My favourite Jam number ! Bruce should have sang more, he had a great voice . Such aggressive bass and guitar work, loads of downstrokes and thumping tone - I'm sure Lemmy would have approved 🙂
I think the jam were one of the few genuine mod bands I say this because pete townshend said the who wasn't mod but they were adopted by the mods, I think you can say the same about the kinks
If you're saying this isn't live check 1:48. there's a power riff that is much heavier in the vinyl recording. Paul is playing lead and lets that riff go here.
Not sure how many realize how FAST AND PRECISE these guys played.
Rick Buckler is on fire here!!
An iconic track... I love the sheer talent... One of my favourite Jam tracks
The truth in one song!
AN underrated song, the anger in the guitar work is brilliant..
I think with Bruce singing, it allowed Paul to really focus on cultivating a powerful guitar riff
Imagine if Bruce had written more. So good. and the energy of this live is pretty amazing
My favourite Jam track. Love the bass playing especially.
In the top 3 Jam songs! Great to hear the bass so loud in the TOTP mix
Buenísima
agreed
Brucey Foxton. Best bassist in the 70's
I would say best bass player. Period.
He was great but the best ?!! How much 70s music have you heard ?!
Bruce Foxton was a good singer. He sung this & most notably 'David Watts'.
even more notably the superb Smithers Jones.
"Mock the Week" brought me here!
The Jam should bring you here .
@@philforder7958 I'm a punk not a mod lol
Tight little R&B combo
Almost my favourite Jam record

Great early Jam with Foxton on vocals 🎸🎸🇬🇧
what a performance
even tho weller is lead vocal in the jam bruce foxton always stood out more for me, he was pure mod and an amazing guitar bassist
loved him too but thought his hair was a bit long for a mod.
Never a mod, just had to go with the flow
He was in a metal band before The Jam
mullets arent "pure Mod"🤣🤣🤣 Weller was the driving Mod force..the others followed.
There best single ever. Love Bruce so much energy
top drawer my friend .....
There’s a perception that punks can’t play. These guys put that perception to shame.
Fire & skill. thanks for sharing!
Hello and welcome to Mock the Week, Im Dara O'Brien
Sorry, couldn't resist

the sartorial fact that leapers aint bad for you... thanks for uploading
Classic Jam - fire, skill and urgency...
30 years before Twitter ...
bruce foxton great bass player
Hell yes . Lovely tone as well .

The Jam weren't anything that could be pigeon holed....they were EVERYTHING!
Damn They Really Mocked The Week
Mock the Week brought me here.
Great song, amazing band, but, TOTP idea of a "live" performance was a joke!
but the drummers always play

Bruce wrote this song

Does anyone else reckon that Bruce did the rhythm guitar on this, with Paul punctuating with chords overlaid/mixed? And the instrumentals, obvs! 😘
Bruce Foxton did what Paul Weller told him to do. Should have been a bit more strict with his clothes and hairstyle though 😂😂
why cant you find the official video for this? it was on the Snap VHS video ! Them playing on a roof its nowhere on the web that i can see
Yeah I noticed that. It used to be on youtube etc. Vid was filmed on the roof of Battersea Power Station.
Always hate when they do a faraway shot or no close up during a guitar solo!Annoying!:-)

What ?
Weller doesn't look impressed.
Weller never looks impressed
Always to cool to be impressed ...😃
