    Hey Sportsman. Thanks for putting yourself out there and showing us a new light way to climb. I’m always trying to go as light as possible. Gonna give this a shot. Appreciate it!

    I have tried every method of lightweight climbing and I personally love the wild edge Steps. I keep all of my steps in a FWD facing Fanny pack if you will. I also only use the knee hook and with my lineman’s rope I can get up all of 18 feet with just using my knee hook and I’m 5’9. I feel like you may only get an extra 6-10 inches higher with the caribiner swader which only is about 3-5 foot higher and more noise and nonsense to carry.. I used to struggle getting the steps to cam because I was inconsistent with the knot and now I can get up and down with ease. I love it. I do wish they made a 6 pack not a 5 pack. One more step would get me to 20-23 feet no problem. AVOID PINE TREES THEY SUCK TO CAM the steps.

    I've been climbing with WEI steps since 2020. I recently purchased the Knaider/Swaider from Backwoods Mobile Gear. My goal is to go from 8 steps to 4 or 5. Great content!

    Seems like a nice and light system. A bit noisy for me, but my biggest concern is that of safety. That linemans belt falls down and is loose during the very tenuous and weight transfer/commitment times-when falls are most likely to occur. Clearly, it's imperative that you first actually test practice a simulated fall with that linemans belt (while being safety spotted) . Otherwise, if a step gives way, you're likely in for a serious fall. Thing is, you just don't know until you test it, adjust and then retest it.

    Man you a big boy like me… Those saddle are not comfortable as my Guidos Web, they don’t make them anymore but the JX3 hybrid is just like it you should really check it out. I really like that climbing method I’m using lone wolf sticks but that looks awesome there. I need to try that! Thanks man!

    Just a suggestion but have you tried repelling down instead of climbing ?

    Buddy you need a tether rope also because that lineman belt will not prevent you from falling if a step or aider fails

    This is not a personal attack, just a few things to address, or jokes I can’t help but tell:
    How many beers until this climbing thing is not a good idea? 😂
    Once you run heavy out of breath, with no spotter, that is indeed, high enough.
    Recommend you bring a friend along, could help with the camera, or call you an ambulance, or send you up some water.
    🤷‍♂️
    Be careful, but keep climbing and filming, please?

      Lol don’t need no spotter or ambulance been climbing trees all my life! Just when it’s close to 100 outside this fat boy gets alittle winded lol! But I’ll keep on climbing these wv mountains and climbing up these trees!

    I have these steps and have been curious about using the naider and swaider. Does wet bark make it hard to keep your toes from kicking out?

    • @sbvoutdoors46
      @sbvoutdoors46  3 роки тому

      Andrew Sheppard I haven’t had any problems with it but I always make sure to put as much pressure on my foot as I can against the tree and usually try to keep my foot in the center part of the tree.

  • @outdoorsman9384
    @outdoorsman9384 3 роки тому +2

    Your a pretty big dude, do you ever get slippage on your steps were it would make the naider swaider slip too each side

    • @sbvoutdoors46
      @sbvoutdoors46  3 роки тому +1

      Eric Follendorf I get my steps as tight as I can get them and hardly ever have them slip and the naider Swaider does slip sometimes to one side or the other but I usually just hook on to one side and keep my body weight to that side and it doesn’t slip that way.

      @@outdoorsman9384 I am 360 and if you get the step tight enough it doesn't slip. Had that issue trying it out at first but figured out I am just a hair lose on the cam over.

    You should get some caribiners that are made for climbing though, Wally Worlds are not rated for that and are not safe. Hate to see you get hurt or fall
