I don't think this is a particularly fair review given Rob's clear bias against TM and he already wanted to hate this driver before he even swung it. What you don't understand with release cycles is that you don't have to buy the product. Too many people trying to buy a game (and to be fair these guys in the video don't help) - spend your money on lessons. Get better then treat yourself to an upgrade when you hit you improvement targets. Exactly what I did, I set myself a target of getting to a single digit cap using my then current equipment (all over 5 years old - irons close to 15 years old) took a few lessons - got my cap to single digits and treated myself to some new irons.
Thank you Mr. Potter for your brutal honesty. There is nothing more frustrating than buying new clubs and 3 months later there supposedly obsolete! Thank you for that. Keep up the great content.
Totally agree with Rob's comments regarding the marketing of golf clubs. Aesthetics however, is a matter of opinion and we all have plenty of those, but the ever increasing number of new releases is ridiculous, as are the prices. That being said, it does give us the opportunity to wait a while and get "last year's world beating model" at reduced prices....if we can wait. Because it is up to us golfers to be sensible enough make that choice. A review of manufacturer's "old" (3 years?) versions against the most up-to-date clubs would be interesting.
+Robert Potter You deserve every opportunity Rick has presented to you, you sound like one of the most genuine guys, and that's from just watching you on videos! Get that handicap down!
First off , I must say, typically I enjoy Robs reviews, but I'm a bit undecided on this one. It's no secrete Rob does not care for adjustability, as he through the Callaway GBB under the bus for the slide, and has commented on how " it's just to confusing" in regard to other adjustable drivers. Oh and of course the White Head thing.....which had him as giddy as a school girl when he caught one with grunt and popped the ball out there 271 with the Aeroburner. I think Rick will agree, if your going to test a golf clubs performance in a public forum, for your test to have any validity, you will certainly need to check your bias at the door. It is very apparent that Robs heart was not in this test. His swing speed never went north of 88MPH and we all know he has more in the tank than that. Also, In regard to the price tag of some of the new drivers on the market today. Doesn't the whole argument stem from affordability. It's all a matter of choice. All manufactures are going to have an upper tier product, and in most cases that product is going to have the latest technology. So what's the cost of technology??? If you want to keep up with the jones with anything, you either pay the price or settle for something else. There are many different levels of product on the market and all the manufactures offer different price points for these products. Did anyone give Taylormade Kudos for offering a driver with Multi-material tech at a more affordable price point with the M2? Think about it.P.S. I don't own a M1 Driver......but the only 300 yard drive I ever hit in my life was with a M1 driver. Technology?
Spot on Rob...I'm slightly annoyed at Ping, as I bought the G30 in September then a couple of months later the bring out the G range! I know there's not much difference but still feel like I'm using a less superior version.
+James Harvey Max is right... that club is old... It's like saying how I'm upset I just bought the AP 714s and now damn titlest two years later release the AP716s!
i went from a Titleist 913 D3 that was in my bag for nearly 4 years to the new TAYLOR MADE M1 460 model a few months ago, in that four years there were many drivers released into the market and would take my driver and demo it against all the new gear as a very good friend of mine works in one of the largest golf retail chain of stores down here in Australia , each time i went in to buy the odd sand wedge , apparel or just balls would have a hit and so many of the drivers did not improve on the numbers i was getting from my 913 and then the M1 and having had the RBZ 3 wood had no issues with a white head but truthfully I to like Rob was a little put off by the two tone head of the M1 and reason I did not like a Cobra that came ouit a few years ago that I actually hit well, but when my friend fitted the right shaft and the right head , I was amazed at the increase in carry that the M1 had which out on the course was so noticeable by not just me but my regular playing partners , our index number one hole at 390 metres that being close to the ocean is usually played into the wind and was usually hitting a 5 or 6 iron into the green, the last few games with the M1 I've been hitting 7 or 8 irons into the green, it really has added 10 to 20 metres depending on the quality of the strike, i must add that i still like the sound of a well struck shot with my old 913 but i got used to the white and black and its no issue, but again i also agree with Rob in that its got to look right, my mates the same he smashes my M1 past my drives but chose to by the XR 16 pro which he also hits really well.
Rob's rating is really interesting. I think his reviews are a complete different perspective than what you usually hear. I dont always agree with him but I do find what he has to say very refreshing.
