Fishing with Rod just found about your channel and I thought your videos were great so I subscribed and noticed you live in Vedder. I live right in Sardis 👍
@@FishingwithRod Absolutely, I like all the videos you and Rod put out particularly the one where Kitty uses to pump the rainbow trout to find out what the fish is eating and the colors of aquatic insects, chironomids.
Scotty makes rod I. I remember chasing a rod in hi Hume Lake with a four pounder on and running ,we managed to catch the rod and fish, lol .I think it has had to a lot of of us trout chasers, good luck fishing, and great content.
@@FishingwithRod I'm pretty new to your channel. Are you mainly in Canada and or Alaska or do you travel around? I'm currently in CDA Idaho and travel with my wife. It would be awesome to link up.
recently found your channel and have been going thru your vids. love the channel. same thing happened to me recently, friend lost his rod ice fishing, 20 min later, i hooked his line and up came his rod AND the fish! great memory! cheers from Mackenzie, BC!
Lost and found a rod to a big Rainbow on Babine Lake years ago, I even caught and released it. All that was visible was about a foot of my fly line. Needless to say I invested in rod holders.
Fishing with Rod welcome I've spent the night watching your videos I'm along time 25 years fisherman getting back into it ,watching the videos refreshing MY memory. I love the enthusiasm and passion from you and Kitty is she your wife ,she's great😃
Hey everyone... I just had to post this.. I am 53 years young. I spent many a day looking at Irish Lake as a kid . ( 12 yr to 15 yr) old. We knew the owners of the old car wrecker at Irish Lake and stayed across the hwy at the first log cabin after the train tracks past Lone Bute on the left.. The Harper Family.. I always said there were fish in that lake but absolutely no one fished it.. When I heard they made a public access and people were catching fish I said ,,, I KNEW IT!!! Those rises I saw WERE fish and not methane bubbles I was told they were LOL.. FISH ON PEOPLE!!
It's basically bobber fishing with a fly rod even though most fly fishers would not admit it. ;) The indicator is used to suspend your chironomid at the exact depth you want it to be, usually 1 or 2 feet off the bottom where fish are feeding at, a really common and effective way to target these fish.
Rod I'm really enjoying your shows lately .... both of your skills are improving and the fish are getting bigger ..the best part is the excitement laughter tears of fishing.. kitty is so natural her excitement when you that first bigger fish on was great ... need to ask your Scotty rep for a rod holder ... oh yeah you are one lol ...keep up the good work Gary
I find it really hard fishing trout after slaying the salmon fisheries!! ... Yet this just inspired me to Hook into some trout!! I have been wanting to drive up the fishing highway ever since my landlord brought it up and this just truly inspired me!! Thanks guys you rock!! Also Fishing with Rod has been helping me a lot for fishing through the past 4 years much respect!!
Good to hear! Thanks for watching. The trout fishing along the Fishing Highway is just as enjoyable as coastal river salmon fishing if not more, especially if you're getting fish that are 4lb or bigger. Hopefully you'll get a chance to give it a go soon. :)
@@FishingwithRod Absolutely!! As you often say ... Its hard to pick where to go fishing out here!! There are so many beautiful areas and fisheries in this province yet not enough hours in a day lol!! I definitely will have a go at it in the near future!! Thanks for your awesome work Rod!!
You guys are hilarious! And I quote "....I don't care! Get the net! Get the net!" May I suggest one thing? Rod holders Rod! Ha ha ha! I'm curious, are those Kamloops/Gerrards? And to those that are worried about "outing the fishing holes", it's BC. There are thousands of lakes. One lake isn t going to ruin it. Plus up there, there's not that many people there. Oh, and Rod. You are one lucky sucker to be with Kitty. Now SHE'S the keeper! Fish On!
Guy H. Those are Pennask rainbow trout, one of several strains produced and stocked by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. Thanks! Kitty and I are actually not a couple. We both are married.
We are very fortunate to have the freshwater fisheries in this province. 8 million fish are stocked in over 800 lakes, it is a huge playground for those who enjoy fishing.
Rodney and Kitty makes it look easy, and fun. We definitely have to add BC to our bucket list of fishing destination in the future. Thank you for this well made fishing video. We hope to see more. Glad to have subscribed.
If you wanna catch some massive trouts, you should come to NZ. There was 56lbs trout caught recently. It's fun to pull out 30+lbs trouts on 8lbs line hehe
The gentleman who recovered my rod owns Irish Lake Ranch. I'm not totally sure what accommodations the ranch offers but you can contact him via their Facebook page by simply typing Irish Lake Ranch.
@@FishingwithRod No problem!! ... I have only been once and huge rainbow trout were jumping in the middle of the lake ... Yet didn't have a float tube with me ... So, unfortunately, I couldn't fish it efficiently cause of the huge grass beds around the shore!! Next time :)
Tom Wild That really depends on what’s hatching on the day when you are there. That’s why many lakes fishers have boxes of flies to match the hatch whenever possible. That said, there are some consistent patterns which you should have and they usually would do the job.
I would get perhaps two of each pattern in case one works really well so you have a backup. #14, #16 chromies, antistatic with red/black/brown rib, black with red rib, olive.... These are all pretty regular ones that produce. You'll need enough leader to get the fly down to where the fish are (a couple of feet above the bottom) under the indicator.
this video made me want to get out there and fish so bad. I just love Kitty's enthusiasm and genuine excitement when hooking the big ones, it brings back a lot of memories catching my first Pink salmon many years back and my most recent and last catch which was this 30 ish lb'er Lingcod. I was so stoked that I couldn't stop yapping while fighting it in Great video guys!

Great video. Rod fishes with all the most gorgeous fisherwomen. Lucky dude that Rod.
Great trip 👍
Yeah! Thanks for watching Tony.
I do enjoy flyfishing lakes in my float tube?
Beautiful Rainbow trophy Trout. The lake must be full of a variety of aquatic insects.

Rod, Kitty, that was a riot! I’m buying you both a rod holder for Christmas! Thanks for the fun.
