Thank you !!! Sitting in a parking lot stranded found your video did what you said and it worked!!! I owe you a beer!
What truck you got ?
2011 5500 cab and chassis
My 2014 Ram2500 doing same thing. I just did what you did and so far so good! I bought the truck used. It was a construction truck and was very dusty. I saw a bunch of dust fly out when I blew it with air. Great video, thanks for the help. Much appreciated, Pedro.
It's 2021 and this just helped me out with my truck. Some break cleaner and a can of compressed air (I don't have an air compressor on hand), about half an hour of cleaning and drying later. Truck runs almost like new. She's still a little finicky, but nowhere NEAR as bad as she was. Thanks man!
My man!!!!! You just saved us a tow bill. Been having this issue for the last few weeks and was about to send to dealer. Found your video and haven't have an issue for a week now. Thank you
Perfect. Used electrical contact cleaner spray from Autozone and then compressed air. Started right up. Jiggled the heck out of the key and it never cut out. Time will tell. Thanks, man.
This video is a life saver! You saved me $700+ that I couldn't afford in the 1st place so thank you very much for the info!!!
Thank You !! This worked for me on my 2017 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman. My first attempt I tried a can of Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner, didn't have the little straw so it was just misting the board. 2nd attempt I used a can of Non-Flammable Electrical Contact Cleaner with the little straw on the nozzle so I could direct the fluid directly onto the little black sensors that you can see standing up from the circuit board. I think mine is a newer version board. Blew it out with a can of compressed air let dry for 15mins. Plugged the module back in, inserted the key turned to ACC position The info center screen lit right up, door chime and radio came on, and it started right up.
I didn’t use brake clean. BUT i did take about 2 hours and cleaned my Key “ Fob” took it apart carefully and cleaned that like new and the same with the switch on the dash like you did . Cleaned it like brand new using magnifying glass and combo of Dawn Dish Soap. Mr Clean Magic eraser just squeezed the soapy stuff out of it a tooth brush. Micro Fiber towel and some vent cleaning brushes for my truck. Replaced the battery in the fob and made sure that was making good connections etc. Bam. Fixed! I think the everyday dust, dirt, grime gets into them both actually and makes for bad connections somewhere on them. So safe yourselves some money and clean clean clean like the man says in the video. Mopar aint getting my money nor was I willing to wait
4 months since on backorder . Thanks Joe 😉
2012 4x4 Ram I opened the black box used a quitip polled the cotton off rubbed the flat part carefully now it works perfectly thank you.
Awesome brother!! Been fighting this issue for a good 6 months!! You saved the day!! Huge Thank You!!!!
Thank you Gerardo! 2010 1500 worked like a charm with contact cleaner and compressed air. Guy's don't desolder your curcuit board until you try this. Thank you again Gerardo!
Hell yea bro. Helped me fix mine. These lease roads in west Texas got mine acting up too Cleans it just like you said and it’s working perfect
Thanks for posting this! After years of minor, sporadic starting issues, the truck shut off while highway driving today. Knew it must be switch related. Will try this out.
I just want to say THANK YOU BRO! Your method worked like a charm on my 2012 RAM 1500. Your video was a real blessing...and for that, I hope you are blessed. Thanks again.
Gerardo - 2012 Dodge Ram here - 124,000 miles. Thank you brother! Your great video and instructions worked like a charm. Although I found your use of brake-cleaner quite bold, I found electronic cleaner at Auto Zone. Part came out in less than five minutes - got the electronic board out of the black box - sprayed vigorously, blew out with an air compressor - reinstalled (about 3 minutes) - started like a champ! Thanks for saving me a shitload of money buying the whole damn part outright. Works like new. Thanks my friend - Jim
nombre del limpiador estoy con el mismo problema
@@apodacaheracleo easy fix.
@@stevelukasiewski3433 thanks
I’m having this problem now. Did your truck ever shut off while driving ?
@@DanielHill-ry3ce Mine does and that's why i'm here. did it fix yours?
Dude! These never work for me! EXCEPT, this time, took 5 minutes and worked perfectly. Thank you man!!!!
Just stumbled upon your video hoping I fix the same issue with my truck. All I can say is thank you sir! You are a legend!
Great video!! Thank you for the help
I believe you helped me fix mine as well. Took it apart last night and blew out all the dust with my compressor, then shot it with CRC Electronic Cleaner instead of brake cleaner (I have both on hand). After that I blew it out again and threw it back in. First off I noticed the key turns smoother and the trucks starts faster. Hopefully this is all I needed to do.
Thanks again for the info
thank you for the video i was having the same problem and did the same thing that you did and it worked thank you again for saving me a single mom of 2 alot of money to get my truck back up and running for a cheaper price
Did it this morning! Worked great.
