There doesn't seem to be any details on the net about Pat Heywood's passing. I had a look because I always enjoyed seeing her performances, especially in an episode of Public Eye entitled Horse and Carriage.
There may've be better actors, but I fully concur that Leonard was well worth watching. There was certainly more to him than Rigsby, but he was still great in Rising Damp.
Ain't that the truth. As long as the MSM push the government-sanctioned message enough, the vast majority of the people will buy into it. It's deppressing AF.

What a work of art. Like all good writing, the laugh is uncomfortable. So many great points made in this and most interesting ones, given we are watching it years later. Lovely to see a young Lesley Manville - big fan of hers. Leonard is, as always, stunning.

Some of them maybe, but there were a lot of shit episodes too. I ran across a few dozen of these, which were unwatchable! If I'm going to put an hour to an hour & 1/2 of my time in, the story or at last the characters have to be interesting to me. Also as an American, I often struggle trying to understand Irish and Scottish accents.
absolutely. a reason why acting has gone to the dogs is because stuff like this isn't produced any more. actors don't act any more, they just portray themselves. the versatility of rossiter here just exemplifies his relatability.

I was so delighted to come across this. Pat Heywood is my aunt and I’m so proud that I am related to her. She was wonderful to have as an aunt when I was a child. She is English actually. Still alive although not in the best of health. UA-cam is amazing for keeping drama of this quality alive. Leonard Rossiter of course - legendary.

I rather think it has always happened, though not yet as public policy. Look at how difficult it was to catch Shipman - only when he started fiddling with wills and bequests did meaningful investigations take place.

He wasn’t so good in another of these plays where he was with other recognisable faces. His accent attempt left a lot to be desired.
