Lol my son wanted to do a drag with no steering, I tried to tell him it's not practical m, but I'll hope he see this so he can understand m, great job by the way ur awesome
Awesome Video right here Earl as you know its cause i watched your videos that i now have a Drag Slash(red) and Losi 22s 68' ford (Black) and want to know as much information as possible before i run either as well as the sky-rc gps Meter that connects to the phone via app and BT but these little hints and tips are going to be so so useful when comes time to run these rc's for the maximum enjoyment , man these tutorials are beyond handy especially for a new comer like myself in this no prep drag scene so massive thanks to you and will be getting a disposable master card to purchase from your merch store as a form of gratitude to you for these efforts you go to for fellow rc enthusiasts , cheers Earl and ill be watching many more of your videos as i traverse into this Learning stage of RC so again to get the enjoyment that they can give once hick-ups and hurdles are sorted from someone taking the time to show and explain USEFUL information that otherwise could be a deal breaker for so many if there wasn't this available , Cheers Earl and Keep On RC'ing Man 🙂
Great video Earl... First time seeing the front suspension... I'm really shocked they didn't go with a zero degree front bulkhead... That's the best for drag racing.. 🤔🤔🏁
Damn ! I buying a Slash period ! I been have a lot of problems with spektrum electronics lately ! Motors hold up but I have 3 ESC's that the HH tech said they were stuck between modes mean while and I been have trouble with my Radiolink RC6GS V2 and I have 2 high speed cars, I ran 5 cars with that transmitter !
With the Traxxas wheelie bar wheels definitely need to be glued.. I also sanded mine square and took the lettering off.. you see stock there's ridges on the outside.. 😎
Those Traxxas turnbuckles tho 🥺 I got some to retrofit, because I couldn’t get the Losi ones in the lengths I needed, and I’m disappointed. On one end they use a full ball joint rod end, allowing movement in all directions. The other end is different, using a ball that’s so shallow, it really only allows rotation around the bolt, with a very small amount of off-axis movement.
You should always redo your shocks whenever you get something new you can't trust the work of the people who are throwing them things together as fast as they can. You'll get it figured out you're being very thorough and looking at everything that's great.
Really enjoy the videos you did on the drag slash! Did you end up staying with the stock wheelie bar? I’m watching your videos and putting together a list of mods. Much respect!
Have you tried longer travel front shocks. I don't know if they make them I race real cars but thinking if getting into the rc drag racing since my eyes are getting worse and hard to drive at night. Love your videos brother
Only reason to get longer front shock would to extend the front up on a launch to get weight over rear tire and that not an issue as it wheelie way easy if you watch my Losi drag build shorter locked out front shock will make it easier to control the wheelies and you’ll go faster 👍and if that still won’t keep it down adding aluminum front wheels help a great deal 🔥🔥
I haven't run my new Drag Slash yet because I don't want to damage the stock body. Question: Can I put the aftermarket Proline Octane body on it? If yes, do I need to get body mount kit TRA1914R or PRO6070-00 or something else? Not sure what to do, hoping you can advise. Thanks Earl :)
@@earlmoorhead5555 when I can get one if these I am getting a Purple version (my favorite color) I will definatley be triming the line lock button so I can reach it, and after seeing the play in the wheelie bar I am going to add an aluminum one. Until I burn up the tires I will run the stocks, and add some lead to the front to keep the tires on the ground. Thanks for all the tuning tips
Hey Earl love the videos! I just got my Drag Slash! What you recommend to get mine close to 2.65 like yours? Pinion size? Battery? ect. Thank you in advance!
I used the upgrade pinion supplied and get it going straight and keep the front wheels on the ground I show the shock change I did and completely what I did step by step to run these times in small changes and every road will need adjustment for that road 🤛🤛🤛
You know, an easier way to set that ride height, try assembling both front shocks without oil, and springs on the car, and on a completely flat surface stack something under the car to 'til you have the height you want. Then, with a sharpie mark on the the shock rod as close as you can to the barrel, so that when the shock is at full droop, from the base of your barrel to the mark you made, will give you the measurement of how much tubing to use, then cut 2 equal pieces (no guessing).
@@earlmoorhead5555 I was thinking of making my own eventually-- is there a formula to figure out what size capacitors are needed? Before I tear a pack apart(lol)
The least rear toe in the more speed can be achieved but makes it less controllable this is probably why LOSI gave the 22 that much toe in, so yep the TRAXXAS will not be as good in a straight line. My thoughts on the best compromise is to lower the wheelie bar so only a small gap needed and let the back lift on take off to push the front wheels on the ground so a lighter rear spring or and fluid to allow upwards movement so the front stays down and the rear tyres grow to keep contact as the tyres grow. I use Associated green slime shock 'O' ring grease so as not to damage the lower seals. You can run your shocks from side to side to negate any torque steer turns right adjust left shock to stop the twist. same for front getting chassis twist turns left more adjustment on left shock. This is the way the full size guys get round any chassis or suspension anomalies.
Losi is built better but needs shocks replaced traxxas wide rear tire and build is faster and more controllable out the box as the Losi has a bad stopping problem that needs to be addressed before racing it

