I love the fact Tool is your #1 and you haven’t listened to their most transcendent song, IMO. “The Grudge” is that song. Check it out. Makes me happy people love this band as much as I do. HOLD ON BRUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Interesting choice! I always considered Pushit to be their transitional track to how they sound now. The song was such an opus... I put it next to The End by the Doors or 2112 (side 1) by Rush. But more so, Pushit was the first track to REALLY take its time to build in a way that became the template for their later music.
The Salival version of Pushit is where he should go next. He's already done a react to the original version and I think the Salival version will break his brain. In a good way!
I still remember the day I first listen to the AEnima album, my favorite of theirs.... I had heard sober years before, but never really sat down and listen to them... And when I heard this album, I had a feeling, with all the sureity of a dream, that Tool was what I had always been looking for.... Like despite never hearing the before it was familiar, like recalling a repressed memory from a past life for the first time.... I've listened to so much tool on various psychadelics
That's the best part of the song.... "I could have cried then, I should have cried then"... This is the song I've always played anyone the first time I show them tool to show them thry don't know what tool is
I have covered this song, vocals, and I have to fight desperately not to choke up. But when "I dont mind" I belt it as if it was my last breath. Sober is a piece of cake, 46&2 is challenging, but this evokes emotions and definitely complicates my ability to break through.
Turned my son into Tool fan early. Hes 23 plays drums... very well. Says " The Grudge" is the best rock tune ever written. Ive heard it a million times still love it. My kids used to count- one mississipi, two mississipi during the scream, its 23 mississippis if you are curious
Because the band is full of genius, each musician does their part masterfully, they have to play long complicated songs with crazy accuracy to make it work. It's all perfect
People are too jaded and stuck in their own perceptions to take it in. Like me when I first listened to Fear Innoculum, I was too unwilling to accept change. When I opened myself up though I started to understand that it really is a masterpiece.
Imagine discovering the greatness of TOOL when you’re 13 like I did. I think I wore a TOOL T-shirt to school every day. Didn’t help with the ladies though.
I discovered the greatness of Tool sitting High AF in a dingy flat/apartment when I was about 17/18yo. It was Reflections that I remember playing (although the whole album had been on). It was the line "Before I pine away......" it was so haunting. I wish i could relive that experiance, but it made me a lifelong Tool fan, so there is that.

H is about his son...fatherhood changing him, killing his old self. The snake is his past and bad experiences he had with his own father. He is haunted by those bad experiences and is afraid of passing it on to his son, Devo H Keenan. “As I look in his eyes (his son), my fear begins to fade. Recalling all of those times I have died. But I don’t mind”.
Good point. "My blood before me begs me.." Now I know he is talking about his son there too. Had no idea this song was about his son. Thanks for the info!
Beginning of the song as well “what’s coming thru is alive...what’s holding up is a mirror” coming thru the birth canal and of course as a father kids have a way of making you reflect especially in this case being a boy...love this song
H. Is Maynard’s young son, the song is about the conflict inside Maynard, between his abusive past and the love he feels for his son. The snake is his hidden anger boiling up at times, while the love of his son and Maynard’s need to protect him from that anger, eventually frees Maynard from that angry inner self. That is the Killing me line, and why he doesn’t mind that part of him dying. It’s a beautiful song, and one of my favorites off the Aenima album. Great reaction Preston!!
I read somewhere that Maynard is a huge fan of CS Lewis. H. Is the initial of CS’ wife who passed, and the song is about how angry with God CS was with his wife’s passing. It’s a angel on your shoulder telling you (him) to deal with the passing in a loving, spiritual way. The demon on his other shoulder is telling him to be angry with God and blame him. It’s an inner struggle. Could be wrong, but that’s the genius with maynards lyrics and song meanings. We discuss and ultimately come to the conclusion, and sometimes we’re way off. But if you think that deeply about the meaning without being told, his job was well done. Beautiful song regardless of the actual meaning.
FUUUUUUUCK YAAAAAA! Even if it is the 103rd time I have heard a Tool song it is like the first, bringing all those emotions up and goosebumps and all. Now to get to see someone expiriencing them simultaneously is powerful! Thanks Preeeeeestoooon! Maynard for President!!!

