitled and fickle fanbase
Most people hated Other M because of Samus' personality based on a retconed manga of the same name; Samus suffered PTSD only seeing Ridley once when, in every other game with him in it, she stomped his ass countless times. I really don't think it was because of VA alone. For a better explanation, watch somecallmejohnny's review of Other M.
Tee KH I have the game myself and the only thing I hate is how they do the ability limitations, the prime series gave a better reason, but I still enjoyed the gameplay and the story, and with the ridley thing, its logical that after all the times she has defeated him, and he just keeps coming back, after a while it would start getting to her and she may start realizing her own mortality, she defeated him in the first game, then someone revived him as a cyborg in the prime series, and she defeated him in prime 3, and then in super metroid he came back again, maybe she is starting to think he is indestructible, and finally the memories of her parents dieing against him is starting to sink in
+Ssj Ichigo Never thought of it that way. Still doesn't stop Metroid fans for disliking Other M. I mean, Super Mario Sunshine had laughable VA and people like that game. It would've been nice or experimental to add voice acting into HW. It bugged me, but not enough to lose sleep over.
Hyrule Warriors is repetitive, but it helps that you are continually strengthening your cast of characters, albeit slowly. Still, it feels empowering and great to wipe out fields of enemies and conquer their bases. The chance to play as this many characters from the Zelda universe, each with their own attacks and weapons, is reason alone to own this game!
Also wanted to say that this was a very disappointing choice for the first proper Zelda spin-off. If it was at least something like a DMC or Bayonetta spin-off, then it would've been much more interesting.
Jakeiiiiblade That honestly makes no sense. It doesn't matter what franchise is pasted over the Dynasty Warriors formula, the core gameplay remains the same. That being said, it's a damn fine game. A shame you won't even consider buying and playing it.
Then allow me to rephrase. The Dynasty Warriors formula is far too simple and repetitive for me, and the fact that it has got a Zelda theme adds NOTHING to my interest for this game despite me being a massive Zelda fan. If I ever see anything more to this game than button mashing through non-active enemies to get up to slightly-active enemies then I'll take another think about whether to buy it. It's something that isn't worth more than $10 imo; all there is to enjoy from it can be had by watching someone play it online.
Jakeiiiiblade I guess i can kind of see your point if that's how you feel about the Dynasty Warriors formula. You either like it or don't. Hyrule Warriors however, does have some game modes that change things up a bit. Not by much, but it is something.
Johnny's not kidding when he mentioned that there were many innuendos in this game. Most notably in the Temple of Souls stage in Legend Mode. The thing where Cia notices that Link is using the Master Sword. When I saw that, it resulted in a facepalm after I paused the game. I've heard more than my share of gutter jokes thanks to my older sister. So it's relatively easy to tell that Cia's "sword" comment was one such joke.
The smaller units do just stand around to be hit, they are not there to pose a threat but to build up your kills/special gauge. The bigger ones ( I.e ones with health bars ) will actually attack you and can deal damage. If you get in a fight with a named character watch out they can and will hit you. That's the key thing with the game it is the same thing, but it always feels intense.
Nintendo fan that stayed with Nintendo even after the Mortal Kombat censorships, now being exposed to the innuendos in this game for the first time: Man, 1910 times were SCARY!
I love this game. And I do agree about that chicken issue. The same thing happened to me when I played that same mission you showed. I'm not a huge Zelda fan (I've recently gotten into the series myself) and I never played a Dynasty Warriors game and I just love this game. I think it's the charm and the huge fan service (for the Zelda side) the game has to offer. And I love Zelda's model in this game. Next to the Skyward Sword model, this is my favorite model I've seen from the Zelda franchise in years. And Link looks awesome in that scarf.
My favorite genre of game would be action rpg with hack and slashes like this coming second. I love these types of games mainly because of the satisfaction. It's so much fun to watch your enemies' entire army fall beneath your feet as you literally run through all of their forces. I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
I already have the game yet I stuck around anyway :P 2:38 "You have a few a few options available as soon as you start the game up" Actually everything is locked except Legend Mode until you beat the first Legend mode mission. Great review, I haven't gotten bored of it yet, but I can say for sure I probably wouldn't want a Hyrule Warriors 2.
As a warriors fan I bought this day one. Had a lot of fun playing this game. Plus it's like any game that's halfway good you end up buying when you own a Wii U.
I adore this game, I've sunk SO much time into it. The gameplay can get repetitive, but it doesn't bother me because it's still consistently FUN AS BALLS.