I'd been having to mess with my key for months.
Washed it out with electrical contact cleaner and it's working great.
Thanks buddy! Saved me some $$$
thank goodness I came across this and thank you for posting this. my 2012 SLT is doing the same thing. Now the win module is sitting next to me on at the kitchen table to take care of this.
Thanks for making this video. My 2012 2500 ram turned off several times while driving. I saw your video and it is working great now. Saving that $600 plus tax was very helpful during this Wuhan virus. Thanks again.
Did it feel like it was choking up, or no gas
My 2012 just started this with 274,000 miles definitely doing this over the weekend. Thanks!
Thank you for your honesty. I have not tried it but the whole process is very true ... thank you and God bless you
bro just wanted to say thank you 🙏🏼 god bless you and protect you and your family really appreciate it 🙌🏻
Gerardo, thanks bud. Cleaned the contacts with Hoppes #9 with a Qtip. Works like new!
Thank you so much, went out pricing the WIN module and its replacement at the Dealer. Way too expensive. I took the module out, was hesitant to use anything more than compressed air. Replaced unit and my truck has been starting fine
ever since. *Cleaning the WIN unit really works!
I was going to purchase a whole new part when I saw your video. One $12 can of electronic cleaner saved me $600. Works every time now. Thank you!!!!
Did you spary the whole thing, did you have to take the circuit board off
@@jimmywarden6320 I didnit the easy way; just hosed the thing. To be honest, I didn't have a lot of hope, so I just took the part out (easy) and blasted the whole can into it. Still working great 5 months later!!
@@rollingrbisonranch mine is acting up as soon as 8 get some time im.spraying it down, thank you for the video and the information you have shared about it hope you have a blessed day
Excellent!! Took apart, sprayed some electrical cleaner in there, turned key back and forth a few times, put back together and problem fixed. Thank you for this fix.
did your key ever get stuck? mine won't come out after cleaning it
@@hollande66 did you figure out how to get it out? I'm having same issue.
Brooo I appreciate you alot have been suffering with this problem for about 2months did exactly what u did and boom like new again appreciate it bro!
You just saved me $600 bro. Can't thank you enough
Nice video man, thanks for taking the time making it. I have the same issue and read about this process in the forums, gonna try it today
Hey man! Your video saved my buddy $1800 CAD. Your a life saver !!
Thanks Bro! I did this in my 2012 dodge 1500,, now stars in a half second & won't turn off in the middle of the freeway anymore.
I'm going to try this tomorrow as well. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the video my dude!! Not only was it annoying having my truck stall immediately after starting sometimes ten times in row it was dangerous when it would just shut off driving down the highway. Easy fix that any shop would have replaced instead of simply cleaning it
mine (2012) just did that on the highway today for the first time.....doing 125 km/h. Not a good feeling.
Just happened to me when I was with my gf today in my 2011
I wonder what’s up with dodge rams with this issue, this been happening to me all year it stopped for like 2 weeks and it started again, I’m about to try the electric cleaner , thanks for the tips doing this tomorrow!!
@@herbertdavis82did it work for you bro ? I’m having the same problem currently
Nahh dude it didn’t help , I went to OReillys my buddy had a discount card and I got it for 270, originally it’s 530$, pain in my ass,now I have to pay a extra 150$ to program the new keys I had to buy from Amazon
Thank you Geraldo, I did it the same way you explained and it work on my 2012 Ram 1500.
Exactly what I was thinking of doing but I’ll go with the electrical contact cleaner. My 2012 started giving me the most grief last week and shut off 3 times during a long winter drive thru the mountains at night. Nothing like loosing lights, power steering and brakes in a hair pin corner!! LOL TIA and checking your other content!! 🙏
Thanks! Worked perfect and only took about ten minutes!
I was going to buy one at a dealer today and was only looking for a video on how to change it so I could save some labor I thank you for the video I saved $500
I used electronic cleaner but really soaked it down and turned the key repeatedly starts like new
Awsome! I've got 3 trucks with same issues...That's gonna make me look like I know what I'm doing
Bro this video saved me twice already last time about a year ago all I had was an air compressor so I just stuck the air in the ignition and it worked until this morning it started doing it again so I took it out and sprayed contact cleaner and it’s back on the road, I use this truck for the oilfield so there is dirty all over too
Worked for me bro. Thanks. I used some MAF cleaner to clean mine.
