I prefer this one over the new GT500. In fact this is my second favorite generation of Mustangs.
This in a super snake widebody version 👍, I still love the new one though too
I prefer a Resto modded 1969 Boss 429 by classic recreations, everything new underneath but a 1969 body. I’d never get any new pony car. New ones are Too fat and bulky and they weigh too much. 69 body all the way. No offense

The 13-14 Shelby GT500 is one of my favorites. The Shelby Super Snake of this model produces 850 hp. I would love to see the 2020 GT500 run against a 13-14 Shelby Super Snake.

What's the '20 top speed? I think it is a bit lower then the earlier 13/14 models....

His top speed was low for a 2.7 mile drag run.ive seen this same shelby get to 185 in 1 mile.he was short shifting, 4th gear will reach 173mph and 5th will take you all the way to 202mph, he changed to 5th gear at 160 so it didnt pull as hard because of his short shifting.may have even shifted up to 6th gear, seems like he shifted to overdrive at 160 instead of shufting to 5th at 170
Yeah you're right, I own a 14 GT500 and I can easily go 160 mph in 4th gear!!

Sounds like he’s shifting at about 7000 RPM until 5th gear. Odd.
1-2 shift occurs at 65 MPH GPS
2-3 shift occurs at 90 MPH GPS
3-4 shift occurs at 125 MPH GPS
Short shift into 5th occurs at about 150 MPH GPS.
I don't blame him. I've heard these engines don't like to be pushed to redline?

A lot of tuned mustangs in Florida between palm beach dyno and lund racing. Both are the top Mustang tuners in the US. They will definitely find one for a top speed run with no limiter. They also can make a 2020 pull up to 8200rpm
They are not top mustangs in the U.S ..they’re just known because of UA-cam...I know plenty of bad ass mustang dedicated tuner shops..in my area there was “B&DRacing” but he retired last year! There’s also “wild pony motorsports” “shrader performance” “kurgan motorsports” There’s “livernoise performance” “lethal performance” “fathouse performance” etc.... all bad ass mustang tuners! If anything I only started hearing about palm beach dyno like a year ago when they introduced the new gt500...and the guy is only famous because he was one of the first to start tuning the 2020 gt500’s on UA-cam...and Lund only got famous because it was the UA-cam mustang tuner shop to go to
@@petrolhead8851 when it comes to actual tuning of the computer. A lot of those companies get there tunes from either Lund or PBSd. They all work together. And neither one of them gave 2 craps about youtube. PBD and Lund were the best way before they started showing up on youtube. It's just you hear about them on youtube because everyone wants the best. So they are going to have one or the other. Midnight performance holds a lot of records and they are lund. Lund was the first 2020 gt500 in the 8s and palm beach dyno was the second. Iconic gt500 is now the record holder and he is regular customer that gets tuned by palm beach dyno. So 2 gt500s and only those 2 tuners ha e done it. Iconic is not a youtuber. Yes he throws a video up here and there. But he is far from a actual youtuber. He has stuff on his car from lethal performance and works with them. But they dont tune his car. Now david van voris. He held the 7s gen 3 coyote record. Garage built car 1200hp then soon to make y2000hp its lund tuned. Stock sealed coyotes in the 7s with a tune from one of those companies. With out a good tuner you would be blowing up in the mid 8s. Mustang lifestyle and stangmode both use lethal performance stuff and both get tuned by palm beach dyno. I've seen guys with fathouse stuff go get tuned one or the other. Check any forum. If you ask for the best it will say one or the other.

Me too, but I'm afraid gear ratios are designed to offer maximum acceleration with the cost of a not-so-high top speed. Besides, that car has a lot of downforce to overcome...
PS: Heavily disappointed with this one. I know there's been many tests that support the fact that it can't reach 200 mph as stated, but I really expected more than 190 mph...
@@sergioferrero46 yeah that is what they were made for is low end power for the race trAck. But the video they had seemed like it could’ve kept going and shmee150 took his to the top speed as well. With no limiter/govern I think it would keep going for awhile past 180mph. Plus tuners have been able to get them to rev to 8200rpm which would give it more rpm to go. So all that extra rpM and no limiter. 😎 Palm Beach Dyno and Lund racing are both in Florida and both were able to get 1250hp and a 1/4 mile in the 8s out of factory sealed engines factory transmissions factory ported blowers and even factory fuel systems. If they could do that with cars that can still handle than I’m sure they would gladly pull the limiter off a gt500 and or just give them a1300hp gt500 to run the top speed.
@@sergioferrero46 plus for a top speed run you just go with the 70k base gt500 and you don’t have the big wing and front splitter wickers to worry about.

Looking backwards it really is and we will never see it again. So we have to cherish these preserved beasts of time. 2014 seems like 3 years ago though.

sounds like he went from 4th to 6th.. 6th is a MPG gear in these cars. top speed should be done in 5th
Yea he definitely short shifted in 4th gear, he may have even shifted up to 6th gear because that shelby pulls like a freight train, its actually faster than a manual shift hellcat.4th will stretch to 173, he shifted up from 4th at 160, ill be willing to bet he shifted up to 6th.also this same car has reached 185 in the texas mile stock,something not adding up

He was short shifting his gears, ive seen that same shelby get to 183 in 1 mile,it doesnt take 2.7 miles not unless this video is a fake and this is a 1 mile run.4th gear will stretch all the way to 173mph, he shifted to 5th gear at 160 so its definitely not going to get there as quick as it should.