I agree with Rob to some extent that manufacturers release clubs too often (but they are there to make money) but it's the choice of the consumer to buy them. I have kept my old irons for 7 years because I love the feel of them, which for me that having something new for the sake of it being new.
Totally agree with Rob, some golf brands are taking the micky out of the average golfer. Personally think Cleveland/Srixon,Titleist and Bridgestone are the best manufacturers for the quality and don't change every 6/12 months. I play with the Bridgestone j715 driver and would highly recommend you trying it Rob and looks awesome. Keep up the good work Rick
Absoloutley love the reviews rob, completely right in what u say about price and with how many drivers different manufacturers bring out, had me in stitches describing the breeze block feel, keep the reviews coming :)
I agree with you Rob, and because of this I have more respect for companies like Titleist, Mizuno and Ping who release new stuff at a reasonable pace and don't shout about it too much. Then we have the likes of Cobra and Nike in-between and the class clowns are TaylorMade and Callaway. We also have brands like Bridgestone and Srixon who don't really shout at all -- an approach that I think is reflected in their market share. To be fair, apart from the M2 debacle I think TaylorMade has calmed down a bit though. In the last 24 months they've released the R15 and M1 as their flagship drivers and the AeroBurner and M2 at a lower price point. In the same period Callaway released something like 12-15 drivers.
No matter what the price is, you don't have to purchase it. Wait 6 months and buy it for pennies on the dollar if the club suits you, no matter who the manufacturer is. The technology in new clubs may be innovative, but the results for amateurs is normally not much better. A fitting by an experienced club-fitter (that can be trusted) is what's needed.
Played the M1 driver as a rental club on Holiday in Meixco. Hit the M1 a long way and thought it had a consitent low ball flight, low spin, and good roll out. Don't mind the look of the white/black contrast head. Its looks much better than the solid white head of the R15, which I did find to be a little distracting. Might buy one of these this year or maybe next. I alos plan to test the M2 as it is signficantly less expensive, but not as adjustable for a fitter.
I tried this driver and I was quite surprised with the unpleasant "klack!" sound. The other reviews with pros hitting had a little higher pitched sound. And the tour pros kept on saying the sound was pleasant. I'm glad that this review confirmed my own impression. I agree with the other posts here though that verbalizing negative feelings about a club greatly affects how you're going to swing it. I don't think it will get a fair chance to perform. I was actually quite surprised with the first result that carried 230 and rolled up to 251 yards. I'm still considering getting this club.
I totally agree with Rob! And i think many pro's and very low handicap agrees too. In the circuit, almost the 90% of TM players switch to M2, and i don't think is a money question at all! I think M1 is amazing, BUT too tricky!
thought I would love the M1 tested it along with Ping G, callaway xr, cobra king and others. I went with the G just a personal choice didn't care for the M1 look or feel just a personal choice. thanks Rick for the great reviews
I agree in the sense that there are certain clubs that are not geared for most amateurs. I'm a 14 handicap and hit my M1 very well, however I don't hit bladed irons or driving irons well at all. There are so many factors involved in a players ability to get the most out of their equipment. Rick does a great job in explaining the importance of swing speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, angle of attack, face to path, etc. Those factors seemed to be the deciding factor in why Rob wasn't able to get proper performance out of the M1. Maybe I'm wrong, but Rob's swing speed seemed a bit off in comparing the M1 to some others that he has reviewed, which is a bit odd. Anyways, I do agree with Rob that "look" is a major selling point for most golfers. For me, I can't stand the look of a mallet putter and refuse to even attempt to use one. As far as the "seeing the white in the backswing" comment is valid and odd, but only the first few of times you use it. In the end, I'm a big Callaway fan with 13 clubs manufactured by them in my bag, however the club I have gained the most performance out of in the past 2 weeks is my new M1. I love Callaway and will continue buying their products. For me though, this is the best driver I have ever used. Thanks to Rob for his brutal honesty and thanks to Rick for not trying to filter him. Agree or disagree I always love these videos.
Boy was this video disappointing. First his clubhead speed was about 8 mph lower than his average which could equate to 25 yards. Second I think it is a really good looking club with the carbon fiber weave. And lastly you cannot complain about the price because there are a lot of other manufactures that have exact same price like the Callaway big Bertha alpha 816, cobra king LTD pro, and the Nike vapor flex 440. And nobody is holding a gun to your head telling you that you have to go out and buy a new club, your old driver doesn't loose any yards if they come out with a new model. you can get great deals on used clubs that are just a year old for more than half the price off.
