supercooled Lol I'm American... Anyway, it's the pronunciation. He asked why it's not called "lie-ver pool" if the building is called the "lie-ver" building, and not the liver building.
It was a superb performance, including routing well for the camera crew. I will add that some calling it parkour and others freerunning is understandable as the lads in question were a parkourist and a free-runner; both styles were on full display. (The wiki on Parkour goes into the variation involved)
TheGard3nGn0me We had Peugeot, Renault (pronounced Ren-ALT' back then), and even Citroen back in the 1960's and early '70's. If there were some others, they were even a smaller market share than these 3 had and I was unaware of them at the time. I don't recall any French cars since the mid 1980's or so, when Chrysler was selling a rebadged Renault sedan which won COTY, but was an awful car, it turned out. (Note: old guy here relying on memory.
TheCookiemonster1822 Most Peugeot models were Diesel. We had a 504 made in 1981. It was a great car and was cheaper to drive than gas cars at the time. The government then began to raise the taxes on diesel for environmental reasons and then made the import tarrifs so high for diesel cars that even Mercedes didn't import them anymore. They also did not fit the american aesthetic of the time of large Detroit steel cars, not to mention the old ones were loud and stunk to high heaven. There is not a slow trickle of diesel cars coming back into the US. There are many who have liked the more efficient diesels they have seen in Europe and want them here but this is being opposed by the US auto and petroleum and ethanol industries. I believe volkswagen and others are gradually starting to build them in their American plants.
FELON730 I agree but when I saw the comment i laughed so hard, maybe im an idiot but if I was insulted over the internet I wouldnt give a shit just because a stupid titty boy on the internet has nothing to do with his time.
James had a rematch of sorts a couple of series later with some guys on BMX bikes, and he was driving a Fiat that also had a diesel engine. I always wondered why did he give himself that handicap of that engine type where a gasoline engine could have given him the edge he needed to get up to speed?
There was one cam car and one mechanical car. An interesting thing to notice about the Polar Special, was that a lot was actually shot with small handhelds from May and Jezza + cemeras mounted on the cars. See the outtakes. It's one of the least scripted TG's ever.
this old peugeot 207 costed 10000 euros , or 7000 pounds or 12500 dollars .NOW we have the new peugeot 208 with a GTI serie 200 horses power ! the first price is always 10000 euros .
@@melvinmajor Its a bit on the heavy side But it's very safe tho I did 180kmh which is its top speed for the 1.4 VTI and have 205/45 17" and the car is solid and very safe Speed wise I think it's plenty fast already tbh bit heavy yeah but it's well balanced
Well technically, this wasn't parkour. It was free running. Parkour doesn't advocate unnecessary tricks. It's the art of displacement, so no nonsense. Just getting there in the straightest way possible.
Hey derren Brown. How would you know what Jesus would like? Sounds to me you're trying to make everyone bend to the will of "almighty" Jesus. Now I don't know him so I can't say for sure but I think crap like that is what he hates
I was DYING when he asked the guy "Why isn't it called LIVERpool then?" and his response "well ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh" looooooooooooooooooooooool
I think he's from the land of : I don't know.
me, too :-D
I'm not british so I don't know the joke. Yes I'm aware there is a "place" called Liverpool, but ok.... what else?

IT'S A "LIE!"
For anyone interested the song at 00:46 is called "Sordid" by Amon Tobin.
To be honest I am not a big fan of Parkour BUT respect to these guys. Great job!

James: Oh, for Pete sake!
Peugeot Vs. assassin's creed
trash vs garbage
I wouldn't trade in my 2001 206 GTi for this...
But still, it's an underrated car.
I get alot of fun out of my 207 Petrol
Haven't had Peugeot in the US for decades.
Have you had any French car in the US for ages?

TheCookiemonster1822 Because it's a dreary Car with cheap made Interior. Oh wait, it would fit perfectly into the US Market then :P

Capton Slow living up to his name!!!!!!!!!
This is old but still nice.

