Just picked up the ST190 at the golf show. Tried a few of the newest drivers out and the Mizuno ST checked all the boxes for me. Can't wait for the season to begin in Michigan.
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Emiliano Maddox i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Seen tests where they also do a fitting and the Mizuno is as fast as the new Cobra that seems to be topping the speed charts atm. Spin doesn't seem to be a issue when properly fitted incl shafts. The TXG lads have a nice test as well.
Love these videos at Torquay!! Just relaxed views and no hidden agenda. Does your TS give you the 1900 spin mark ? Please keep these videos coming great viewing 👍 Don’t freeze lockey out on driver fittings Now , don’t be frightened 😉😆
I tried the 180 last year and the only way to get it up was put it on 11.5deg and use about the softest shaft available. Then I could hit drives about 12 feet off the ground. I couldn't game it as it was too loud and set off my tinitus! Best spin rate I could get was about 1750. Hope the 190 is better in all aspects or I have to stick with my stiff shaft EZ 2016 which spins too much. But at least I can hit it over blocks of flats if I need to.
Would love Mark to do a video on how often we actually get breakthrough technology with the driver. In the last 30/40 yrs when has there been a leap forward. It’s clear that over a 5yr period there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference.
Interesting to see you do the quick little retest Mark. You do have a soft spot for Mizuno don't you. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for the 180. I liked the blue.
Great review as usual lads. I'm a Mizuno iron fan (MP-18 SC) however if even Mr "Robot Tester" Crossfield can't get his 262 average it confirms my experience. Just don't get the yardage from Mizuno drivers and now I'm 50+ can't afford to give away those extra yadas. Sticking with my Epic (and a Lockey flick).
Both look good but I only got a new driver last year (Ping G400) so won't be testing new drivers any time soon. Though I will be upgrading irons this year, and Mizunos are definitely in the mix there (I like the look of the JPX 919 forged). To your last point, it's always player variation vs equipment variation I guess. That's why I like watching you, Dan, etc test these clubs, because your player variation is (way) lower than say mine, which gives you a better chance of seeing the reaal effect of the equipment. I go out testing on a "good" day, I might think a new driver gives me 20 more yards but in reality it's just me.
I tested them both 2 weeks ago... I did like them. Actually, my opinion is similar to Dan's. Even though I am in the market for a new driver, I don't think I will put it in my bag. Anyway, I have a second round of testing coming up.
I'd be interested to see a shaft test / video talking about stock shafts vs "tour" shafts (knowing and understanding all the shaft videos you have done in the past). Dan mentioned "lots of boy's playing these", but that isn't true. All the guys on tour are playing Tensei "Pro" shafts, or Project X "Handcrafted", Tour AD, etc. They market the stock shafts as the same, but my understanding is that they have completely different make ups, materials, and price points in some cases $400 more...wonder if there is a performance difference as well? Must have been a difference for you and Locks to put a Tour AD in your Rinky Dinks?
Interesting results. Surprising even with the Man Flu issues. Dan was down in speed too. Odd! Blame the weather! Also, perhaps the power was in the blue?!
An interesting video Mark. Sleep, food, sex, alcohol, man flu, playing partners and state of mind all influence results. Perhaps you could do a series on this !
I love that he is more focused on distance and "max" performance than accuracy. He was stripping each one of these drives! He even got excited about how accurate it was on the line, ha! But he's so focused on the distance and speed numbers? I have distance, what I need is accuracy. This club is accurate, and it's so easy to hit. This is seriously a sleeper driver.
I bought this with the smoke yellow hoping it works out for me even to this day the ping g20 has been my favorite driver that and the g15 for some reason they are perfect for my swing. But i went with the st190 because of its similarness to shape of other drivers, sound and the fade bias. When i get after the shot i tend to turn over too quickly causing a very high large draw. When i hit it slightly drawn or straighter im looking at 315-320 carry on average.
I can see it now in board meetings in all golf manufacturers to come up with a really exciting "word"then fit that in to there new clubs(driver),seems there really scratching for an edge as they have all peeked, but they do look lovely 😀
I have a JPX 850 & it's really BLUE, I love the look of it, but it's not my gamer. The driver performs well but it's too loud the sound is off putting . I love the blue, I think Mark is correct, Mizuno are going for a safer colour in black hoping it relates to more sales. They could have done the driver in 2 colours, blue & black giving the Mizuno purest 2 colour options. I am sorry to hear that you are suffering with Man Flu, it's a terrible affliction,
A week later you retested because you felt better and the flu was better/gone. But a week later was Dan down with the flu you ( maybe ) gave him. I have acquaintances I would give the flu, and friends I would never give the flu. ( Sarcasm ) people. Mark and Dan, good video post, thanks.
