This was an interesting review... I didn't expect for Mark to have a trouble with the color of the Mizuno ST190. It made me wonder if he'd have similar issues with the Titleist TS lin, as they are quite dark as well. So I went back and looked to see if he'd tried them. Turns out James posted a mid-handicap review in November in which he tested 3 drivers: 1) TaylorMade M2 (his driver) 2) Titleist TS2 3) Mizuno ST180! In that Video, He loved the TS2 and directly stated he had no problem with the dark finish of the crown or face on it! It makes me wonder if the the 2 shades of black of the Mizuno are just too close a match for him? In any case, It illustrates so clearly why you have to try clubs more than once, and hopefully get fit for them once you do choose 1 or 2 finalists. I look forward to seeing what Drivers James and Mark move into in 2019. So many contenders!
My buddy has the ST 190, I've been using it the last few rounds and just hammering it. I've never got along with a driver more than the ST 190. Hitting the ball 15 yards further than my current driver, and getting really nice fades every time. The kicker is he got it used from global golf for $190 and it came basically brand new, not a mark on it.
I picked one up yesterday for $115 out the door with a brand new grip. I haven’t taken it out on course yet. If the launch monitor numbers are true, I’ll be hitting the ball at least 10 yards further than my previous driver ( 2015 cobra LTD).
James & Mark So grateful you did this test. Currently use a ST180 and struggle with a fade. However seeing the results i shall now give the ST190 a miss and replace my shaft. Criticism i have with the ST 180 & 190 are Mizuno do not offer a option to change the mass in the weight at rear of club head. Struggle with feeling of club head hence my reference to weight option. Found out via internet in the last week the shaft i was fitted with for the driver is a Tensei orange stiff, this is a counterbalanced shaft which adds to my dilemma..
That was an interesting vid, Mark was clearly struggling to see the face of the ST190 with the lights shining on the glossy crown which affected his commitment to the shots and his alignment. With the matt crown of the ST180 he could see the face and could commit to his shots and lineup the club face. It would be interesting to repeat the test outside (without studio lighting and when the weather permits) to see if he can see the face better and commit to his shots. Overall thanks for an interesting vid.
James I'd be curious to see you do a proper club fitting with Mark. Maybe a shaft change or loft/lie changes would make a difference, or maybe it wouldn't. Great job James!
Another good video lads.....it's good that you recieve all these new drivers to show....18 months ago mark got fitted for his m2 and now a mizuno st180 18 months later gains him 6yards....wots it gonna be in another 18 months for mark ?? And then there's the cost factor.......
I got fitted for the ST180...was the best specs of all the 2018 drivers for me. I thought tge Ping G400 max was going to be the 1 for me but surprisingly the Mizuno beat it by approx 10 meters everytime....i love the sound and feel now
"Boxing head covers" are so much easier to put on when you're in a hurry to get to the next shot (versus sock head covers). And, they look much better!
I just replaced my old 2016 M2 with a GT180 (the adjustable version of the ST180). First driver I can hit a high draw with (when set up accordingly). Love the look, too. Have always been a fan of dark blue. Together with the black face and subtle white decoration I think it looks fantastic. Also appreciated saving some money now that the new model came out which wasn't my taste anyway - I think all black is boring, but that certainly is just my opinion.
change the shaft in his M2 as others say its a low spin driver , so fit it to him now . then redo head to head , or just put a blue Tensei shaft in the M2 so all three have the same shaft . :)
I may be over analysing things here but on the cobra one length testing mark was getting just under 200yrds with the 5 iron which he wasn't hitting as well as he could have based on the 7 iron numbers. He is hitting this driver only 35yrds further than the cobra 5 iron. Something doesn't add up.
Generally mid handicap golfers will always hit something with more loft better than without. When we tested the M6 with mark he got one out there at 270.... which comes down to consistency. Which is why he’s a mid handicapper :) loo
Hi James and Mark really enjoy your vlogs. I do think that it usually takes most people a little time (days or weeks) to get really used to something new. This is probably the same when we change a driver or irons and this “familiarisation” process is maybe best helped by choosing the club that inspires most confidence as much as the one that gives the best numbers. What’s your thoughts on this. 😃
When comparing performance should more emphasis not be placed on average club speed and smash factor, rather than simply looking at spin? When hitting drives back to back like this surely there’s a curve that starts low until warmed up then peaks and begins to drop when fatigue starts to set in. Need to make sure you’re making a consistent swing for an accurate comparison. Just my opinion... 👍🏻
Just a bit of constructive criticism, when showing the numbers I would just put the camera down and point out the numbers. your probably making some of your viewers sea sick with the moving close and back up and down.
Mark seemed not to get on with the Mizuno. Huge dispersion problem. Seems odd. Most people are getting more out of this club. Not sure if he had an off day or if the shaft didn’t suit him. Needs to get fitted.
Get an actual fixing, the club heads have completely different launch characteristics, you can't throw the same shaft in them and expect the same results....
This test proves that the first driver he warmed up with performed worst. Hmmmmmmmm This is the way club fitters sell clubs by making you warm up with your stuff first and comparing figures with the new stuff when you are warm.
Another great review from Mark and I would definitely like to see a head to head with the ST190 vs ST190G

