Now we're even more excited. Love how Harley explains things properly and is never negative. My 3 boys and I are not a aspahlt family. We have have a dirt oval track, we bomb, and we crawl. Between our SC Losi and Traxxas rigs we've always have better luck with the slash. Quick to fix and parts everywhere. We love the slash and hate all the negative talk of this truck. I think 500 is fair. That's probably a 150 dollar body which is fair if you add up your time and money to paint and make one that nice. Add in all the other parts and we're in. We ordered a black one and a red one. Shoot i might even have to throw down a couple hundred feet of asphalt just for drag slash. Thanks for the great vid.
I'm glad that Traxxas and other companies are doing stuff for the drag scene. I started Slash Drag racing on FB about 5 yrs ago and there was nothing to make the Slash into a drag truck.
I have a drag converted slash, a drag converted losi tlr 22, and a dr10. The slash has the beefier components, like 2.5mm hardware vs 2mm. plus the parts are way more available, and around half the cost! They have an aluminum kit for control arms, shock towers, c hubs and knuckles and a couple other items, for $60. The same kit for the associated is $144. Slash has it's advantages for sure!
I’m just now finishing up my Felony 6S as far as my specific tuning ….. getting comfortable with the rig …..driving etc…. And of late I’ve been researching the new Traxxas Drag Slash and I just wanted to thank you for this video….. because of the way you produced and recorded
This video I was able to learn about this RC from stem to stern……all and all I just bought my new Drag Slash and because of Tubers like yourself…I learned before I bought it and this helped me a lot …. Again…. Thank You for what you bring to our hobby ☮️>>>>Out!……👍🏻😎
Definitely a solid review on the truck. But that is a lot of money for essentially a parts bin build with a metal motor plate upgrade and some electronic programing. Though I do give props for going with a truck body instead of another muscle car.
I have a slash that I built up and upgraded to be a badass in the dirt like a baja truck. But I run it on street a lot too. So I need this thing. Was going to get rid of my current slash to get this. But I think I’ll just get this for street and keep my other for off road
So it's an LCG Slash with a slightly beefed up transmission, a body you'll probably not use, electronics changes you aren't allowed to use, a motor and ESC you probably won't use, and a wheelie bar for $170 more than a standard Slash VXL. Might just be me but I'm not really seeing the value.
Not just you. This is around the price of two rtr 10th scale kits, a complete vxl Slash and a complete regular Bandit combined. Even by Traxxas standards it's extremely expensive.
In real drag racing, the trans brake, is almost in every drag car ever built. Trans is short for Transmission. What it does is locks the transmission to where it can't move and then instantly transfers power to the drive train. It's actually quite useful because it can make your reaction time alot better and more consistent.
Well the traxxas version is a Trans (mitter) brake. All it is, is a throttle disconnect switch. It's very simple, yet effective. How useful it is...time will tell
Think I’ll use a drag rig as my speed run car. Slash may be a good option if they do a roller. Swap back to wide arms, already has the wheelie bar and low chassis with a better trans / motor mount. It’ll be a fun lot basher. Especially since it has braking tsm, it’ll help the deceleration at the end of my runs.
That's what I did with mine I kept the same arms and just put the drag tires on it and lcg chassis with the VXL same system they're running in that car mine doesn't want to pull to the left or right it stays pretty straight and I'm easily hitting 60s if you put it on an extra drag strip where they have the stick on the road it'll go way faster car still really cool though I like the body
Nice Josh! I’ve got some clear 3M paint protection film, leftover from wrapping my 1:1 car.....before I install the wheelie bar.....I’m wrapping the roof😎

Thank you for showing the bottom of the chassis, this verifies to me that the trans fit a stampede. As i said before It's basically the same thing offered by others in the segment. other than a new gyro and a short rear shock tower it's not that innovative. That said, the transmission is the biggest thing to cheer about. Metal motor plate and a true sealed diff (not a planetary type to boot😎) make this an upgrade, that has been begged for for at least 25 years now. I been wanting to build a new Stampede, but I hate having to use third party parts, when it should only be an option.. The only thing i don't like about the trans, is the fixed arm mounts, no adjustments for rear toe or anti-squat
Damn you Harley. I was one of those "no way $500 for a vxl slash" guys. Your breakdown makes it almost seem worth the money. Great info as always. I think I would try a piece of clear crash wrap on that roof. The body is too pretty to trash
You made my day when your fresh body 💥 went byebyez 😆🤣 thank you 👍 at least it's out the way now! I find it better to get the babying out the way with a nice big tar kiss ✌️
I love having another option in the market, but I'm admittedly struggling to find the $170 in cost increase between a Drag Slash and the Slash VXL. The Losi has more competitive (and legal) electronics, all-metal CVA axles, and the body is licensed from the same exact manufacturer (Chevrolet) for $100 less. Where's the extra ~$100 in value on the Traxxas?
DR10 - $340 with metal drive shafts. Drag Slash - $500 moulded drive shafts. And folks say California is overpriced and Texas is good value. Er, nope...
Drive shafts aren't a big issue. It's more about the price being absurdly high even for a Traxxas. You could almost buy two rtr Traxxas vxl 10th scale kits for that.

Some might be complaining because this one truck is around the same price as Two complete RTR Traxxas 1/10 kits, those being the similar vxl Slash and standard Bandit. It's almost like the manufacturing cost didn't influence the retail price.
Would you happen to know if the Jconcepts Buick Grand National Body will fit the Drag Slash? An RC shop by my house was going out of business and I got a deal on 13 different Pro-Line and Jconcepts bodies for $10 a piece and the Grand National was one of them.
