Had a really rough game last night. Rebound control is a huge issue for me. I usually make the first save but then I lose my composure and feel like I’m falling back on my heels when I’m in butterfly, to where I can’t find my edges and just end up being really late. And my hands are a mess. I holster them when I make saves. Great video. I don’t have anyone to drill this kinda stuff with but watching this footage is really helpful.
Great question! Angle of the stick is important here. The goalie in the video should angle his stick blade and paddle more toward the glove side corner in anticipation of controlling the rebound. These are hard shots to control the rebound on, but a little bit of pre shot prep, making sure your stick is at a good angle, will make a huge difference.
@@YourFellowTurtle If it's a soft enough shot, then controlling it by stopping it and covering it up would be the best option. There's never anything wrong with controlling it on the stick blade then going for the cover up!
Of course! I stay pretty active on my social accounts. Feel free to give me a follow on Instagram where I put out more content than my UA-cam channel @thementalgoalie

"re-visit fundamentals from time to time"..... absolutely! we always do a mid-season recap and a couple "back to basics" practices.
Absolutely, sometimes it's the best thing you can do!
In 0:54 how do you play a shot like that and control the rebound without getting a stick on it and leaving it in the middle. Thank you

Oh thanks but what if its a soft shot heading toward the far pad and you’re not able to lift it to the corner since it’s so soft.