Love the red pants Mark, were you wearing your old Beatle boots ?

I'd like to see Mark hit the Cobra F9... it seems to be the club that's producing better numbers
James I'd be curious to see you do a proper club fitting with Mark. Maybe a shaft change or loft/lie changes would make a difference, or maybe it wouldn't. Great job James!
As usual us left handed golfers only get half the choices
Good review and test 👍

Head to Head Cobra F9 vs Mizuno ST190, Great Videos!

Love to see him test Cobra F9
pro trick : you can watch series on Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Russell Keith Yea, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself =)
@Russell Keith yea, I've been using flixzone} for months myself :D
Enjoyed video! Curious. Would like to see Mark hit 190g to see if any difference after optimizing weights. Good stuff!
Yes please compare the ST190 and the G. Great content guys!
I think Mark was trying to swing too hard with the ST190, he seemed more relaxed with the other two clubs.
I loved the 3w I tried the other week, want to see numbers though, but st190 3w was unreal for me!
i moved to the st180 from the epic and i tried the new drivers nothing can beat it so much confidance with it
I feel so much better having bought the ST180 last month at a substantial discount. If the ST190 had trounced the ST180 I would be kicking myself.
change the shaft in his M2 as others say its a low spin driver , so fit it to him now . then redo head to head , or just put a blue Tensei shaft in the M2 so all three have the same shaft . :)
Wait, two weeks in the Caribbean and he’s rusty? Priorities mate!
ok James 2 things that have to go.....giving out about boxing glove headcovers and those red trousers 😂😂😂

That’s so true unfortunately

Definitely would like to see Mark hit the F9!!
Hope I can play the Cobra F9 soon, will also need to try the G410 👍 then draw some conclusions.......
I also game the M2... I haven't tried the cobra f9 yet... Marks numbers are just like mine so I'd like to see if it's a better club for him
TM M2 is a quality driver. Id be interested to see numbers with a more accurate fit. Spin on M2 is way too high.
First already know the vids gonna be great

You really dislike those Boxing Glove headcovers....
I still game a jpx 900 Mizuno driver
Hi James, have you ever mentioned what Mark‘s (mid) handicap is? I live in Germany where Handicaps start at 54, making mid low 20s
I play off 13.2 👍
Should I get a new st180?
Just a bit of constructive criticism, when showing the numbers I would just put the camera down and point out the numbers. your probably making some of your viewers sea sick with the moving close and back up and down.
Cheers Steve noted :)
Let him try the Cobra F9 or the g410.
The 180 needs to find its way into Marks bag!
Mark seemed not to get on with the Mizuno. Huge dispersion problem. Seems odd. Most people are getting more out of this club.
Not sure if he had an off day or if the shaft didn’t suit him.
Needs to get fitted.
Yes go for it do both drivers
Have the lights gone in Marks house. Getting dressed in the dark? 😉
Have you tested the new cobra driver yet or have i missed it
Soon Colin :)
st180 for me
The red strides are back👀🤣🤣🤣🤣
He probably shouldn’t be using a stiff shaft
Let's have a 9 holes corse competition between you two, pick any clubs you like winner takes all for a lol
👍🙉🙊🙈🐒😈🤔😇
2.13 blue m2 or black 😲 I prefer the blue and the price drop on the st 180 is decent!!!
interesting! presentation of the numbers is terrrible, causes me headaches!

Get him in some golf shoes! His feet are probably moving all over the place. Looks like my old music teachers shoes.