This takes me back about 20 years. I still remember the 1st time I listened to this. I was already a tool fan, but this song hit me like a ton of bricks and still does.
You absolutely MUST listen to Disposition/Reflection/Triad. Those 3 tracks, in that order, all at once. They all tie together. I promise you that your mind will be blown. I've been a Tool fan since '93 and they are, hands down, my favorite band of all time. Love your reactions to Tool! It's like discovering the band all over again.
Your out-of- body experience is exactly it at a Tool concert. I saw them twice. The first time was right after Aenema came out and it was in an oversold concert venue called the Warehouse in Toronto. As soon as they started the crowd moved like a wave and I was picked up off my feet by the motion and easily travelled ten feet. The visuals, the energy, Maynard himself - at the time painted half-white, half-blue... His vocals are the same live. Incredible shows.
"PRYING OPEN MY THIRD EYE" "PRYING OPEN MY THIRD EYE" Dude I love watching you react to Tool. The song (H) particularly has always been a stand out favorite to me, and means so much more after the birth of my son that it brings me to tears of joy. It's amazing how a great song can transcend time and take on new meanings to the listener in the different seasons of your life.
Two things: 1. It's time to listen to The Grudge. 2. You won't be able to use your phone at their concert. They are notorious for their security at their concerts telling people to turn their phones off. Caught a second time, they kick you out. Seen it happen at both shows I attended.
Absolutely love your love for Tool. They've been my number one my god from day one. You will have that outer body experience when you see them. Their screens and light show are amazing and they stay fairly calm and rock it while you enjoy the show!
Hold on bruh!!!!! Don't forget ticks and leeches and the grudge. Also waiting for some more deftones like rocket skates, tempest, rosemary you've seen the butcher, love the channel watch you as much as espn lol
Happy for you man. This band is transcendental. And ‘h’ is among my favorites because of the bridge [the quiet middle part]. I could also listen to that on repeat haha, and have been since it came out. All the percussion in the back still gives me goosebumps 22 years later. What town you in? They should be touring next year...
funny you should mention having an out of body experience... when Lateralus first came out, i listened to it high and outside, looking up at the night sky.... i honestly felt myself being lifted up towards the stars, like i could see the whole town around me, underneath.... LOL !!! .... TooL ARE a mind-altering drug, all on their own.... congratulations for finding them !
Took has been my favorite band since I first found them. It just took one listen and I went to the record store buying all their albums and jamming those in the car everyday! Amazing band!
A perfect circle {three songs} 1-the outsider (jay leno performance) 2 - Weak and powerless (Jimmy Kimmel performance) 3- three libras (lyric video)....I dig your videos and converted you to a Metal/ Rock head. Keep on rocking 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Really enjoyed watching this video as a Tool fan of 20 years. I'm with you, one my my all-time favorite sections in any of their songs is at 5:42 in your video, gives me chills every damn time. Thanks for the great vid, awesome to see so many people brought together by good music. Much love from California.
Mine too! I love love love everything Maynard James Keenan!!! Tool is my all time favorite band and they got me through some hard times in High School, and yes... their concert was a Spiritual Experience for me. I saw them at Oz Fest ‘98. The audience in the lawn at Deer Creek Music Center set the lawn on fire 🔥. They had 3 huge fires going and people were dancing, running and moshing in circles around it.There was a dust cloud from ripping up turf and throwing it around between the lawn and pavilion. Security gave up trying to stop it. They stood on the roof of the pavilion and watched. The whole experience was just amazing. It was like we were celebrating the end of something imprisoning us. We were free!
