I knew by the thumbnail this was the exact video I was searching for 😂 in all honesty it’s a brilliant stage presence and performance! In my heart mind and soul it’s legendary.
We used to play this song in our little garage band trio back in the 90s when it came out. I remember the day our bass player came to practice and said "watch this" and could actually pull off the line, which I thought was pretty impressive. And a week or so later our drummer had a keyboard set up next to his kit, and did the piano outro. Fun times. We played this song three or four times every Wednesday lol.
well for him it would pretty much be a matter of muscle memory and playing and singing something that you just have done is easy, not the same as trying to learn it and do it lol.
I don’t mind admitting hearing this song and watching this performance brought tears to my eyes. I was 14 years old, life was simple, fun and full of energy and this song, TFI Friday, indie and Brit pop music was all I cared about. Watching Royston, high as a kite and full of energy reminded me how great those times were; when drugs, booze, music and the pursuit of laughter with mates was all that mattered.
One of my favorite songs from the 90s and STILL a favorite! Love all his facial expressions, especially when his eyes roll to the back of his head at 0:46.
As a musician, I can tell you that there is nothing stankier or more full of bacteria than the screen on a microphone. I mean, they literally stink. That aside, what a great performance by a seriously David Bowie disciple.
I know! The mics always always always stink of other people's saliva and sewer-like breath! Enough to make one vomit all over the stage (which was a great excuse if one had had a soupçon or two of smack in one's system)
I've always loved this band, iam a painter and when I have a certain job to do this is my climbing a 40ft ladder all day long go to!for some reason it relaxes me
Haha yep, I have a similar memory. Home from school, bowel of cereal for dinner, down to mates to watch TFI, catch the bus into town and get paralysed at some random indie club. I miss the 90’s.
I don’t get how these guys weren’t absolutely enormous, the bass/vox is a natural born star, he had it all in spades. If they’d have come along a few years earlier they’d have been so much bigger, there was so much mediocre rubbish around that got lauded as legendary after Oasis came along.
they had at least 2 hits and most of their music was awesome like this song. they had their own style and were original. the singer reminds me of Axl and Steven Tyler. A maniac. so liv was a nice fit for this mega weirdo.
I watched this when I was 17 when indie ruled, people taped the evening session and tfi was the most important show on tfi. I was absolutely mesmerised !

The late 90’s and early 2000’s were such a great time. No smart phones, very limited internet, better parties, better bar times, better music, better music, less hate and vitriol, less politics drumming us over the head every day. Was just a way better time.

I'm sorry but I just don't think he's close enough to the mic
Underrated comment 💀
LMAO. hahahahahahahaha

he fuckin looks like beavis
One of the greatest basslines ever.
Props to Langdon for singing and playing that bassline.
I actually looked up them playing this song live just to see if he could actually do it, haha.
@@cjchristopher5857 That's the funniest thing I've read in a while. You win the internet for whatever day this was last year that you posted it.

Straight cocaine 🤣
Drugs in the 90s were better than now

Everything was better in the 90s lol
The last of the good lsd was gone in the early 2000s

Agreed
He seems like he was feeling REALLY good during this performance.
Hahaha xD

Such wholesome nostalgia, drugs and booz as a 14 year old. WTF?

What kind of drug did they have in the 90s that made everyone look like they had a neurological disorder?
"How high are you tryin' ta' get, man?"
"Yes."
Hmmmm
That's a pretty high band objective indeed
"No more drugs for THAT man!"
🤣🤣🤣
Lol 😂

I remember this and immediately brought the album, which was amazing

Saw this on its transmission, Royston “eating” the mic n’all… bought “Resident Alien” the next day… happy times!
Great song. Brings me back to high school. Definitely inspired by Bowie and Mott The Hoople. Almost like a 90s version of All The Young Dudes.
SuperStrik9 Love that comparison, I’d never thought about it like that
I hate that comparison ! ....oh wait...I love that comparison!
100%
That bass line, though! Totally makes the song.
Royston was Sketched Out on some serious "stimulant" for this performance.
You misspelled "cocaine"
drugs where a lot stronger back in the 90s..my man is fuckin nuts up there lol
freakin hilarious

Pretty sure any bacteria in his system would be too busy peeking out the window.
No bacteria is getting through the river of drugs flowing through that man's body.

Sublime, spacey, freaky and f##king gorgeous. So under rated. Love me some Spacehog.
Was expecting the mic to pop a load in his face...
Love the timing on this song...it changes just before the chorus. Love the band, one of my all time favorite songs from the 90's..end of!
Rick James says cocaine is a hell of a drug!
lol what a freak XD Its like Hunter S Thompson picked up a bass one day...

With tears of holy joy
For all the days, you've still to come

So tru

I fucking loved that song!!!!!
Did they goof the intro and recover super fast?
The song is clearly performed live, but the Ooh-ooh-ooohs at the start are identity to the recorded track. Was this part dubbed in?
I don’t think so, which is what makes this even more impressive. Those falsetto notes are incredible
Homage to the mic eating motherland, I come for you again
Looootta David Bowie influence. Wonderfully arranged song
Note to self. Do not use mic after space hog preforms (check).
They mess up the intro really bad but the band still runs with it. So cool.
sounds like they deliberately shortened it
They cut it short for TV. The last chorus and outro are cut short as well..
I hope he didn't eat the mic :)
The Leno appearance was the best live performance, but was taken down a few years ago.