I've really been enjoying this game and I love all the Zelda-esqe secrets. Like beyond using bombs to beat King Dodongo did you know if you strike a Darknut then dodge behind it, it will immediately reveal it's weak point gauge. It's a reference to how using a back slice in Twilight Princess would work on them and it works wonders. You can also pull down Aerolfos with the hookshot just like in TP and reveal their weak point guage. And a lot of enemy captains like Big Poes have special attacks that if you hit them with a certain item while they're charging it, they'll lose control and do damage to themselves and their allies. Seriously, try hitting a lizalfos with an arrow when it's glowing white and charging the move where it send a fire wall forward. The result is hilarious. Also enemies have elemental weaknesses and resistances... well I guess that's more of a pokemon thing but still. I don't think the game is too simple, it's actually at the perfect level for me. It has its nuances but you can learn how to play well from experience, experimentation and strategy and there's not a huge proficiency wall like many more complex action games have. I guess you could say it has the smash bros. philosophy but applied to an action game.
Just recently got ahold of the Link amiibo which allowed me to unlock the Spinner weapon for Link himself. It was worth both the 3 months of searching and the money I spent on it. Had to go to GameStop for it though.
Nice to see another review. I actually have a few suggestions for possible games to review if you have the time: Star Fox, Tail Concerto and Solatorobo, and a few others. Good luck on Bayonetta 2.
I get a lot of fun from the co-op too in Hyrule Warriors. It's the perfect game to play when me and my brother just chill. We can chat and just go on auto pilot when playing.
My brother used to have Dynasty Warrios for the PS2 and as well as Mystic Heroes from the Gamecube so yeah, I'm familiar to the Dynasty Warriors series.
Hyrule Warriors is the first Dynasy Warriors game I've played, I got HW because Im a massive Zelda fan, so I really enjoyed this game. It maybe repetitive but it is fun and there is ALOT of content, especially if you get the DLC which is very good value imo. However I have found its the kind of game I seem to not pay for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden I will be in the mood and play it for a few days before once again leaving it for another few weeks.
I still love that line. "The Demon King should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!"
KairiHawk I dont think anyone would agree but does anybody think this is like super mario 3d land because I have both and I think their alike
Pierre Sanon What does that have to do with my comment?
KairiHawk just wanted to ask someone
It's hilarious!
I just read this when he said that
"Oh man! I wonder if we will ever find the next green garbed hero! We might have to search for years!"
*Looks outside.*
"Oh, hey Link! "
nah that couldn't be him.. and his name is just a coincidence.
Let's wait till the end of the battle, then finaly find out just in time to be kidnapped :D
They can never keep track of him because he's always going by strange names like Bort and such.
true very ture :)
ReviewsOfTime the demon king should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!
Bort, I Say, Dewd... Only true Dumas's would recognize them as the Hero of Time
i've ded twice today of laughter.
"the demon king of darkness SHOULD NOT BE CONSERED ABOUT RAMPAGING POULTRY!"

Really don't piss off the cuccos. They do a lot of damage. 5 hearts per peck. You have a cucco swarm and the golden cucco after you. You can stop the swarm by killing the golden cucco, but it has insanely high health.
3:53 so, this exists, and nobody told me?
Bonafied classic right there, lol
I cannot watch that with a straight face XD
gags/ lol i get it is a fun
You're getting a new comment every year for this, and I'll say it
Leather what are you doing here?
'The demon king should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!'
Great line there. XDXD
Those chickens are dangerous! How do you think the timeline where Link died started?
If you think that’s a great line go watch skyward sword review
Never fuck with the Cuckoos
I think Nintendo has come a long way for *pleasing* fanservice.
Remember the Great Fairy from the original OOT? How times have changed.
ZING!
flameheadshero
WOO
I'm still surprised of how Nintendo gave this a go with innuendos. Nintendo is usually child friendly. I kinda like it, though. It's a hell of a lot more different than normal.
flameheadshero
Nope she still has a face that will haunt my dreams.
I fucking love these games where you can completely annihilate a huge group of enemies. It just feels so satisfying and of course makes me feel like such a badass. I did finally get a Wii U a few days ago. So I can get Hyrule Warriors, which is very high on my list of Wii U games I need to get.
+DashieSparkle Is it good?
+Player One I put around 200h into the game...does that answer your question?
Dominik Fohl Yes.
+DashieSparkle I hope you've heard of Sengoku Basara either before or since you wrote that comment. :)
Lord Scribe never heard of it
"The Demon King should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!"