Great vid lads, really interesting to see how Rob's concious bias impacted his swing and consequent review, testimony to the importance of the "try before you buy" in this sport. Would be interesting to see how he fares with the M2, same aesthetic hang ups for him but would the more forgiving head produce better swing data?
He is right. I was complaining to a buddy about how these companies just pump out the new irons and drivers every year. Mainly Callaway and Taylormade. With that being said i have a Callaway 4 wood and driver. But its seriously a joke the amount of clubs that come out from one single manufacturer ever year. Thats why i like Ping. You get one driver and then 2 or 3 varying types of that same driver.
I'm still using this driver. Honestly it's a bomb machine. Looking back at old reviews because I'm thinking about the SIM driver. Just don't know if its it's worth it when I hit my 2016 M1 great.
I play a callaway XR and love it. That being said..the last two rounds I've played..I've swung my friends M1 twice and LOVED it. Idk what he is seeing...!? I think it looks great at address
Price for M1 in Canada is $599.99. I completely agree with Rob that manufactures come out with way to many clubs that are not significantly better than the one before it.
Rob you need to get on the m2 and show us how it goes. It has been the upset driver in being significantly cheaper yet performing similar if not better to the m1. I tried hitting an m1 when I bought my cobra fly z which ended up being about 300 bucks cheaper than the m1. I like you struggled with the m1. Felt very head heavy and I just couldn't strike it well. I also found by removing half an inch off my Cobra I find the middle of the club so much more often now. Something we all seem to forge about is how critical shaft length can be to enable greater strike. Strike is king at the end of the day and if your stick is too long and you can't find the middle what's the point??
But nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing us to buy the clubs they bring out! There's always a new bottle of wine in the supermarket but we are not all alcoholics. The manufacturers are trying to make money but it's up to you whether you spend your hard earned money on a club or on a car or a holiday.
+Mark Bond The problem is that certain club manufacturers should slow down and make their clubs as good as they can. There's no way a company can spend enough time on R&D and testing to warrant a 6 month release cycle unless they have several independent R&D teams working on the same type of products.
+oskarfahlstrom I'm not a fan of the M1, because I don't like the feel of it, but it is among the best performing drivers on the market. There is only so much they can do with drivers because of limits imposed on them, so a year is plenty of time for them to research and design a product. I don't exactly understand where you are getting the 6 month release cycle from. SLDR 2013-2014 , R15 2014-2015, M1 2015-2016.
+oskarfahlstrom While I find it fun to look at new equipment and listen to reviews I don't particularly care how often manufacturers bring out new kit. If I need to replace something I'll care what is out at the time, after which I'll stop caring again. I do feel Rob gets extra worked up with the Taylormade stuff and I do agree about the sound but for me, the club is about as "dead sexy" as it gets on looks.
+Logan Hart I was referring to Callaway on that remark. TaylorMade has cleaned up their act in the last 2 years or so which I mentioned in a different comment. They are still a bit shouty with their marketing but that's always been their way. "To be fair, apart from the M2 debacle I think TaylorMade has calmed down a bit though. In the last 24 months they've released the R15 and M1 as their flagship drivers and the AeroBurner and M2 at a lower price point."
oh gotcha. Didn't see that post, I apologize. I agree that their marketing does get a little funny, but I do see why they do it. It's exposing their brand to a huge audience of people.
nice to see Dobby back enjoy your tests as so honest and genuine and always makes me smile and could not agree more with the all the makers bringing out too many clubs too soon needs to be said by more i think
+Robert Potter The good thing is Rob that most here are golfers and we all realise what they are doing too us with regards to new gear is wrong and when you spend hundreds it should be current for a year at least. Mate your opinions never go downhill and you always make me laugh
Dave Bucks cheers pal. As I say, a few keyboard warriors but every view is welcome. Even from the person who despises EVERY review I do. Lmao #youtubestalker
Like the honesty Rob! I bought the R-15 for $400 then 5 months later the M1 comes out. The sound off the club face is a little better with the M1 when compared to the "thud" sound of the R15. I'm liking the Ping G as my next driver or as another option. Looks and Sound are a big draw to a club for me. Anyway, keep up the great reviews
I like Rob's honesty, don't know why people complain about him, if he said he absolutely loved every club it would be boring. C'mon lads just relax! Rob doesnt deserve hate!
