      Thanks for making this!!! I was super excited to see a new one from you guys!! lately I have been watching fly t.v. with Daniel Burgman. They do most of their fishing in Sweeden. Worth a look. The flies and tactics they use are very unique. But dont worry. Yours is still one of my fav channels. I like the new style of presenting by the way. Sortof a storry telling feel. Keep it up you guys!!

      What an awesome video. I’ve been going to Fernie for the last 8 years every summer. I recognized many spots you guys fished. Truly one of if not the best place in bc for flyfishers.

    It's remarkable how big and beautiful westslope cutthroat can be. I live on the other side of the Continental Divide where I landed an older male last week that pulled me about 30 feet downstream. When I finally got him in my net, he looked like Christmas because his back so grey it looked almost green, and the big crimson slash under his throat ran all the way down his belly. Great video!Next time you're in the Rockies when it isn't so close to spawning season, don't be afraid to tie on the absolute biggest streamer you have. Some of the bull trout in the area are so large you'd almost guess they were searun.

    Superb, great to see you both have your " mojo " back and are enjoying the fishing again. It must be hard work producing such a high quality film and being away from family too. You're both real fishers, have that enthusiasm and childlike quality when the fish are on! Makes us all feel young a good days fishing. Also, the pieces to camera - it feels like you are both addressing the viewer personally, very natural. Thanks again - keep up the great work.

    Wow. You guys are great storytellers. You have lots of great footage covering aerial, eye level, background, below water, behind the scene, interviews, audio that we can understand. It almost seem like you have a story board that you are following, a shot list, A roll, B roll, fillers, and a camera man... or two that's following you around. I wouldn't be surprised if these places you go visit use your videos as advertisement for their fishing holes. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

    Do you prefer/wear felt or rubber soled wading boots?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 років тому +1

      Having tried both in the last few years, I must say felt remains my favourite.

    • @littlegoobie
      @littlegoobie 7 років тому +1

      yeah. felt is much better than rubber lug soles. The traction on slimy, algae covered rocks is unmatched. Unfortunately, felt soles are slowly being phased out and straight up banned in many areas and/or water systems becuase biologists believe they transport micro organisms between bodies of water. I have a pair of felt G3's up in AK that i can no longer use, i believe they were banned, state wide 4 years ago. they were the first to do it.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  6 років тому

      Thanks! In late spring, some of the rivers (where we fished in the video) will likely to be too high due to snow melt but you should still be able to find many places to try out that will be productive. Good luck!

    Apart from your fishing licence, so you need a permit to fish these rivers?I'm planning a trip to the Rockies next year and this is at the top of my list.
    If you ever take a trip to Scotland, let me know, i'd be delighted to get you on some fish.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 років тому +1

      Hi Dave, the Elk River system is "classified water" so you'd need to purchase a classified water conservation surcharge to fish it. The money from this surcharge goes to an organization called Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation, which is a funding agency and provides financial support on conservation projects like research, habitat restoration and angling access/infrastructure improvement.
      Thanks for the offer on Scotland! One day!

    Beautifully shot, however, I do wish that it showed more raw fishing instead of a documentary style of video. I miss when these videos were based solely around the act of fishing. Still enjoy your videos, but wish they would feel less like commercials and more like a bunch of people having fun on the water. Just my thoughts. Keep up the good work!

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 років тому +2

      Thanks for that feedback! :) We've spent literally hours having this same discussion actually, because it's important for me to know what my viewers like to see. We chose this style for this particular episode because the story telling made it a lot easier for me to stitch the story of our trip together. I wanted to have a more professional feel to it and see what people think. Rest assure though that it's not the only route we are going with. We'll be bouncing back and forth, so expect to see more videos like the ones we did before too. :)