That's the best line I've heard all week. :)

Imagine if Nintendo went with this art style for a mainline Zelda game. It would be so beautiful.
I prefer how Twilight Princess looks.
+Robin Shah Twilight Princess doesn't look that much better
kinda looks like twilight princess to me
I don’t know about that. Something about the art style seems...off to me.
7:00
There's something about seeing Ganondorf running away from a horde of cucco that just makes me laugh so hard.
Easy:
The games put in were fan favorites
Well... Majora's Mask is getting its own Dlc pack
there's only so much the devs could put in at one time.
PikaLink91 *cough*mercides dlc mario kart 8 was proof of that*cough*
PikaLink91 Still better DLC then most companies.
Stuff that expands, not completes the game.
The dynasty warriors game on the ds gave me the hardest time with that. I swear it's like the cpu must be cheating or something.
Like for example, if you hit a Darknut once (even if it blocks) and then dash behind it, it will immediately reveal it's weak point gauge. A reference to how Darknut's weaknesses have always been their backs. You can take them out really quickly this way and there's a lot of other enemies with strategies like this.
Of course, you can just button mash your way through but on higher difficulties and especially in Adventure mode, that will make you lose the mission really easily.
flameheadshero
Agreed. Too bad most people just come to the conclusion that this is just a mindless rupee fest that takes no skill whatsoever.
"The demon king should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!"
- Johnny
Anyone else using Johnny as procrastination during finals?
Sunny M Lol finals are tomorrow for me XD
Sunny M Damn how'd you know? xD
I'll definitely be getting it.
and I fully reccomend it!
"The Demon King should NOT be concerned with rampaging poultry!" has GOT to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard of!
PikaLink91
I guess it bored me because of how repetitive it was because, even though it's fun as hell, mangling hordes of idiots can only amuse me for so long.
Mistake! unlocking all the weapons and extra costumes (from the first DLC) is a lot of fun.
PikaLink91 the great fairy isn't a character, she's a weapon... of retribution!
*****
That would've been awesome.
That voice acting was hilarious. It sounded like he wanted to cry saying magic.
I wonder if this warrants a Round 2 considering all the DLC and the Switch version
Nice use of Lu Bu's theme for the Dynasty Warriors description! You perfectly captured the essence of the game series!
Idk why but I Love this game! I can't put it down and I never get bored of going throughout hoards of enemies. I guess that's more power to me then. Great review Johnny
i would get it if it had online multiplayer
i think thats it. you have all the power and can take it out on countless enemies.
iownalx23 yeah? Tell that to the master quest challenges!
Congrats on your first Dynasty Warriors review, Johnny! As a hardcore Koei Tecmo and Omega Force fan, I'm proud of you.
"Redeads and Gibdos."
Shiek + Water Shield. Oh, you tried to freeze me? I didn't notice.
bombs , o you have a short weakness time, i don't think so :D
Sheik's water shield is ridiculous. Then again Redeads and gibdos are ridiculously easy to deal anyway with since they love spamming moves that make them vulnerable.
You can't always play Shiek though. X)
But a majority of thee time, you can.
You should definitely do a Round 2 video with the version on the Switch!
I've clocked in 150+ hours into the game trying to 100% it, and I'm still enjoying it, but I can totally get why some people couldn't do that.
"Feel the power of my magic!"
I'm fucking dying lol.
0:12 Why not both?
I love this game, so much content that i'm still not finished with.
do a month of Kingdom Hearts! please
Imagine the plot lengths
he did firkin metal gear and look at those plots
then don't make it a month
well there is such thing as improvision, besides what would you want, a lack luster month that gets delayed several times with the end result being sloppy, or a really good set of videos that really show he took time and love into making them
just think about it before u comment
So does this game fall under the LoZ Wiki page, or the Dynasty Warriors Wiki (and by that I mean, which series is this game actually in)
Totally agree with you on the voice acting thing.
I wonder what the think after botw
@NintendoSEGAreviewer also make it hard to follow the story cause my are glue to to action not on text boxes plus it doesn't help that text boxes are far to small to read (On Nintendo switch version)
voice acting was considered for this game at one point, but the people making the game didn't really think it would add anything to the game
Can you do a Tales of series marathon?
I've never played Dynasty Warriors, but I started playing Hyrule Warriors and immediately thought, "This is what I've been missing!? This is awesome!" I had a similar reaction when I was introduced to Weird Al through Cheese Sandwich in MLP. (Blasphemy, I know.)
Whos here after age of calamity was announced?
Watching Ganondorf fleeing from a flock of cuccos is the most magical experience I've had all year.