The runway is 8.3ft above sea level so theoretically it should perform well

That car will reach 183 in just 1 mile, something not adding up,ive seen it reach 183 completely stock in the texas mile pretty consistently.also he was short shifting, he short shifted 4th gear, 4th stretches to 173mph, he shifted to 5th gear at 160 which is way too soon, definitely played a role in the way the car was pulling on the top end.
Redo the video with another driver or something, fans and viewers want to see this mustang's Real limit

Not many were produced, but I would love to see what a Shelby GT 1000 could achieve on these grounds. I've seen Dyno runs, revs and half throttle sends leaving car shows. But never full send footage of that car. And I couldn't think of a more appropriate location than this. If the production model Shelby can reach that speed. I'd bet my last dollar the GT 1000 would reach 210 or better.
how did motortrend do 196 in 90 plus degree heat and altitude? they said it would have gone 200 if it were cooler or they had more road.
Theres a ton of factors that play into it. These different locations are probably different heights above sea level which also plays a part.
Were they using the factory speedo to record the speed?, if so that would explain some of it and the gearing as well, were both cars using the same rear diff's? We are at sea level so that wouldn't be a factor. Quite often many tests from other entities are"fluffed up" and we see heartbreaking results at times when everything is controlled @ JBPG. They're in Kingman, AZ (3300ft) using what looks like a vbox with a stock car, so I'd assume the rear gears were the same as well. They hit almost 191 in over 100 degree heat, then 196 the next morning when it was cooler.

Looks like the gearing is pretty steep.
Super steep!!!! The only mod I have done to my 13' is swap out the 3.31s for 4.10s

They say that but you need a whole lot of road to achieve it.
It can only achieve that speed on a calculator. X amount of power to achieve Y speed basically. I think it was advertised at 204mph or something but Noone has done it with a stock mustang.

In the Colorado mile a stock '13 hit 185mph. That's at over 5k ASL. Where was this tested???

Being under 10ft above sea level, elevation certainly is not the issue here. It’s almost as though he shifted from 4th to 6th with how little (and slowly) it accelerated beyond 153mph. Perhaps the cross wind may have been a factor? 🤔 Either way, I expected a better result.
They're a little faster than this they can almost hit 200 under optimal conditions

The driver made the mistake of going into six gear. Randy Pobst made the same mistake along with that Autobahn UA-cam channel. It will only hit 200+ mph in fifth gear.
I hope for more high hp cars come. Like 1600hp 1700hp supra. 1200hp mustang. Ferrari f90. 1000+hp Hellcats. 1200hp mustang gt 10r80 /6r80. And more🔥
Seems really slow compared to dad's stock car I have to say. Had it well over 160 and it was pulling way harder than that.
It looked and sounded like he shifted to 6th because I know for a fact it pulls harder than that after 160 in my stock one as well
Acceleration was slow I'm lower gears too. The 60-130 time was around 9-10 seconds, a Mustang GT is 10.7. This GT500 should be in the mid to low 8's 60-130.

Good friend just bought this same car , said specs were 210 mph Top Speed ? I can see it doing this with 662 HP and a 3.31 rear gear, but obviously pushing a brick through the air has more drag that they thought. Oh , Ive never seen a top speed run take so long to go from 177 to 183 . He tried, just need to find out how they claim it would do 210 ???
Somethings not right here my uncle has a 2013 gt500 we got up to 150 in the blink of an eye on the street up hill and it still felt like it had room to go i know for a fact the myuncle has reached over 185 so something is wrong here

Zaki, weight has nothing to do with it. It's around 3800lbs which is about 300lbs lighter than the 2020 Shelby GT500 base model which is 4,186lbs. It's manual so it climb to top speed as quick as the others with automatic transmission and dual clutch transmissions. Also, it's about aerodynamics and gearing. Gearing plays a large role.

As a 2014 GT500 owner, however with changed pulley - > with the car in this video is something wrong. On German Highways which has no speed limit (Autobahn) I often reach 300km/h = 187mph easily! Very often, regardless of conditions. Is it cold and with low altitude I reach 195 mph.
I never reach the 200mph - but should by the changed rear gear 3.73 and the torsen T2-R.

What kind of test was that. You limited the car to 4th gear. Why not shift into 5th. You had more time for it to pull past 184mph.

@@JerryDLTN yeah people have hit 200mph. But the difference is they changed the rpm of the gt500 13 to 14 the 14 actually has a lower top speed but supposedly had a faster 0-60

@@drfaticus should be able to find a side by side of the 2013 vs 2014 if you google it. I just know because my dad has a 1972 Gran Torino with a 2011 gt500 engine and we researched at the time because he was going with a automatic in it. He ended up with a tci 6x which allows for lower rpm at higher speeds. It’s called project breathless Gran Torino. There is a article about it if you google the car in the Standard RPM. His is the supercharged 5.4L and essentially the 5.8L in the 13 -14 is the same almost. But the 13s have hit the 200mph 0-60 3.5 this 14 on this video is only supposed to do 190mph and 0-60 in 2.9 some articles have said. But I don’t picture that. Usually you can’t get 0-60 that low without being a mid engine car. That’s why they made the corvette mid engine. They knew they would never get that 0-60 any faster after the zr1. Or awd. Fastest mustang 0-60 from factory is going to be the Mustang Mach E GT performance 😂

1969 body looks better. Swap the parts from the new one into the 69 = Looks AND performance, and a lighter weight mustang
10speed would be interesting in this beast.
This owner has a clutch that is slipping. You can hear by the way he has to gas it at the start. His standing mile was low and this 2+ mile run is low as well. I suspected this after watching the mile vid and this confirms it. Finnegan ran 187 in the Mojave Magnum in a stock 2013 in Hot Rod a while back which is only 1.5 miles. A healthy, well-driven 13-14 car will run 171-173 in a standing mile and should be up around 195 with a long runway like this.
First off 1 gear ford rated it to go up to 60 and whoever shifts it at 14mph and 2 he misses forth gear
