Been watching your newer videos and now catching up on your older ones. Watching them all really got me stoked enough to get my out kayak. I’m out in Santa Monica getting as much experience so that by spring I can hit up La Jolla. Keep up the vids they’re gold and always a great watch
VERY nice video and fish! Thanks for the video keep it up. I MISS MY KAYAK FISHING DAYS ON THE central coast of California off Big Sur. Those were great adventures. Some of my best days fishing ever for sure!
Hi Chris, I noticed your other pole had a metal jig. I read all comments and replies below but didn't have luck finding the answer to what you were using on your pole that you caught the yellow tail and tuna with. Did you use live bait or jigs, or dead bait or plastics? If I had to guess, it was LIVE bait? Let me know, thanks.
when your flylining your mackeral, do you just hook it through the bottom jaw out the nose? how far are you getting it from your kayak, how fast do you go, and how far down do you think the mackeral goes? Its just a hook or do you do a circle hook?
That was awesome man. Im moving to California here in a few months. I currently kayak fish the Florida gulf coast. The only Tuna we can get within kayak range are the blackfins. We do get some other nice stuff though such as sailfish and mahi. Is this a common catch over there or just a lucky day on the water? Im trying to watch as much stuff as possible because the fisheries look completely different. I feel like im going to have to re learn a lot of stuff.
Nice fishin', great job on 2 strong fish. I know you probably hate "Safety Sam" types, take this for what it's worth.... if your yak tips over and you are wearing bibs with no PFD, you are going for a visit with King Poseidon.... it would not be a good way to go.
@@chrisblevinsfishing: Waders, sea boots, foulies... they all sink... when they fill with water, they hinder your movement making it very difficult to swim or tread water... thus you go under. It's not the weight of the water, it's the weight and hindrance of the worn-gear. I was very nearly a victim, and I have mad swim skills.
@@billderinbaja3883 Apparently not. I'm a 135lb woman & have no problem swimming in heavy gear. I've done it in full battle rattle which is about 45lbs of military equipment + boots.

Sic vid man. Nice fish. How long did it take to paddle out that far?
@@chrisblevinsfishing You're a beast. 5 hour commute by kayak to get to the blue water.
How long does it take you to paddle 8 miles? How did you know where to head?
I would say probably 2 hours or so.

+Chris Blevins damn! I was slightly upset about moving there until I saw this video. Yellowtails look fun as hell. Are the seabass pretty fun?
How long does it take to paddle out 8 miles and do you typically keep it closer than that or do you always trek that far?
Chris Blevins thanks for the reply keep up the great content!

Molly 8 miles back to land? Lol
Looked pretty calm out there. Where exactly were you at?
La Jolla is a great place to fish for yellow tail. I'm sure some of the viewers wished it was 8 miles off the coast of Long Beach here in SoCal.
