Man that purple body is so sick! Nickname it purple rain. And the black nova reminds me of Kurt Russell's death proof car. Soo cool!
Call it fat Barney
Awesome video as always, really appreciate the links in the description, makes watching your videos way better than other ones I have watched. I can see something I might want and don't have to rewind and search for the item.
Something many have figured out - it's cheaper to build a narrow-bodied no-prep car from a Bandit, than it is to build from a Slash. With the Slash-based build, there are quite a few Bandit parts needed...but, with the Bandit-based build, for the most part, all you need is the Slash LCG Conversion Kit, and a few Slash front end parts.
EDIT:. I commented about the Bandit-based vs Slash-based build before I watched the entire video, only to discover you end up mentioning what I had also said.
Also, you'll be hard-pressed to find many people using that Pro-Line wheelie bar. Having a single ground-contact point could turn out to be more problematic then it's worth.
Also cheaper just to get a DR10 or 22S kit.
@@jyax0647 But more enjoyable...a LOT MORE enjoyable...actually BUILDING your own car. Sure, you can let the factory build it for you...but, until you build your own RCs, you'll never understand that building them is half the fun. Even in getting an X-MAXX, instead of buying the RTR, I bought a roller from an RC chop shop, and am building it how I want it. Out of all my land vehicles, the ONLY one that was an RTR was my first Rustler 4x4...ALL others were kits, rollers, and, in the case of my two Class 3 comp crawlers, built entirely from individually purchased parts - now THAT'S how to truly do RC.
Don't be lazy...build something crazy.
@@robbryan3044 And that’s why you buy the kits. I fully agree building a kit or finishing a roller chassis is way more fun.
im building one using a slash cause i already had one my friend gave me it does take alot of parts im just not using driveshafts if there too long ill shave them down and work with em till i need em im not doing any hard launches so i dont need the thickies
That 1 wheel wheelie bar doesnt seem like it would work that good
The purple slash almost looks too nice to drive 😍
Thanks for all your time and effort 🙏 it is very much appreciated
Yes man love it murder nova is my favorite street outlaw that thing came out sweet can’t wait to see your other one
Didn’t take much to figured out the math!. I’m glad they produce one RTR. 🇨🇱👍
Looks badass mark,Good job!! Stay Safe Stay Healthy
What a great project and the result looks very cool! 😎
Murder Nova!! I just converted my Slash to a Drag Slash. Did the clear 68 Nova body. Painted pearl black w tinted windows, black wing, black wheels. Got the aluminum wheelie bar & it throws sparks. So much fun!
edit: I used Bandit rear arms I had laying around. I couldn't get the rear tires tucked under the rear fenders. Ended up cutting them out more...looks ok. Yours is better.
Great conversion, Mark. I have to say both of them look sick, the Proline Drag Slash and the Traxxas one. I have just bought a used Proline 2wd Short Course Truck, that I will use for my Drag build.
i kept wondering why my CAR destroys these... its because you clowns are using trucks made for the dirt. lol keep on losing.
Wow you dropped that juicy content with perfect timing. This is good stuff Brother. You put in work on that mod to get it done. Super Clean
I trimmed the stock front body post down to the hight I wanted and re drilled pilot holes worked great. Just built pretty much tge same car minus the new transmission. To me it cost a little bit more but pretty satisfying when it done.. awesome vids
I am in love with your garage!
BUILD! Always build!! 😁 Paint is almost the best part!! My choice would, for the first car, is the Proline 3rd Gen Camaro, 2nd would be a 60s Nova, and last is 80s Regal 🏁🏆✊🧨🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Build one, i have and definitely cost me less than $500...
That's not even including the fact that you have to spend another $100+ for a new radio because you can't use the tsm receiver for racing.
@@gasolinediesel972 Can get a radio for $45 and it good enough considering range is only 150 feet
@@fencer39 You have to get a radio with good responsiveness. You don't want some cheap garbage.
With the tranny, tires, body, and brushless?
Same
The purple is badass looking
I was super excited for the drag slash, even waited for it to come out. But I think I'll just build my own. I can make it the way I want and yes, you can build it cheaper. - if I bought the rtr I can almost guarantee it will see little to no use
😍😍😍 love it
That thing looks allll the way killer nice job.