Very interesting!! your swing looked the same to me, fit/unfit!! it just goes to show that we all vary most days as do the pro's! I love the blue head of my ST180 and certainly prefer the look of the blue over the black, but then again i prefer to wear blue clothing , and prefer blue cars over black cars. I cant help but think that its marketing led rather than a populist preference, if i hit the new ST190 loads longer that would be a different matter, but somehow i doubt it. I also reckon that the glossy head of the 190 is not as attractive as the matt finish on the new TM M5/M6, and would reflect more on sunny days. I most certainly have not received adverse comments on the sound, it has changed with various shafts, but its a lot quieter than my mates Callaway Epic driver.
Disappointed the ST190G isn't in left hand as I was looking forward to trying it, I currently game the JPX900 which I find I'm spinning is too high and loosing distance guess I'll keep looking
Hey guys. How come you both have swings to die for, particularly Dan, pro players, but only driving 250 - 280 depending on what driver you’re reviewing. The geezer on NCG James Savage is driving 269 win the Cobra and TS2 playing off 15? Love the vids.
Not just temperature but quality of ball, I despise practicing at the range because I have no trust in the range balls. My driver goes about 263 (ha! - ok carry is around 240) but at my local range I often see the ball fall out of the air at 225 (if it doesn't hook/slice from some blemish) and the range tilts upward so I'm sure that has an effect as well). Every once and awhile you get a real ball in the bucket and immediately the flight looks different, especially the end flight as the ball floats more to the ground rather than reach terminal velocity while falling from the sky.
I think a club manufacturer should do what MINI cars did when they rejuvenated the brand a few years ago, and has since been copied by a couple of rival car makers such as Opel/ Vauxhall Adam and Citroen DS3. You said the loft doesn’t move as much as the last model. If the loft can move up 2 or down 2, that’s 7.5 to 11.5 of adjustability? I fail to see how it’s less than the last model? It’s the same! I don’t like when you tell thousands of viewers basic information that’s clearly just plain wrong! Come on bruh. Outside of that, another great review as always.
I liked the Mizuno blue better, that carbon crown lacks originality. TXG guys tested it, and it hold pretty well against the Ping G400, the guy carries it 300 yard+...
Seems all reviews on this have last year's model better for distance. Basically they have released a driver that doesn't perform any better but just trying to help people pick them by going with the black imo
Not everyone's experience Stefon. A bit unfortunate that it's 2 of the biggest known testers with that result. Have a look at Michael Newton, TXG and AskGolfNut - who all hit this one further.
@@mizunogolf1906 thanks for the reply. I have watched both jays and txg video. Jay increased a few yards and did seem to love it. I'm waiting on seeing txgs compare video of 180 and 190.
@@mizunogolf1906 also I think when your a pro (consistent hitter) most drivers are not going to have that huge impact of a massive gain because they are all nearly at the legal limit. I myself prefer the 190 in black compared to the blue but until I saw a driver gain me an extra 20 yards, I wouldn't pay another £3-500 for 10 yards. Maybe more tests need to be done with the average golfer (the people actually buying the club) where they have a proper fitting and actually improve quite a lot. Just a thought.
When will Dan stay up? Dan learned how to get up, but seems like he's never using it. Mizuno puts out a good product, they need a little more marketing, and fitting events.
Luke Donald may well be using this driver for the reasons you.... Hinted.... At 👍 But for the 1st time I can ever remember hearing about None Staffers are using one of their drivers... Mizuno users (or in this case me. Lol) preferred the blue. Although I have no problem with black it just doesn't stand out. I still own the jpx 850 range just because they look so good... They aren't in my bag but I just want to keep them in my spare bag for their look haha.
Why do you say you can't use these because the spin is too high etc, you are taking a club off the shelf that is not fit to you. Grab a stock Titliest TS driver and I bet it does not go as far as your customer fit TS.....