One of my all time favorites..have it tattooed on me. Have seen them live 4 times... 1st time I was 19, when Ænima came out... CHANGED MY LIFE!! #toolarmy 💗
Tool is a great band! One of the GOATS! They came out when I was in middle school. I have been listening to them since the 90s. Timeless, relatable music. I love how unique the riffs are too! Fire.
I've only been to a handful of live shows for big bands and Tool put on by far the best concert I have EVER been to. The music alone is great, but the stage performance they put on is out of this world.
It’s VISUAL JOY watching King KTF discover and absolutely love Tool. As many have stated before me, Tool changed me and brought a deeper connection with the music and lyrical content. I literally listen to Tool weekly at a minimum, often daily. When I saw them at Bonnaroo Music Fest my life was completed.
I have three sons, I have taken them all to their fist concerts over the years, at the age of 12. All 3 boys can now say that TOOL was their very first concert. I've been lucky enough to see them live 9 times. It's an experience.
I'm 31 now. I got lucky and hooked on Tool around 14. Changed my entire way of thinking going forward in life. Never stopped effecting my mind. I love Tool
Olly Hudson agreed. Focus on the experience, turn your phone off, soak it all in. After the show, gather your thoughts, and then you can share them with us! We’ll be here waiting.
I’ve been into Tool from the very time I heard “Sober” in 93 til present day…I’ve been lucky enough to see them live 4 times over the years, the 1st show I went to with Tool was at the MCI center in DC on the Lateralus tour….there have been times in my life where Tool has seemed downright Godly 🤷🏼♂️🖤🥶
Your Tool final shall be 'Third Eye'. I suggest listening to it in the dark. In my mythos, the patient patient in 'The Patient' pantientce pays off and 'Third Eye' is the treatment. Infinity lies beyond. Third Eye is the beginning and end.
This is the first Tool song I ever heard when I was a kid and I remember just being like “Whoa what IS this??” There’s *something* about this band-Their music somehow sounds ethereal, sad, sexy, angry and chill all at the same time. Then add to it the singer’s phrasing is so unique (not to mention his haunting voice) and the guitarist and drummer have this strange off-beat timing going on and it just fucks up all my senses. I forgot how much I love this band!
I've been to countless concerts and TOOL by FAR puts on the best live show - the visual effects are mind blowing, and Maynard is so intense. Definitely the greatest performance I've ever witnessed, hands down!
The part you loved...the "pretty part"....yes it's amazing how they are so detailed in this melody. It gave me chills the first time I heard it! Preston, I absolutely adore your Tool Reaction videos!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
It's so awesome to watch someone who appreciates great music experience Tool for the first time. I've seen them several times live and the Aenima tour was super special. IMO, they were at their pinnacle of creativity (subjective, yes). It surely was surreal growing up in the 90s as a rock fan and musician.
Nicholas Putt not this one, man. Come on... so many great SG songs that show their talents, complexities, and power vocal range, far and away over this one.
I love the fact Tool is your #1 and you haven’t listened to their most transcendent song, IMO. “The Grudge” is that song. Check it out. Makes me happy people love this band as much as I do. HOLD ON BRUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