Bartacus95 Now why do you have to insult his mom?? What did he or his mom do to you??? Keyboard warriors everywhere!!!!

FELON730
I'm not sure this was an insult.
behemoth666123
It was not an insult to me.

Would suck to lose your house keys doing that Parkour
Can't have a car without an ip-odd connection now can we?
Don't forget your job-job-a oil.
Indeed
I come from Liverpool and I still remember it looking like that. Even the bridge the free runners went over isn't there any more.
I've just noticed that they ran out of the shopping centre and went back on themselves just to stop by Subway over the road.
Yes, I remember this, very old but see the look of content on the old duck's face at 3:49 =)
Mr. James May sounded abit like Richard Hammond. "COME ON!"
James had a rematch of sorts a couple of series later with some guys on BMX bikes, and he was driving a Fiat that also had a diesel engine. I always wondered why did he give himself that handicap of that engine type where a gasoline engine could have given him the edge he needed to get up to speed?
The guys from Top Gear UK, since they love Le Mans, they should travel to Florida for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. It would be cool.
isn't this video like 50 years old now?
Then my car is 50 years now
It so old i cant even remember this episode :D
Its new to me :P
l3g3nd1337 2006, this episode is about 8 years ago
Obviously this is not staged. There was really around 100 cameras on the roofs for each cut.
Why is it obvious? A lot of segments on Top Gear are staged.
There was one cam car and one mechanical car. An interesting thing to notice about the Polar Special, was that a lot was actually shot with small handhelds from May and Jezza + cemeras mounted on the cars. See the outtakes. It's one of the least scripted TG's ever.
"Hey we're gonna take this path, so put your cameras there"
It's a TV show, did you think they were going to leave their cameras at home?
that's called editing sir.
@@casscroute8706thanks for letting me know 9 years later
Wow this episode is from TEN years ago

Ain't somebody doing some massive showoff on the roof...
Episode?
Like the people that don't even know that the parkour free runner guys were jumping over people it's so funny haha like it
where is the FISH AND CHIPS car? or the fhismobil?
If this was a real race the Free-Runners wouldn't have taken the escalators up to the second floor of the Met-Quarter just to jump off it.
The pug 207 is a lovely car
Assasin's Creed: Top Gear Edition.
so even worse version of top gear but old
Nice video but the 1.6 S (not the diesel one), the Feline (oldly named Sporty Pack) has the motoring of BMW-Mini :P (I can prove it with my 207 :) )
I have a 1.4 VTI
Uses the BMW mini engine too
Much faster than the diesels
@@BavarianM the only downside is the weight of the car... Really too much for this type
@@melvinmajor Its a bit on the heavy side

Isn't that James May Junior?
Nice dawg njoooooo
There is a 1.6 THP and i think a 2.0
James May u thought u won...but u didn't

Not an air freshened
Ofcourse it's a "French Invention"...running away and stuff.
oh yea because they had 50 cameramen... not a real race. clearly. i dont really like the newer seasons...
They told them the route in advance. So they set the cameras up like that...
That way he pronounced iPod lol. epod

Mirror's Edge ftw ^^
I want to be a parkour free runner too
Did you become one?
Wow is crazy
So staged my eyes bled.

Well technically, this wasn't parkour. It was free running. Parkour doesn't advocate unnecessary tricks. It's the art of displacement, so no nonsense. Just getting there in the straightest way possible.
Lol no, just addressing a technicality. I am Indian after all! Woohoo, tech support.

Dem parkour jumps doe
Hdi engines 2013+ are faster

Parkour people are weird.
Those kids knees, ankles, and backs will be killing them in under 10 years, and neither of them will be able to run anymore...
I would like to say that 207 DOES NOT cost £50,000. Dunno where James gets these figures from.
right this old peugeot 207 costed for the first price 10000 euros , 7000 pounds . may be 12500 or 13000 dollars .
he said £15,000
