Excellent video Ronnie! Well explained, well filmed and well edited. This video finally gave me the courage to fix this problem on my c5 S6 (same seal in mine as yours was). How important is it to tap the new seal in to 1.7mm depth though? I dont have the special tool to tap it in. Managed to get it in flush, then tapped it in a tiny bit further (definitely not 1.7mm though) but didnt want to risk it falling in so stopped at that. Is it likely to cause a problem in your experience? Thank you. Pete.
Thanks for watching , I'm glad you found it helpful 😁 no I think the measurement is just one they picked to make sure it is in and not rubbing on the flange. So I think anything flush or further is fine, without going right through like you say. Was your seal flat like my rs6 or with the lip like my s6?
@@SuperRon thanks for replying. Yeah I was hoping that'd be case with the recommended depth, I'm sure it'll be fine. Once it's had a few heat cycles it'll settle to where it wants to be anyway hopefully. My seal was the flat one just like yours is - so I ordered the right one luckily. I replaced all the bolts as you suggested too. Thanks again for the vids. Really enjoy the S6 and RS6 content (and all the other v.a.g group stuff too). Keep up the excellent work Ronnie. Cheers. Pete
Awesome video Ron. You make these videos very enjoyable and educational at fault finding regarding the c5 platform gremlins and how to put it right. That RS Avant wagon is a beast and would look brilliant with a set of 20" Le Mans S5 wheels just like the set you had on your old S6.🤙🤙
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 😁 I still like the prestige of the RS6 being completely standard at the moment, but I'm sure the mods will commence one day 😉
great video amazing work, I'd love to see more videos of this beast like you did for the S6! I hear this kind of work costs a lot of money to do when a non mechanic like myself would take it to an Audi specialist
Thanks for watching, it's a program called Elsawin, it's like a haynes manual on steroids! I got my discs on ebay for about a tenner years ago, or there are companies that sell them too. Give it a google 👍
Thank you for the informative video. I have one question: My vehicle is a 2001 audi a6 2.8 quattro C5 ATQ. I am unable to buy the old seal (the one without the lip) here in Canada. Can you tell me where you purchased yours. I was hoping to get a couple shipped to me. Thank you for your time and effort. Peter

Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful 😁
Nice shop man! Great work!
Thanks for watching 😁
Brilliant video, many thanks Ron.
Thanks for watching 👍
Some useful info
Hi, great video. I have to do it on my car also, do you leave the car in the Parking position the whole way through the replacement ?
Many thanks !
Thank you. I put it in Neutral so I could rotate the prop shaft to be able to remove the bolts.
Awesome video... thanks for sharing! ❤
Thanks 😁

We charge £50/hour here for this kind of thing.
@@SuperRon amazing work mate and that sounds very reasonable!
That's an epic video sir! I have to do this exact job in the next 2 weeks.... Is that a Milwaukee M12 impact gun you're using to loosen things?
Thanks for watching, I'm glad it's been helpful! It's a snapon impact gun, but the electric ratchet is a Milwaukee.
Great video. Very informative and easy to understand *thumb up emoji*. I need to do this on my Passat. What was the website you're using at 11:47 ?

Nice work
Thanks for watching 😁
Hi mate ,does the oil needs to be same as the one from gearbox??
Not on a automatic. On a manual the diff and transfer box are the same as the gearbox, but autos like the RS6 has separate gearbox oil.
Awesome mucker thank you for your video 👏👏👏
Thanks for watching 😁
I am putting wahler intercoolers into my RS6 c5 so not looking forward to that but will help the hybrid turbo's and the stage 2 MRC remap
Cool man. Thanks.
Thanks for watching 😁
Whats the spec on the oil mate?
I'm not sure what the actual weight of the oil is, the audi bottles only give the part number
According to the forums it should be a 75w-90 synthetic oil, and has an initial fill of 880ml (0.93qt) of G 052 145 S2

Thanks for watching. I got it directly from the main dealer here in the UK
@@SuperRon Thx for your reply. Would you be able to give the name of the dealer and address so l can contact them.
Thank you for your time!
We get our trade parts from TPS which are all linked together so they all exchange parts with each other.
Everything was great except for you didn't forget to put new grease For the prop shaft connection yours is pretty dry
You need to get a ramp at your unit
I wish I had the head room 😒
@@SuperRon get one of those lifts that goes halfway, then a mechanics seat. Win win
I have looked into them and that's the route I'll probably go 👍
The question I have is...If you use the old style seal on the revised flange, will that work still?.
In theory I'd say yes, the groove just won't be used. But I dont know for sure 👍