I think it's a thing of beauty. I prefer it to the entirely white top of the Aeroburner and R15. I want one - can't afford one so might invest in the M2 instead.... or won't!! lol
There was a massive increase (22yds) in driving from 1993 to 2003, after which it has levelled off, with a few exceptions on Tour. So, your two year old driver is still going to work. The reason for the two-tone head is purely for TV, so we can all say "Oooh! He's got an M1".
+Robert Potter couldn't agree with you more. The constant barrage of new gear is enough to make your head spin. As an average consumer and club golfer, finding the gear that works for you and STICKING with it is becoming increasingly more important and also more difficult
I'll give you my mates review on the R1 when we tested it at the belfry few years back.. tester asked him how he got on..mate replies "I hit every corner of the driving range" ..best review I've ever heard ..The belfry guys were even laughing
I completely agree with what rob is saying in terms of the clubs being too adjustable and killing ammeters. I play with a guy who will hit it one way then change the set up to hit the opposite way then ends up being even worse!! I also agree that there is too much too fast, these companies should do what PXG have said and not bring anything out unless its a significant improvement. Well said Rob.
+James Hunter Golf I agree with you about the release cycles but am actually a fan of adjustability. I have always seen it as a tool for the fitter not the golfer. I remember having my driver custom fitted and it took hours because we had to glue the shafts in place each time. These days its a simple matter to try different shafts. All you need is a bit of self discipline and to remember that the fitter knows a lot more than you do. Once it works just leave it alone.
Adrian Twiss Yes I agree that people should be disciplined. Do you think that the average player should be provided with a tool to change it or do you think it should just be something pro shops can do?
Super fair points here for Rob. Well said all around. I actually changed from my M1 to a Titleist 915 D3. M1 is a weird driver. Probably need like an 11 or 12 degree lofted driver for almost anyone to maximize the M1 distance. It's why DJ (a super fast swinging pro) uses 11 degrees!!! A midhandicapper with an 85 mph swing speed will not see good results with a 9.5 degree M1. Really strange driver.
I'm struggling to understand how companies are taking the piss out of consumers? It's like saying that high street fashion companies are doing the same bringing out new styles every 3 months. The clothes still do the same job, so it's up to you whether you want to buy it or stick with last seasons. It's the same with golf clubs! You can choose to believe the marketing hype about distance/forgiveness/speed etc. or you can just accept that the gear you have from last year/2 years ago is still doing a great job. Just take a look at the tour pros some of them are using well out dated equipment, Stenson carries a Diablo 3 wood from about 4 years ago, Danny Willett uses a Versa putter from 2013. No one is forcing you to buy this stuff if you don't want to, if it's not broken don't bloody fix it!
exactly buddy. each to their own really. I gained nothing from it in feel or distance, which was disappointed and I kinda hoped for more if I'm honest. maybe the M2 maybe better, who knows because the Aeroburner I snotted long last year
+Robert Potter I guess you probably already know T.M. came out with an all black Aeroburner. They must have have listened to you! lmao! Of course they cost a lot less than the M2.
I still use an RBZ driver. If I go and spend 400-500 quid on a driver , it better add some serious distance and forgiveness ( caddying the bag wouldn't hurt either ) . Much better for me to go practice + get lessons instead of trying to buy my way into better scores. It's the same for most players I would think .
Haha Rob won't like a driver on aesthetics until Callaway makes a persimmon driver with no adjustments or features and calls it the Potter. Your the man Rob, the Jeremy Clarkson of club reviews! (and that's a massive compliment)
Great review as ever, speaks his mind, great to hear an alternative opinion, there are more than enough reviews of the M1 by low handicap golfers out there. Keep it up crash test Dobby.
The most important shot for you Rick is the next one, hopefully some of your next shots will be at Troon! After a bad round on the weekend I could use a top up in my ball compartment!
I've just brought an M2 Custom fitted by the Taylormade Performance Centre at Celtic Manor. I'd love to hear what Rob thinks on this! I'd like to hear what he thinks of the M2 Fairway woods also!
