  • The Oregon Jet-Fit is a strimmer (weed whacker) head designed to be used with Flexiblade chord the tough, reinforced chord also sold by Oregon. This combination is very effective at dealing with all strimming tasks from heavy brush to grass trimming.

    Will this fit the billion Ryobis out there? No, because the Ryobi has a long stem. However the work around that worked for me was to remove the original head assembly except the main body that receives the drive. Fit the Jetfit with the spindle washer insert supplied, add the closest fit washer supplied then I fitted a rubber washer and then washers to buildup the end of the spline ( one or two) remove the bolt from the original bump head and lock up.. I could not fit the supplied bump head because it fouled the locking bolt but a smaller headed bolt may overcome this.. I think the rubber washer would give a solid grip between the drive casing and the Jetfit.

    Good review. My big question with this stuff, is what happens when the scrub takes of and inch or two of the wire, wouldn't you have to use a completely new strip and would this be a regular and annoying thing to do, replacing it regularly?
    Have you you used this flexiblade in a regular bump head spool?

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  4 роки тому

      I have not tried it in a spool, I reckon it is a bit too stiff. I just replace the flexiblade when it gets too short. :-)

    The key is does your system take out the roots? This saves time and prevents recutting or spraying to kill the roots this system with 158 string does work

    Great review. I'm thinking of buying a 36v cordless strimmer for a medium sized garden - not professional usage by any means. The shaft is not straight on my favoured model. Do you have any idea why the Oregon heads are only recommended for straight shafted versions.

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  3 роки тому

      I am not sure. It is probably because they place more strain on the shaft and the straight shafts are inherently stronger. :-)

    • @barlow2976
      @barlow2976 2 роки тому

      bent shaft strimmers are toys, that's why.

    • @sethburgess8211
      @sethburgess8211 Рік тому

      Bent shaft strimmers are driven by a thin cable and do not have a gearbox. A straight shaft strimmer has a shaft, or sometimes a very stiff braided cable. The reason a bent shaft shouldn't use brushcutter intended heads is because when brushcutting the forces put through the head can snap the shaft.

      Did you fit it the way I did in he video? Drop it into the recess on the head and turn it until it locks in the direction of the arrow using the tool. Mine does not come off. The only other thing that I can think of is the direction of rotation may be different on your machine. :-)

    Has there been any lawsuits in UK regarding the use of this and the 2-tooth Oregon brushcutter blade you reviewed on another video??? Because both products are not legal for sale anymore in the U.S. I am guessing maybe metal fatigue on the 2-tooth blade and the aluminum wire on the Jet-Fix might fling pieces off and have resulted in lawsuits here in the U.S. Can't get either anywhere in the U.S., not even NOS on Ebay.

    Man i just buy the exact pack you talk about, this is to go on my FS90 stihl, normaly 2.5mm max, i hope what you say is real, and this can be the max efficient to cut big grass. Let me know if you are sure, cause i can change the size if 4mm is to big.. Thanks for this video i see it 5 times
    I try 4mm before on my Stihl 90Fs, i fell is pain with a 4 line classic, try with 2 line to, the grass is not cutting well with this both solution, that why i decide to hunt for a solution, and im here..
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update after 5 hours of use with my stihl Fs 90 power 28cc
    Oh! my! God!!!!
    This is the best Team cutting grass i ever see, i cant believe what i see today, i work 5 hours , change the line in 2 minutes maximum, i use less benzine, normaly my stihl play 1 hour full of gaz, with this Jet-Fit i use only 1 and half full tank for a real 4h30mn of job out of pause, like change the line, put benzine, go back to my house to cut other brand line ECHO to compare and drink some Water.
    Nothing can resiste to this Team (Jet-Fit+ 4mm line flexiblade or other good quality), AMAIZING Tools, no need to buy a big stihl like 450 or 510 560 etc, believe me or not, my 90 Fs its like a tank now, nothing can resiste, and soh soh economic, RUSSELL Thanksssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
    The only thing i dont like in this story is the line , Flexiblade is to fragile, always broke ,each 30 or 40 minutes maximum, to much stones to much hood in my mountain, flexiblade its for garden of town in my opinion, my line ECHO DIAMOND EDGE 4.0mm 28m its much much better 2 hours of hard use and do the exact same job, for the 30% of the price of this Flexiblade Oregon. Anyway i'm realy happy, i feel me like a Pro now, no i'm wrong, not a Pro, i feel me like a Jedi with a lazer..
    I believe you Russell, Thanks for your help, you change my life with my Garden of 1 hectare, i can do it now with a big smile on my face, each 3 month. *****Russell

    I prefering the bumperhead. You spend more time constantly refitting the Stripes. Filling the bumperhead is taking me only 2 minutes and im good for some ours of cutting, depending what I am trimming. And with this head, you wasting a lot of the expensive string. With every new pair of Strings you waste nearly 2 Inches times 2 becaus you changing 2 Strings. That means, when you canged the string 4 times, you wasted 16 inches of string, wat you could have used on a bumphead. And for me, the time and string is way to expensive to waste it with this type of head
    For example:
    At work i have to cut most of the times high gras and brushes. Sometimes after working 4-5 Minutes, sometimes less, I have to bump the head. With this head, I would have to shut down the trimmer, unhook it from my belt and put in new stripes. Than starting up the trimmer again and hook it back to my belt. When I am working 1 our, that would mean, that i had to do this up to 12 Times and more.
    And with an bumphead, I can always have a constand Stringlenth. With this head, I have to work half of the time with short String, because I have to use up all the string. That means, I would be much slower in comparason with a bumphead.
    When you a homegamer and you are useing your trimmer only for a few minutes, this head is for you.
    If you have to work hours with your trimmer, this head is a big waste of your time and material.

      I’m looking for the head and string which would cut bushes. What would you advise ?

    • @schlosserprofi8647
      @schlosserprofi8647 3 роки тому

      @@senseislava It depends how thik the brushes are. If it is green and fresh you can gat eway with string. But if the brushes are old and woody and much of it you need a brushcutter blade. And for light brushes you need first of all the right string bumbhead for your wheeteater and your wheeteater needs to be strong enough. At least 30cc and higher. And the string has to be at least 3mm or thicker and you need the right string. I am using nylium Nylsaw from oregon.