Thanks mark... I'm probably gonna buy...then build some later...your car looks amazing...cant wait to see some hits...🤘😆
Dude!!!!! I'm gonna try in build my own!!!!!! Awesome video...I also subscribed!
Hell yeah great video man can’t wait to buy one
Dude.....that thing looks sick.....love the Black Nova body. It's cheaper to buy it built....you can cut corners on somethings to make it cheaper....but it's cheaper rtr.....great video👍
Even though the drag slash looks nice, I prefer the murdered out Nova 😎😆
That clear trans case looks sikk!
Heck yeah man thanks for the build I'm going to try again to get mine together you put part's I needed down I got that nova body also thanks
that looks beeeeeeutiful
I see that Kevin got a Green one. I put it on my Wish list for next year. Great video Mark
I built mines from scratch.. all in all to make it to a roller and to keep it coast down with plastic shocks and the regular transmission case with start gearing without electronics remote I spent approximately 220 that’s without the body body cost me about $55 .. now adding the electronics I paid 180 as tax included for spectrum remote with receiver and another 160 for castle creation combo … so it was over 500 just building it
Looks good!!!
Awesome build! Thanks for doing this. I'm not dissing the Traxxas drag Slash but I would like to build my own at some point like you did. I do like the Nova style. I'm kind of building an ET48 2.0 at the moment though.
Mark great job. In the videos I’ve watched using proline shocks they say to use front shocks in the rear as well. The front shocks don’t push the a-arms down as much.
Picked up a new bandit vxl slider for $70 from a chop shop. Lcg slash chassis is $35 locally. Wheels and tires are $80. A cheap 5.5 brushless system was $75. Body was $50. Made my own wheelie bar for $10. Used a gt3c that I already had for a radio, just needed a $16 receiver. Total cost was $336. Runs a consistent 2.76, is solid and straight down the track, and was 100% built on a budget. So it can be done cheap, if you source your parts in different ways.
You gave me a great idea. I have a bandit that is needed rebuilt. Get a LCG chassis and convert it.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice looks great i got the proline trans for my bandit street and dirt basher
I wonder if those Mickey Thompson's are exclusive to the drag Slash, I wouldn't mind some for my DR10 build.
they are super wide too... I like them.
Nice. I used same body with same color. I just added blue flames
Love this truck. Even though I dont have one yet. I want this purple one and the red one and the black one and the white one lol .thanks for sharing with us mark. Great video 💪👍✌💯🍺🤘🚬
I built one for around 400 or less but definitely cool seeing you do it
Mark shoutout to FORCE. Filipino Okanagan RC Enthusiast here in BC Canada!
I am definitely going to Canton next weekend for the drag races
Street outlaws fan? Nice! I use to be part of the pit crew for Lizzy's dad!
Its awesome when they give it to you
I’ve built and still in the process of upgrading and changing my traxxas drag car.
I converted my rustler to a traxxas drag. It's a multifarious mess of parts from the slash to the bandit but I pretty much settled on the lcg chassis with hardend plastic bandit arms on back and aluminum front slash arms. I'm also running the shorter front shock all around with the big bore aluminum shocks up front and the stock shocks that came with the rustler. As for the transmission.... I have 3 I swap in and out. I have the pro line 32 pitch which is alright but I like my hot racing all aluminum transmission and I also have a Robinson racing all metal 32 pitch spur gear which is my favorite spur gear. I run 1s and 3s with the gear ratio low to keep Temps down and have longer run times for the bash/speed runs. As for the wheelie bar I also have a few to choose from. I have the pro line on you have as well as the hot racing one which I don't like the ascetic to much. Not pleasing to the eye but the one I love the most is my dr10 carbon fiber wheelie bar custom fitted to fit any traxxas motor protector don't know what they call it. The only price I want to replace is the 30° bulkhead with the 0° one the slash drag comes with. Very squirrly if toe and camber are at 0°.... and I have both same bodies for my traxxas drag build pearl white nova and a crimson rosewood c10. Oh an I'm running pro line Hoosier all around sitting on j concepts rims. Yea love it lol
That’s a beauty!… But!…But!…wait for it Mark!…you missing your MSM stickers on it Mark!…lol 😂😂😂🇸🇬
Dang man you've done up a Traxxas drag slash the way I've always wanted to but I've made my mind up hopefully soon ill have the losi drag car the camaro.