As soon as middle aged men with mid handicaps stop having egos, these release cycles will continue. As another poster said, no-one is holding a gun to anyones head to buy the latest and greatest. If us guys can ditch the egos', stop buying new clubs every year, the OEM's may change. Otherwise nothing to moan about.
Well done Rob I think you hit the nail on the head we don't need all the moving parts/sliders I bet most amateurs set it and never move it don't see the point and for £400 notes.. why?
The TaylorMade M2 Driver at saleaugolf. M2 Driver is similar to the M1, but with an ultra-light, ultra-thin and high-strength Carbon Composite Crown to unlock exceptional distance and forgiveness for more golfers.
Rob your reviews are honest and interesting, you can only say what you think. Rick I think adds a valid point that you had made your mind up that you didn't like this driver based on the looks. To be honest I'm not sure about the look myself. It reminds me of a Star Wars storm troopers helmet. If it had been all black or all white I would not have a problem with the look. Rick should get you to test the M2 although it looks the same it has a slightly more forgiving head which might suit you better. Although again the looks may just be enough still to put you off and not really make it perform.
I'd love to test the M2. less pratting about with adjustability on it, which is better. as for the results being based on not liking the club's, I swing every club the same. proof is in the Aeroburner test last year. I despised that club with a passion and I hit it the best in test and the longest. granted, that big drive (for me anyway) I did give it the full beans and a Gary Player walk after I hit it. not to mention a HUGE grunt lol
+Robert Potter Thanks for the reply Robo. It's obvious you love your golf and I love your straightforward reviews. I would like to see you test M2 as it seems a bit more a grip it and rip it club like the aero burner. I have to agree with you on the moving weights, pretty much a waste of time for the vast majority and if you ever get the weights set properly would they really make that much difference. A poor swing is a poor swing and 20 grammes of weights won't change that.
For golf manufactures it is about sales. But I do agree with Rob that from the consumer point of view it is too much to frequently. We all want to play the best that we can. So it is frustrating when you buy a club that you hope can help your game then they come out with another several months later making you think you should have waited.
Well, I spent a long time trying drivers at The Belfry and this one went 25 y further than the nearest (and 40 y further than my crappy old driver) in the "forgiving draw" settings and - most importantly for me - with substantially less dispersion. I like the look of it. I can afford it, or at least my wife can. I love the technology, the sound, the colour. I can't wait to groove my new swing more so that I can risk turning up the wick with the sliders and maybe adjusting the loft. I don't feel insulted by the manufacturer. Surely also, golf is a mental game. We all hit the ball best with clubs we love, and love clubs that hit the ball well. You've got to want it to fly. If you come to a review with, as Rob jokingly says, anger management issues, you will hit, as Rob less jokingly says, four crap* shots. *They were not so crap IMO.
I like Rob's bold opinions. I would like to see him hit this driver using various settings of the adjustable weights, just to see if he could get better results than was shown. Also, if the driver doesn't work for him, why give it a 7 rating. For him, and the settings he was using, it doesn't look much better than a 3.
Did Rob ever test the M2? It would be interesting to see how the club performs for him. It would also be good to see a comparison between the M1 and M2 by Rob, especially now the M1 has come down in price.
Great honest review Rob! So I guess you prefer the G more then the M1? How would you rate them comparing with the monster drive you had with the JPX850? Cheers from the Netherlands and please keep up the good work!
It's not he manufacturers fault mate, it's the customers. If the manufacturer thinks it will make a difference so be it but they are a business at the end of the day!!
We laughed about the sound the first time we hit this club too... Sounds like your smackin' somebody upside the head!... (well, a hollow head)...lol BUT, Holy Sh*t...does this driver fly! Because of the sound, I actually thought I miss-hit it the first time I swung it... That was until I saw where the ball ended up!! If you can get used to, or ( just ignore) the sound, you will not be disappointed AT ALL... And BTW, I love the way this club looks... Very cool & easy to line up w/the contrast - just makes you wanna crush the ball!
Irrespective of how often new products are released (we are pretty weak individuals if we succumb to every single piece of marketing), I think this also shows how first appearance can influence a performance result. If a product doesn't immediately appeal then there is a lack of desire to find out if it really performs for you. I don't like the look of this driver either and I couldn't care less if it was £150 or £450, I'm just not going to pick it up. For others, it looks fantastic and are more likely to see the performance numbers in a positive light. It's just personal choice!