Thanks for this video, it really works, I was having the same problem and I was going to change the part but I was looking for how tho change the part but the saw your video and booom!! 😁👍🏼🤟
Great video. I did the same just clean clean clean the key fob inside and out as well. Replace battery too
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I’m gonna do that tomorrow to my ram
thanks, it's awesome, I knew if there was a fix ,I would find it here, or come up with it, thanks again
Brother thank u so much 4 making this video it was a HUUUUUUGE help thank u again
Thank you for taking the time to post this video man!!!
Mines just broke. I was trying to figure out what he meant by taking the clips out so i can separate the inside, My key is all lose when i stick it in looks like i have to go to the dealer and buy a new one come back install it then either get it towed to the dealership or call a locksmith to fab the new keys so it will start.
I have similar issues. This video is valuable for us. Thank you.
Thanks for the video! You just saved me a good amount money.
I just did this quick hack on my 2011 and it straightened right up. Thanks for the valuable info 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent video. Fixed the problem. Thanks.
It works!!! I saved about $800
Thanks!!
My 2012 ram 3500;is doing the same thing too! Went and bought contact cleaner and can of air to blow it out . It’s been losing power when I drive and hit bumps . Going to take it apart tomorrow. I’m excited I’ll let you know when mines fixed too!
Thanks for posting brother! Saved some $$$’s
Worked for me! Thank you for posting!
Fixed my issue! I wouldn’t recommend brake cleaner necessarily though, I used a ultra soft car detailing brush and some air
Thank you Gerardo! Saved me time & money!
Same problem here, fixed my 12 3500 Cummins, awesome video
What did it do when it broke down?
Ima give it. Try got the same truck
No homo i love you for this. I desoldered it and very lightly sanded the copper traces and sprayed it down with brake cleaner. Starts every time
Awesome video my brother thanks so much Garcia!
Dude. Thanks for this video! This really works and saved me alot of cash and headache.
What issues were you having?
@@dustinjansen7283 whenever the key in the ignition would hit a hard bump or my knee hit the key a certain way the truck would just turn off even while driving
Well I’m about to try this thanks for all your help great video also thanks again ehhhh
Trying this later today. Was Intermittent to where I couldn't Determine Switch or Starter, I have Electronic Cleaner to try with.
Thanks, hope it works🤞
Great fix. I used CRC electronic cleaner. Works like new
Worked perfect. Thanks for the information!!!!!
This is awesome I'm having same issue I was getting pissed but it is really easy once you do it 😅
My boyfriend is working on this right now!!!! Thanks
It worked! Easy fix. Me wuv you long time. (I bought electronics cleaner, vs using brake cleaner, but hey...)
LONG TERM FIX .. The method of spraying ( preferably electronic contact cleaner) will temporary clean the oxidation from the friction contact board pins. Over time they will get oxidized again. I carefully soldered all (about 6) friction contact / push in hole , board pins. Using electronic solder flux helps prevent bridging (connecting solder points that were not meant to be connected with solder). As there are various model of this start module , only do this to the (push pin in hole) friction contacts , NOT the wiper contacts if so equipped. IMHO this should have been done at the factory , would have prevented all of this, but also prevented what is undoubtedly a huge revenue stream. Sharing is caring , be kind to one another.
Thankyou for making this video legend
my dad's truck is doing the same thing. 2010 3500 dually 370k miles. He wanted to replace the the whole assembly but its definitely pricey. Im going to try this out
Been having the same problem. Thanks for the info
THANK YOU SIR! ELECTRONIC CLEANER !
Great post brother!
Good shit brother! Thanks for the post
Thanks, this fix worked for me.
I'm doing this thank you for posting this video
Good video homie. I’m going to Ty it out as well
Fire video. Thanks man.
Thank you worked for my 3500 with 135k
I have a Dodge Grand Caravan. Same problem. I am going to try this before replacing the switch.
Did it ever work?
Thanks brother im going to try this
Dude! Worked for me too. You fking rock!
My 2011 ram just lost its warranty by 300 miles and you saved me from a $700 bill at the dealer
We need more people like you💋💋
damn if I just saw this video before I ordered win modular for my dodge..
any way grate video and tip..
Thank you brother.
Biggggg help 🙏🏽🤝🏽
Think I found my issue ty brother man
Spray cleaned with od cleaner. Went to start no difference still delayed start . guess I will need new win module replaced cr2032 in key fob.........
I would recommend using electrical contact cleaner instead of brakekleen. Certain types of brakekleen can eat the Varnish off of electrical coils and stuff. If that happens it will be junk. Just a heads up.
Works great thanks a lot
Yep....we all owe you $$. Just worked for me too!
Dope. Ima try this. 🤙🏻
Thanks for the video……… did you have problems with the truck shutting off when you hit a big bump as well?
Thank you so much. God bless you
Many thanks!
Awesome bro!!!
Good job, thanks.