The Grudge, Pushit, Third Eye, Lateralus is Tools holy grail imo. Also Rosetta Stoned.
Pushit is my favorite song, but “The Grudge” transcends all music in an 8 minute track. Honestly, hell, all of their stuff is transcendent!
Dude I've said it before but I totally agree. The Grudge please...
The Salival version of Pushit is where he should go next. He's already done a react to the original version and I think the Salival version will break his brain. In a good way!

Why don’t people understand that Maynard is a literal genius.

We do! Lol
People are too jaded and stuck in their own perceptions to take it in. Like me when I first listened to Fear Innoculum, I was too unwilling to accept change. When I opened myself up though I started to understand that it really is a masterpiece.
janemba42 same! I really struggled with Fear Inoculum but every time I listen to it I like it more
and he didn't even graduate from fucking high school!!! waaa "rosetta stoned"
The way Maynard says "storm" gives me chills every time. Same as when he says "Consume you" in The Grudge. The guy's voice is magical
The "HOLD ON BRO" part at 4:32 is everything

Yep Devo H. Keenan...his middle name is just H. He got it from how people say Jesus H. Christ but never know what the H. stands for
H is 8 is occult number of karma. Yes hes experiencing karma from his past in trying to build a future.

"It makes you feel what they feel". Been my favourite band for 15 years and that sums them up perfectly haha. Never thought of it that way.
Nice! Love seeing you dig Tool. Hit some more Perfect Circle, three libras is awesome.
Yeah, 3 Libras should definitely be his next APC song.
Airiak Drakkhen I suggested this one too! One of my favorite perfect circle songs easily
Yes
P.s. Try not too record Tool when you see them LIVE.....just go there to enjoy them otherwise you won’t get that outer body experience.
Olly Hudson agreed. Focus on the experience, turn your phone off, soak it all in. After the show, gather your thoughts, and then you can share them with us! We’ll be here waiting.
Maynard also hates seeing people record with their phones lol
"outer body experience" lmao
Maynard's the Chosenone☝
Ask him.
They dont even allow phones at their concerts
This is my favorite Tool song and that quiet guitar part you kept rewinding is my single favorite moment in any Tool song. It really is beautiful.
Type O Negative - Wolf Moon
Type O definately it is October after all! Perfect for the season.
Your Tool final shall be 'Third Eye'. I suggest listening to it in the dark.
In my mythos, the patient patient in 'The Patient' pantientce pays off and 'Third Eye' is the treatment. Infinity lies beyond. Third Eye is the beginning and end.
Man it never gets old seeing the way Tool moves you!! In my humble opinion, Tool is our generation’s Pink Floyd.
TOOL is timeless, ive been listening to them for many years and still has the same effect on me, every song is a journey.
Deftones My Own Summer
Dog Eat Dog - Who’s The King
Dog Eat Dog - Step Right In
Tool: Disposition/Reflection/Triad
Three songs that go together in that order, and it's sublime
This is the first Tool song I ever heard when I was a kid and I remember just being like “Whoa what IS this??” There’s *something* about this band-Their music somehow sounds ethereal, sad, sexy, angry and chill all at the same time. Then add to it the singer’s phrasing is so unique (not to mention his haunting voice) and the guitarist and drummer have this strange off-beat timing going on and it just fucks up all my senses. I forgot how much I love this band!
The Grudge!!! I can already hear the Multiple HOLD ON BRUUUUUUHHHHHHHS!!
He has heard it...I watched him be blown away by it..was cool
Tool forty six & 2 lyrics vid top of search
I've been to countless concerts and TOOL by FAR puts on the best live show - the visual effects are mind blowing, and Maynard is so intense. Definitely the greatest performance I've ever witnessed, hands down!
The part you loved...the "pretty part"....yes it's amazing how they are so detailed in this melody. It gave me chills the first time I heard it! Preston, I absolutely adore your Tool Reaction videos!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
It is time for...”The Grudge.”
You need to check out Clutch!!!!
Burning Beard or Let a Poor Man Be. You will love them!
Gotta start with early CLUTCH. Binge and purge is a must. But can't go wrong with any CLUTCH
I third that
Tool is one of the greatest bands EVER. I did listen in high school 😁 never gets old
It's so awesome to watch someone who appreciates great music experience Tool for the first time. I've seen them several times live and the Aenima tour was super special. IMO, they were at their pinnacle of creativity (subjective, yes). It surely was surreal growing up in the 90s as a rock fan and musician.
Yeah man, you have to review the Grudge. And ticks and leeches
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun!
Nicholas Putt not this one, man. Come on... so many great SG songs that show their talents, complexities, and power vocal range, far and away over this one.
Rather Spoonman or Outshine :)
Love it. Its awesome to see you hearing this great music and keeping it alive
I'm 42 and been a fan since 93' 7ooL gives me goosebumps still.