Are you going to do a review on the 4-Tex 3.0
Of course!!!!
Really nice car street outlaws
Remember to balance your tires and then you have fun
Ok.....so I made my comment BEFORE your video even started lol! This is cooler then I'd like to admit 😜 There is a UA-camr named Freshsqueezwrc and he took an LCG chassis to make a drift car! I'd really like to see that! And also cause my son has an RMX and it's been a pain to build and also cause I'm a Traxxas fan 😁 Anyway dude, awesome as always!! Love your stuff and love hearing your advice 🤘
Almost First!
Looks nice. Will be interesting to see how they compare on track. Great vid Mark 👏👍
What are the caster block differences a little more in depth?
The holes that the hinge pins go through are larger on the bandit... its strange
Great Info Mark Im joining your patreon I was building a Rustler for speed runs but I think Im gonna switch to a drag Car...I have a bandit/Rustler chassis and I have castle power all ready I printed out your parts list and Im gonna build one or convert my speed runner into a drag car...Thanks again
Oh my gosh you gotta show us that painted body now dammit!!! 🔥😁
So what I’ll say is my friend gave me his old 4s maxx system. I put that system in my stock 2wd slash stock trans played with the gearing and I guarantee it will take the new drag slash any day of the week.
I think it would be worth it especially the new radio and the new rear end
The losi drag s22 has everything exept the shocks for less.... when we say its overpriced we mean that iin this meta game the competition offers more than what the drag slash can
The Losi doesn’t have the trans brake, which is a neat feature. I don’t know if it make you more competitive.
@@zaccarrollart3493 I see no use for the trans brake. It would almost be better to pull the trigger because of how much of a pain launching the car can be. Instant power really fast, in my experience, usually makes you spin out.
@@jyax0647 I can see that. Does this one have the gyro? I’m just wondering if the tech is where some of the cost is, I’m new to this and looking to get one just weighing options.
@@zaccarrollart3493 Yes, it has a gyro. But that’s banned from competition use.
I believe both the Team Associated DR10 and Losi 22S drag car have gyros at a WAY lower price than what traxxas is offering.
Plus, the DR10 and 22S perform much better than a Slash.
@@jyax0647 so let’s say you were buying one which would you choose?
If you want the flat paint finish you can take a very light sand paper or scotch bright to the body before you add stickers
My absolute favorite rc UA-camr. Thanks for all the great content and information Mark!
Thank you sir!!!
look how much fun you had building your own car. the look on your face said it all vs buying one already built. plus is the Traxxas drag slash competitive out the box or will you have to spend more money to be competitive at your local track. I say build your own vs spending $500 on a truck that your going to be swapping parts on anyway.
My thoughts on buy a kit or build it from parts depends on budget and your end goals and vision for the build. Personally I’d still start my build with just a pile of choice aftermarket parts if I were to go with a slash based drag car(only because I have a bunch of parts 😂) but I have no delusions of my way being cheaper than what you can just buy from Traxxas currently especially starting from scratch however I’ve been eyeing the kit version of the DR10 so 🤷♂️😂
A good example of better off starting from parts, I recently finished a Tamiya M07 based M-chassis build based around an aftermarket CF chassis conversion kit and just purchasing the original Tamiya parts needed (or the Tamiya/Aftermarket hop-up version of those parts) for the original car along with the conversion chassis kit. My build total is still more than if I just bought the tricked out factory version of the car and called it a day but that’s not what I wanted and I’d still end up buying that CF chassis conversion kit (which costs about the same price as the Tricked out version of the Tamiya Kit itself) add to that a few hop-ups that didn’t come in that original and the fact that I’d be tossing 90% of that Tamiya kit in the bin so basically buying the original kit becomes a waste of money and there’s my savings which is about $200. neither version came with wheels, Tires or a Body FYI
I think on the proline Chanel they posted a build video and they drilled the holes on the caster blocks out
My bandit is in the process of being in a drag car
Awesome video like always who's your painter
Nice you need to get a flat clear and spray the outside making the black paint flat 👍🏼🤙🏼
I'm still deciding on my opinion on drag racing , I need to go to a race
This is just my opinion or thoughts. If you're going to be competitive a custom chassis, esc, motor and a few other things i would think you would be money ahead building one but if it's just one to run on the street and mess around with the rtr would be a good idea and upgrade as you go. Kinda like racing our rc10s and jrx2s back in the 90's by the time you upgraded all the aftermarket stuff there wasn't much left for stock parts.