Time to hang up these club reviews bra they literally mean nothing to know body anymore! Watched the txg fitting review straight after this they fit the club correctly get the carry to around 330 and spins under and around 2000 so to quote you they actually are EXCITING clubs just maybe not in the hands of you! These reviews in my opinion have just crossed a line into shear arrogance and I dunno how you’d think anyone would take anything away from them. 👍🏻
I think this driver offers more forgiveness across the face. I think those with very high swing speeds (>115-120mph) are finding it a very accurate club. ua-cam.com/video/E7rqV6ZD518/v-deo.html It’s a lovely sounding driver, love the look. You really need to get fitted properly for this driver.
Run my bird that’s a good looking club with that Batman kind of colors... but Mark, you know the color makes the club go 5 mph faster. 😉😂🤣😂😋. Come on bruh!!! Maybe you can call Voschall to see the difference in driver designs...
I appreciate going black but they could have used the blue in the graphics and even in the face grooves would have looked cool. Not the first review to be disappointed with the performance. However, I think it looks a great driver for average golfers and not for those with faster swing speeds and lower handicaps - like you guys need. Get an average golfer in and I think they'll love it.
@@mizunogolf1906 sorry yes, it was James Robinson's mid-handicapper review were the 180 was considerably longer than the 190. As most people buying will be of that ilk I'd say that's a bit worrying.
@@jamesharrison5004 Was the same player who didn't like the ST180 when he tested it 6 months ago. Has pretty random preferences and performance. Have a look at the super thorough guys like Michael Newton, Ask Golf Nut and TXG. More importantly - try it yourself and let us know what you think.
Just picked up the ST190 at the golf show. Tried a few of the newest drivers out and the Mizuno ST checked all the boxes for me. Can't wait for the season to begin in Michigan.

Coming back to do it again is proper Mark!!! Thanks
Does everyone else get Mitsubishi car ads on Mark Crossfield vlogs? Just curious.
These Mizuno drivers look lovely, enjoyed the review. Thank you.
Glad to see you revisited the driver on another day. Love the look, going to have a swing with it soon hopefully.

Good balanced review and liking them in black - might be worth a test drive me thinks. Keep up the great work dynamic duo!
You should always start the tests you do with 5 shots of your regular driver to see how you are performing on the day
In theory the first drives are performed cold making the next next warm and potentially not comparable.
ST90, had a laugh when you said that Mark. Then when you said ST960G I nearly wet myself, just read the bottom Mark xD
Think I'll wait until they go back to blue ones. Mark hit the blue JPX900 around 260 a couple of years ago so the colour definitely makes it longer!

Give the ST190 (non G) a go before you make a final decision. Spins less than the JPX900. Had a couple of the non G in play on tour.
I will differently try it before making my mind up and do a comparison of the new low spin drivers available thanks
Paul I'm a lefty as well, with similar feeling about the ST190 G. You will find that the ST190 is really improved and lower spin than the 900.
Love the blue on my JPX 900 3 wood. Also love the club in general.
Agreed. Longest 3 wood I've ever hit

It’s a lovely sounding driver, love the look.
You really need to get fitted properly for this driver.
Dan is defo the james may of the group.!😌
They do make some sexy clubs!
LOL, if this was a Titleist review Dans very first shot would have been edited out hahaha
All club manufacturers now hoping Mark gets his leg over the night before he tests their driver.
Rick shields where your burner account
joking apart 190 st totaly beautifull
Run my bird that’s a good looking club with that Batman kind of colors... but Mark, you know the color makes the club go 5 mph faster. 😉😂🤣😂😋. Come on bruh!!! Maybe you can call Voschall to see the difference in driver designs...
If mark gets it out to 265 I’m making a purchase.
Haha
Mark Crossfield looks like the mrs will be happy tho after watching ☹️
The black is safer for sales, and that’s the only reason they make clubs, is to sell them.
30 sec into video, title should have been "Black vs Blue which is better for you"
I appreciate going black but they could have used the blue in the graphics and even in the face grooves would have looked cool. Not the first review to be disappointed with the performance. However, I think it looks a great driver for average golfers and not for those with faster swing speeds and lower handicaps - like you guys need. Get an average golfer in and I think they'll love it.
We've had most of our best tests with faster swing speeds. Have a look at the TXG and Michael Newton reviews as well.
@@mizunogolf1906 Michael said the older 180 went further if I remember correctly.
@@jamesharrison5004 Pretty sure he hit the ST190 a good deal further.
Ruuning Bird = RoadRunner, BEEP! BEEP! ;-)
I can't take this video seriously since the driving God didn't do the review. 😂😂😂