I Am a TaylorMade fan but I'm with Rob on this 100%. They are putting too many moving parts in these drivers for your average golfer. My favorite TaylorMade driver is still the R5. Given all of the moving parts in drivers now, that when I was in market for a driver I bought the Ping G30.
+lync3012 I thought about that too, but lowering the loft would have lowered the spin as well. Either way this isn't a driver meant for Rob so we shouldn't be too surprised by the results.
+oskarfahlstrom Yeah I agree on the spin numbers, was more thinking about the launch angle, which indicates that this driver just doesn't work for him.
No disrespect guys but to say you think he hit those shots solid enough is quess work, especially when you look at those numbers on 1st two shots, I think maybe you need to use the hmt dots and show where Mr Potter is hitting it on the face to back up the numbers
Rob. . how come rick and yourself didn't change the settings on the M1?? loft?? draw fade etc maybe got more out of it but great test love watching your reviews entertaining, informative and a bloody good laugh keep it up good luck with your h/cap moving down
I don't think this is a particularly fair review given Rob's clear bias against TM and he already wanted to hate this driver before he even swung it.
Love these series of videos! Your a lucky man Dobby ;)
ya he is!!!
buddy, I agree totally. I'm a very lucky guy and I thank Rick from the bottom of my heart for the opportunities he's given me the last few years.
+Robert Potter You deserve every opportunity Rick has presented to you, you sound like one of the most genuine guys, and that's from just watching you on videos! Get that handicap down!
+Robert Potter I'm so happy u are around Rob, to stick it to Rick and the other reviewers who has been wooed by the glimmering carbon looks.
Joe Clayton thanks buddy
Love the Rob vids, keep em coming
Spot on Rob...I'm slightly annoyed at Ping, as I bought the G30 in September then a couple of months later the bring out the G range! I know there's not much difference but still feel like I'm using a less superior version.
+James Harvey Not their fault you waited until it was out for almost 2 years to buy it lol.
Great to hear someone on a golf channel speak their mind ! Well done Rob!!
I own this driver and use it. I love the sound and feel. I would give it a five star rating. It is a beautiful club.
How can you not like the look of the M1/M2 looks best driver on the market.!!
I totally agree with Rob! And i think many pro's and very low handicap agrees too. In the circuit, almost the 90% of TM players switch to M2, and i don't think is a money question at all! I think M1 is amazing, BUT too tricky!
so Rob doesn't like the look of this from the top but he likes the G driver,ok:)
😂 ikr
the man uses minion and joker head covers and dresses like my grandfather...
not someone I would hinge my style points on...
thought I would love the M1 tested it along with Ping G, callaway xr, cobra king and others. I went with the G just a personal choice didn't care for the M1 look or feel just a personal choice. thanks Rick for the great reviews
Rob says what he thinks haha love it. All you sayings are so true. Your awesome. Keep it up guys
Rob shouldn’t discuss the “looks” of any equipment when he dresses like that 😭
Great vid lads, really interesting to see how Rob's concious bias impacted his swing and consequent review, testimony to the importance of the "try before you buy" in this sport. Would be interesting to see how he fares with the M2, same aesthetic hang ups for him but would the more forgiving head produce better swing data?
M1 for president. Best driver I've ever used.
Brilliant honest review. Love your videos because your honest and can relate to you being a mid handicaper. Also your from up north! Keep it up mate.
I'm still using this driver. Honestly it's a bomb machine. Looking back at old reviews because I'm thinking about the SIM driver. Just don't know if its it's worth it when I hit my 2016 M1 great.
Just ordered a used one of these, looking forward to it.
Great review Rob. Love the honesty and passion. Keep up the awesone reviews. FORE!
nice to see Dobby back enjoy your tests as so honest and genuine and always makes me smile and could not agree more with the all the makers bringing out too many clubs too soon needs to be said by more i think
thanks Dave. I'm waiting for the keyboard warriors to start. it only goes downhill on my opinions with the reviews after this one
Lmao
#youtubestalker
Like the honesty Rob! I bought the R-15 for $400 then 5 months later the M1 comes out. The sound off the club face is a little better with the M1 when compared to the "thud" sound of the R15. I'm liking the Ping G as my next driver or as another option. Looks and Sound are a big draw to a club for me. Anyway, keep up the great reviews
thanks Moe
I like Rob's honesty, don't know why people complain about him, if he said he absolutely loved every club it would be boring. C'mon lads just relax! Rob doesnt deserve hate!
