    Well, as Jeremy explained, it's quintessentially British; it would not pay any credence to the concept of sunshine.

    • @hileutewie
      @hileutewie 3 роки тому +53

      @@alhouser4010 RR still has the most expensive production car in their lineup and none of the cars are worth the asking price. Then again, the people who buy RRs will probably never know that a Toyota Camry has the majority of the features in the base model at a significantly cheaper price point. Heck, even similarly luxury cars of the likes of the S-Class offer almost as much as RR, but cost significantly less. You pay for the prestige and the exclusivity at that price point, not solely for the premium quality of the car.

    *In 2020 The Rolls Royce Reg DBD 999 K is probably still running, whilst the German Göering is long dead. I had a 1972 Silver Shadow from 1978-1982 Reg 45 K (Silver with Black Roof) - but sold it for **_probably the best car in the World_** at the time - a Mercedes 280 SE. Family, Safety, Economy (£1 a Gallon then 22p per Litre for Millennials) Towing Ability etc. I would bet that 45K is still being used today as a Wedding Car or in a Museum. - Anyone who knows it's whereabouts be pleased to hear.*

    Having driven and owned both a 6.3 and the RR I can say they are both fantastic vehicles. However they are both extremely complex and must be well maintained. Neither car was ever meant to last for 50 years but of course mad enthusiasts rebuild and rebuild and so they can and do last. The Mercedes has some clever engineering and generally bearings and seals or replacing rubber perishable bits will fix most things. The Rolls has 2 critical service areas that get neglected. 1 is the Castro RR brake fluid which is highly hydroscopic and more corrosive than a bad politician. It must be flushed every two years. The other is engine coolant. Neglect it and you have a dead block. I love my 6.3 to bits. But then I am mad. Cheers all

      @Walter K Bauer Dear Walter it is of course your right to disagree and that's fine. But as much as we might think these cars are wonderful, car companies are out there to sell them. There are only a very small number of people who can buy them and run them. And car companies want to sell as many cars as possible to these people.
      These cars most definitely were never designed to last for ever. In fact about 15 years is all. Indeed without great care they won't last long at all! Why monoquoc construction for one. They rust. Especially cars of this age. The sills and other box sections were never properly treated. The engines are full of dissimilar metals which create corrosion. The rubber degrades the list is endless. Even if you go back in time it's no better. And please do not refer to horrible people from ww2 they are damned for ever and rightly so.

      @Walter K Bauer These types of vehicles are only still on the road because they are rarely driven, carefully maintained, and properly stored. The featured Mercedes and Rolls Royce have been driven less than 5000 miles in the past decade according to MOT records. Not each. Combined mileage.

    Although I happen to own a Mercedes (problem-ridden) I have always dreamt of the beautiful, stately Rolls. It's in a class of its own. No tests needed. Mercedes are complicated and trouble-ridden. This doesn't undermine the very fine mechanics and mechanisms under the hood. The Germans are not cheaters. So it's the Rolls for me. Regards.