That intro song reminds me of that Gladiformers movie.
Im so hungry I could eat a P-B-G!
lol
zelda_ septicplier123
XD
+Anthony Nguyen I'm more hungry for a G-I-N-T E-G-G XD
I don’t get it
i absolutely love this game, and Agatha is my favorite character to play as along with zant and volga
That dialogue from Dynasty Warriors is hilariously bad XD
please do a round 2 with Hyrule Warriors definitive edition
I'm addicted to this game. It's a drug to me :X
The Dynasty Warriors formula is perfect if you're busy person. Have alot to do at Uni nowadays, popping in this game and then go on a rampage for 30 minutes - 1 hour to relieve stress and relax is what it's best used for.
Masturba-
I mean video games.
0:11 - 0:15 You read my mind. LOL! God, I love this channel. :D
Please make a review of super smash bros 3ds
I gave you a sticker at Sonic Boom in NYC back in 2014! I hope you liked it! Keep up the great work!
who else thinks a dragon ball z dynasty warriors game would be amazing
Main character shall be Trunks and or Tapion.
SSDARKPIT
seriously i would play the hell out of that game if they made one
Matthew Phillips the one piece pirate warriors 3 was a co-op game
cool*
Dynasty Warriors marathon! Dynasty Warriors Marathon!!! Which will only take one video to sum the whole franchise
Under 300 club how tough are ya
How tough am I?
I saw this first.
Without saying first...
How tough am I? I got a game over in Eggmanland at the very end, and I only cried for half an hour.
How tough am I?
I got so close to beating Ganon on hero mode and I only cried for 20 minutes.
How tough am I? I didn't rage quit on the chicken temple from tak.
How tough am I? I beat 75 enemies on Cruel Brawl in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS! ...WITHOUT ANY PICKUPS.
Awesome review as always Johnny! I was pleasantly surprised by this! :)
As far as the whole voice-acting scenario around the Zelda series goes.
I will admit, that I am curious and would like to see Nintendo give it shot, just once, to see how it goes, and if it's good, then awesome. But if it's something that the Zelda series never tries out and just sticks with text-bubbles and dialogue, then I'm fine with that too.
As long as the game itself is good, or lives up to expectations, and it has all of the things that I play a Zelda game for (Great Dungeon Design, Beautiful Overworld with things to do, see, or unlock, Fun Sidequests, Good Narrative Plot, and Great Combat) in it, then voice-acting (good or shitty), or no voice-acting, I'll be satisfied customer.
i wish twilight princess looked like this game
Funny you should mention that. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess just got an HD re-release on the Wii U.
+Soren Daein yeah i know but this games graphics are so much better. i know its because it has its own style, but imagine TP HD looking like hyrule warriors
*****
I've actually got a hard copy of said game complete with the Wolf Link amiibo.
*****
Glad you agree. By the way, did you ever check out the Cave of Shadows? It's a dungeon that can be accessed by the Wolf Link amiibo.
*****
There's a new item in that dungeon that can be gotten but it takes 3 trips to reach the true final room. It's quite the gauntlet, but it's worth the prize.
Good and refreshingly fair review that won't just give it top score automatically because it's a 'Zelda' game. Then again, it's how I'd expect things from you Johnny. Keep up the good work.
Ganondorf is fun to play in Dynasty Warriors, but still sucks in Smash Bros
Fuck my life
The only thing I don't like about Ganondorf is how slow his attacks are. Especially since he has zero invulnerability during them. You can take so much damage without realizing because of his tendency not to flinch. Still, doing his 5 weak, 1 strong combo is so fun to use in huge crowds.
***** you do realize there is no tier list and if you find one its a terrible list that puts brawl list and randomly put the new characters in them tier lists take years to make
***** In Melee Dr. Mario is 9 and Ganondorf is 12. SSBB didn't have the Dr., and SSB4 doesn't have one yet. What list are you referencing?
Jumpayh Bi-Ohmes no items. fox only. final destination.
TurtleGalaxies no final. items only.fox destination.
I'd suggest beginning with a much earlier installment in the series. Dynasty Warriors 3 - 5 might be better recieved.
Always found funny how before release just about everyone is like "DW so repetitive why is going to mix with my original and unique legend of zelda game" as if the Zelda games themselves aren't as repetitive as DW
LMMMAAAOOOO come on kid
chknrsandTBBTROX73 what you're a green kid who is somehow connected to the gods, something happens and you must collect 3 plot macguffins, you collect them then something happens then you collect about 7 more macguffins, then run towards the final battle all while getting items in a temple that you will never use outside of the temples
KelvinBelmont
You just took the story and simplified it to prove a point...too bad you failed.