Thanks but I don’t have a merch store I do it for the love of this hobby 💯👌
Good eye catching that shock issue. Also nice way to solve it.
Thanks for the trick
thanks for the tip - my drag slash is due in today and will give it a closer look thanks to you😎

I agree 💯👍
Very cool the Chevy didn’t get destroyed! Awesome video!!
Awesome info as always Earl. I put more notes in my notebook on what to check. Ty for your videos🏁👊🏁
Thanks 🙏
The left front on mine was sitting low. I noticed the cap wasn't on very tight. I drained and replaced the fluid in both and now it sits level.

Was thinking you can switch the wheels around because their not glue. You can have the lettering facing out.
Great video it definitely helped me out to thanks 🙏🏽 earl.

It just shows me a comment but not what video your looking at I have a playlist of all the drag build showing from start to finish 👍
Good Video And I Know This Video Is Older. I am Running 58s and 59s I 132 Feet.
Great video Earl thanks for all the information I really am learning a lot from you 👍🔥👊💯
Thanks 🙏
What up Earl👊 What is the best way to glue the rubber on those Traxxas wheelie bar wheels? Just on the face on both sides? Thx Brother👊

@@earlmoorhead5555 thanks for the info man. I'm thinking about getting a slash this will be fun, so many great vloggers with amazing knowledge
Another thing you should invest in is a 4 corner scale... That's a great way to know where to add weight.. 🤘😎🏁💪
Yes I have the scale coming I got the same one Rc guy garage used in his video 👍👍
Good stuff.. very helpful tool and not crazy expensive.. 🤘
Or 4 small mail scales work
Cool Video. Thanks Earl! Have you tried the Proline Reaction+ wide Slicks on the Drag Slash? They are belted.👍🏻
I have not but have a few sets 👍👍
Great vid Earl! witch of the tree platforms ( Losi,dr10 & slash ) do you like the most? and why?
Losi or traxxas as a rtr Dr10 needs alit out the box if you don’t touch the rc car for no prep the Losi if at home racing friends traxxas
shock length is a tuning option for this car longer shocks would add droop. Just noticed the year you more than likely know this now
👍🙏
I see you found the alloy wheels with rubber tyres what model were they on or for originally they are the ones I was on about.

Not the octane as there to wide
Isnt there a droop screw adjustment on the Slash? Does amyone make an aluminum Slash Drag wheelie bar?
No and yes there a few metal wheelie bars out there and no group screws on a slash 👍

👍👍🤛🤛
You can just swap the rubber between those wheelie bar wheels, and then you'd still have the lettering out (if you want).
Good to know 👍👍💯💯
I’ve never built my own cap pack I’ve either used castle caps or hobbywing caps or ripple killer caps

Do you know where I can pick up a Traxxas drag slash drag body with accessories
Did you try your local shop ?
Make sure to change the wheelie bar back lower since your limiting droop, right?
Hope with the weight it won’t come up at all
Good info 👍... Good vid.
What are your opinions on running cap packs? I just picked one up because my voltage drops to 6.8 on a run before I hit the 132' mark
I run ripple killer caps anything over geared 👍👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 I was thinking of making my own eventually-- is there a formula to figure out what size capacitors are needed? Before I tear a pack apart(lol)
Front tire diameter?? You could have swapped front tires first??
I swapped many different tires and wheels did a whole series on it

If you look at the beginning of your own video you can see that left tire is not all the way down make sure that left shock has full travel.
When you're racing turn your dual rate on your steering down
🤔I do 🤷🏻♂️
Which one is better the traxxas or Losi?
Losi is built better but needs shocks replaced traxxas wide rear tire and build is faster and more controllable out the box as the Losi has a bad stopping problem that needs to be addressed before racing it

Put the tubing on the inside of the shock
Yes I do
Is your work bench level???
Little lower old dinning table
If you notice all traxxas cars do that my stampede my rustler my bandit all do that
That curb bump looked way worse than it was.
Right 😲🤣🤣
Surface of that work bench is not flat.
Get a metal wheelie bar
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Pre load will fix your problem
There really isn't a reason to have ANY droop whatsoever.
For no prep and steering 🤔