I thank I'm going with shash front and bandit rear
All u have to change on the front is the pins that hold the wheels... I built one exactly the same : )
cool body .. i got sharkrcbodies gto i made mine to look like the big chiefs crow . im just waiting to i can get traxxas drag slash
You can get a dr10 for 299 that has everything and even a sealed diff and metal motor plate with it because associated has always been that way lol. Now u can put a sw4 and 3800 to 7700kv kv motor options on it for 50 less then that slash. Associated is a way better brand so that's a win win
I want to do a custom build personal drag car, with a front engine, solid rear axle, basically make a true scale drag car.
Very cool. Spot on about the cost factor in building one up. Especially the person who has nothing to start with. Maybe a person with extra cars or parts could be a little cheaper but not that much. Can’t wait to see the side by side running. Which car does Q-top get to drive against you
Hes driving the traxxas one with tsm on... hahaha
@@MarkSantaMaria be careful he might beat you with the off the shelf model.🤣
I agree with you Mark it is cheaper a bit to buy it than to make your own but Compared to the other rtr cars like the dr10 and the losi camaro both are cheaper and ultimately better cars dr10 cheaper change motor still cheaper better than the slash and the losi better period. But I guess it's all opinions
you should of got the same 90mm size shocks front & rear, if this a Drag car 🤘🏼💯
Bro I saw an infraction v2 on ya shelf in a video when are you going to do a vlog on that
Get a 2 pole motor and ESC system for a faster 2s ride. 4 pole motor is slower on 2s.
Hey Mark I already have a remote that has launch control in it would you go with the low seat 22 for speed
Early gang
I was going to suggest you do a vid on this topic. Beat me to it!
I wonder if you use a LCG Slash chassis with 3d printed parts will hold up for rc drags
Can you put a set of regular street tires on these to cruise around and then throw the slicks and wheelie bar back on when its drag racing time?
It is definitely better to build your own drag car than to buy. The traxxas drag slash is pretty slow compared to the one i built. But it wasn't cheap.
I want that Chevy body for my rustler.
The best thing to do is get a Vxl bandit and put a slash lcg chassis on it that’s what i dix
I agree with its cheaper to buy a drag slash to building one with the same accessories but I think you could buid a faster slash then the drag slash with a better esc and a 2.5 or 1.5 turn motor
i’m new to the rc stuff and my first car is a slash 4x4 ultimate. can i make that into a “drag slash” just by shaving some weight and putting some slicks on it. what really makes a drag slash? i’m new to this. just wondering if i can do it
Question: is it possible to build this as an all around basher rather than a drag racing car?
Mark, I'm with you, don't think you can build one for less! However, AE and Losi are offering their no prep cars for $100-$150 less and have similar tech?! Time will tell!
You can use plastic bodied, threaded, GTR shocks for $50/pair and save $100 compared to using Proline's shocks.
Will the proline bodies fit on the New drag Slash or only the C-10
buy or build?
BOTH!!!
Traxxas bandit 189 plus 39 for cassis hobbywing esc motors combo 150 450 but buy vxl bandit 260 39 that’s under 3 you could buy a slider off eBay for 150 you can do it cheaper any rustler slash stamped will work
Try out dr10 from team associated? Upgraded spur to 86 pinion to 31.... Things hot and blows slash out of water......
You need bandit front and rear axles. Only rear arms are needed
The BIG DADDYS dont bother the reactions are way better even better than the rear hoosiers. Yhou want belted tires. I put a million diff fliud in my proline trans and it works better. Helps keep it straight. For me anyway. I just bought a used bandit on letgo for $70 and just put on a LCG chassis and I was good. RX8 with 4.5 motor. Savox 7.4v servo.
Now you have tens years as a drag racer.