I think it's a thing of beauty. I prefer it to the entirely white top of the Aeroburner and R15. I want one - can't afford one so might invest in the M2 instead.... or won't!! lol
Love you videos Rick, I love the m1 it is the best driver I've ever hit but I see where rob is coming from, with the review.
Hahahah loved Rob Ripping TAylormades gimmicks and release cycles .
His driver skills match that of a mid cappers.
great video love the comments of rob
Rick keep the vids coming with Rob!!
There was a massive increase (22yds) in driving from 1993 to 2003, after which it has levelled off, with a few exceptions on Tour. So, your two year old driver is still going to work.
The reason for the two-tone head is purely for TV, so we can all say "Oooh! He's got an M1".
Nice to see a the price discussed in a review. Nice one Rob for saying what we all think👍.
Hope to see you do the Cobra gear soon.
+Robert Potter couldn't agree with you more. The constant barrage of new gear is enough to make your head spin. As an average consumer and club golfer, finding the gear that works for you and STICKING with it is becoming increasingly more important and also more difficult
In Dobby we trust !!
Love the reviews Rick and Rob. Keep up the great work Rob, single figures in no time !!
Spot on, Rob. Can't fault anything you said. Keep up the good work. When are you publishing your book on analogy translations for the US viewers?😉😉 👍
I'll give you my mates review on the R1 when we tested it at the belfry few years back.. tester asked him how he got on..mate replies "I hit every corner of the driving range" ..best review I've ever heard ..The belfry guys were even laughing
grat review pete and rob your an absolute legend
Love it Rob, honest review as ever. Completely agree too many changes in clubs by manufacturers.
nice robbo. great to get the voice heard from a typical golfer.
7:13 Ball Speed 1276mph!!!! Keep up the reviews, good to hear a honest opinion.
This was the most interesting driver review on UA-cam so far.
Rob = UA-cam Gold.
Keep em coming Rob! Love the honesty!
Like you say Rob work for some, I'm the some 8.5 460 gained 40 yards because it's killed my spin rate. Loving it.
exactly buddy. each to their own really.
John White oh I know about the Aeroburner. Lol
I couldn't find one in UK though
The M2 is classic. I am a Srixon fella and nothing has ever compared to TM drivers.
I still use an RBZ driver. If I go and spend 400-500 quid on a driver , it better add some serious distance and forgiveness ( caddying the bag wouldn't hurt either ) . Much better for me to go practice + get lessons instead of trying to buy my way into better scores. It's the same for most players I would think .
eoin ...completely agree get something that you like hitting get used to them then get lessons it'll make you a better golfer
Should absolutely try the M2. Way different driver from the M1. Different CG and MOI profile.
+Luke Pritchett it would likely be the same non-sensical rant, plus some more pre-rehearsed idioms but minus the comments about sliding weights.
I agree with EVERYTHING Rob said.
Well said Dobby! There are drivers that will do us just as well for over half the price of this.
Oohh I've been waiting for this one 👍
Well done Rob I think you hit the nail on the head we don't need all the moving parts/sliders I bet most amateurs set it and never move it don't see the point and for £400 notes.. why?
at 7:13 massive ball speed 1276 mph. #1 driver on tour lol
Well said Rob!
Good honest review, nice one Dobby!
Wise words here from Rob...
I agree with you Rob
Rob is spot on. Manufacturers are taking the piss.
How about getting fit. You love the aero burner. Better tech in the M1.
Still using the r11s know it like the back of my hand, hit it well, see no reason to change.
Will i really be losing yards vs the new drivers?
Looking at the launch angle I wonder if you guys might have had the loft set to high for Robb on that club.
Too high? If anything he would of needed more loft. as stated in the video.. but testing everything at 10.5 ish
Still using my taylormade burner superfast 2.0 purely because of the sound.
Agree. Simple as that
Rob. . how come rick and yourself didn't change the settings on the M1?? loft?? draw fade etc maybe got more out of it but great test love watching your reviews entertaining, informative and a bloody good laugh keep it up good luck with your h/cap moving down
Can you do a comparency between 5 Wood and 3 hybrid?
Totally agree with Rob about to much stuff out to often.