Mine is sweet sweet callie and marie rule 34 ;)
... No words...
I just got cancer from that cringe
indeed

SplatCast my G
Have you played the game? It seems simple on a surface level but there are a lot of nuances that you're overlooking to say it has no substance.
flameheadshero
Compared to the better hack N slash games, it's practically brainless.
Tee KH I have the game myself and the only thing I hate is how they do the ability limitations, the prime series gave a better reason, but I still enjoyed the gameplay and the story, and with the ridley thing, its logical that after all the times she has defeated him, and he just keeps coming back, after a while it would start getting to her and she may start realizing her own mortality, she defeated him in the first game, then someone revived him as a cyborg in the prime series, and she defeated him in prime 3, and then in super metroid he came back again, maybe she is starting to think he is indestructible, and finally the memories of her parents dieing against him is starting to sink in
+Ssj Ichigo
Never thought of it that way. Still doesn't stop Metroid fans for disliking Other M.
I mean, Super Mario Sunshine had laughable VA and people like that game. It would've been nice or experimental to add voice acting into HW. It bugged me, but not enough to lose sleep over.
Well they chanced it with kid Icarus and fire emblem awakening and no one bad an eye about. So, what's the excuse now?
Tee KH if you can call super mario sunshine voice acting, there was more voice acting from the peanuts teachers "wah wah wah wah"
I'm a massive Zelda fan, but I'll never bring myself to pay money for this game. It's simply TOO repetitive and simple.
Also wanted to say that this was a very disappointing choice for the first proper Zelda spin-off. If it was at least something like a DMC or Bayonetta spin-off, then it would've been much more interesting.
You haven't even PLAYED it yet.
Game looks really boring to me.
The Enemies are literally just standing there waiting to be hit.
It's not.
When I play a game I want to feel underpowered, weak, and useless... until the end because I win the game. THEN I feel op.
Try playing on Hero mode. The weakest enemy takes away half your health and I swear I cannot finish one combo without an enemy interupting me
Mosou games in a nut shell. But really, play them on Hard/Chaos/Very Hard etc and you will get a good challenge.
I see what you did there ;)
I lost my shit at; "feel the power of my MAAAAAAAAGIIIIIIICCCC!"
7:02 The Demon King should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!
XD
THAT made my day! Anyways, glad that you're back from your break! :)
My favorite genre of game would be action rpg with hack and slashes like this coming second. I love these types of games mainly because of the satisfaction. It's so much fun to watch your enemies' entire army fall beneath your feet as you literally run through all of their forces. I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
I already have the game yet I stuck around anyway :P
2:38 "You have a few a few options available as soon as you start the game up"
Actually everything is locked except Legend Mode until you beat the first Legend mode mission.
The gameplay can get repetitive, but it doesn't bother me because it's still consistently FUN AS BALLS.
well I got the 3ds version because of you, now I need to find people to play with. THANKS JOHNNY.
3ds version of hyrule warriors? The games bot even out yet
oops I commented on the wrong video lol I meant to comment on the triforce heroes one
didn't even realise till now. GG me
YES! Johnny is finally reviewing brand-new games again! Keep it up, man!
Actually, I think the Demon King SHOULD be concerned with rampaging poultry. I mean, he was concerned with a fishing pole in Twilight Princess.
I just saw this on my front page...holy crap Hyrule Warriors is 3 years old...I feel so aged...
Nice to see another review. I actually have a few suggestions for possible games to review if you have the time: Star Fox, Tail Concerto and Solatorobo, and a few others. Good luck on Bayonetta 2.
"The Demon King should not be concerned with rampaging poultry!"
Favourite line of the review
I get a lot of fun from the co-op too in Hyrule Warriors. It's the perfect game to play when me and my brother just chill. We can chat and just go on auto pilot when playing.
Played the game at my buddy's house & I fell in love with it (not literally) so I went out & got a copy of it for my Wii U
My brother used to have Dynasty Warrios for the PS2 and as well as Mystic Heroes from the Gamecube so yeah, I'm familiar to the Dynasty Warriors series.
Now it's on the Switch, with everything from both the Wii U and 3DS versions. I think it's a really solid deal.
Dynasty Warriors voice work has improved greatly. Check out 7 and 8. Practically unrecognizable from the PS2 games, and very well-done.
I own this game. Sure it can get repetitive but the best part is having to enjoy everything with all the different characters. Even the villains.
