Another great video. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
Cheers Nick! :-)
Very eloquent and succinct great, informative video.
Useful indeed. Thank you for posting.
You are welcome George. :-)
Thank you for the review. We are useing the Jet Blade in really rough terain with a lot of hiddden rocks in the southern swiss alps. A bush Cutter broke on a stone one time and almost injured me. Then we changed to teh Jet fit. Its more expensive and a bit less strong, but it won't hurt you if you hit a hidden rock! We are happy with the jet fit. We used the 7 mm and the 4 mm combined in a head for 4 strings
I agree, the Jet Fit is much safer and less liable to throw debris at the user. I find the Flexiblade tends to wear out quickly if the brush is thick and woody. Take care up there, I bet you have some wonderful scenery! :-)
@@RussellPlatten they wear down quickly. To put them into water a few hours before use prolongs their life considerable. And also of course, we cut first the gras and everything else before useing those flexiblade in rough terrain.
greets from switzerland
I do not soak mine in water, I will have to try that. Greetings to you from the UK too! :-)
Both!
I have the mulching blade for brush cutting but currently looking for something better than the standard line reel for grass.
Great video thank you 🤘
Glad I could help Craig! :-)
Great review☆☆☆☆
Thank you Brian. :-)
"If you can only afford one..." Huh! ? Anyone and afford £10!
What I'd like you to comment I here (you may have said it elsewhere!) is the metal blade's capacity to mulch --specifically to reduce stuff to very short scraps; and does the other thing do that (I doubt it).
I've seen someone (again, maybe you!) compare this two-blade Oregon with the 3-blade. If you haven't already, such a study might interest you. Also the Unik head which can take four strings at two levels. For it I had to get a more powerful machine. I got the SDS I think it's called, British but with Made in Japan stamped on it. 55cc, well-built, four years ago under £100.
Thanks for vid.
Thank you for the information John. :-)
Not to waste we can't. Fair do's.... What Russell has said is that both have strengths and weaknesses. If you're using these tools commercially maybe you'll need both? If not it helps to know you could compromise, and spend a tenner on petrol or beer... Thanks for that Russell.
@@grassblade2 Yes, £10 is a lot to some people. Thanks for the support! :-)
Where did you get your PPE it looks so light and comfortable ;)
LOL
Hi sorry to ask but can you use these blades on all petrol strimmer? As the wire spool I think is useless so wondered if y can fit these.
The red brush cutter blade comes with a set of adapters to allow it to fit most machines. The jetfit is also designed to fit most machines. :-)
@@RussellPlatten cheers for your quick reply. As I looking to getting a petrol strimmer but wasn't sure if I could change the wire spool to a actuall metal blade. But now I've seen your reply and other videos. Thanks and stay safe.
@@BalbirSingh-xx5se Stay safe too! :-)
What isn't being said is that it will only go through thumb thickness in diameter, and oregon spares for the jet fit head are expensive and the continual chattering weakens the springs that hold the square cord in the head.
I think that expecting the Jet Fit to go through diameters thicker than your thumb is unrealistic. The Brush Cutter blade will deal with saplings with relative ease though. I cannot comment on the springs, mine are still fine after moderate use.
That looks like a fairly old building you were trimming next to.
It is our barn and has seen better days. It is still reasonably intact though. :-)
I prefer to have both , hence I have the option which of them is appropriate of brambles heavy dense grass, especially cogon grass in my place Philippines.
I use both too! :-)
Russel ,excellent video, thnx.I noticed that some guys put jet fix cord to soak in water owernight, why?!?It is plastic,it can not absorb the water.
Apparently it lasts longer if soaked beforehand. Not convinced myself. I haven't tried it. :-)
@@RussellPlatten Thnx 👍
@@dalmatino9336 :-)
I want both blades. But if I was going to only buy 1I would buy the steel blade
I think that having both blades gives you the best of both worlds. The steel blade is great for heavy brush and OK at the rest. The Jet-Fit is great for the rest and OK for heavy brush. The more I use it, the more I prefer the Jet-fit. It is just down to personal choice, both are brilliant! :-)
Russell, thank you for these wonderfully informative brush cutting videos. I replicated your setup and have had astounding success on my property. I cleared about 1/4 of an acre of vines growing over dead bushes in a few hours. Unbelievable. I used the Honda 25cc Versattach System with a blade like yours from China. It’s hard to find your red blade in the USA for some reason. Liability maybe? Anyhow thank you brother! I used to dread doing this job with a machete and hand clippers.
It is a great set up isn't it. I think liability is the reason the Oregon brush cutter is not available in the US. I am glad that you found my video useful! :-)
Do you have to sharpen the blade before use or leave it as it is when bought..??
I sharpen the blade when it gets blunt Emmanouil. :-)
@@RussellPlatten So you mean that there is no need to sharpen it before the first use..?? I have just bought one of them..??
@@emmanouilchatzisavvas6677 It is sharp and ready to use when it arrives. Just attach it to your machine and you are ready to go! :-)
@@RussellPlatten OK.., I just asked because I thought that it should be sharp as a knife. Thank you very much for your help..!!
@@emmanouilchatzisavvas6677 Glad I could help! :-)
Try using a Heavy Duty Cable Wire, you will be amazed with the results...
:-)
Use the flexi blade all time though there’s a technique to use it 👍
:-)
Hi handsome great video. What do you drink during your video
A nice malt whisky! LOL.
Hi handsome. More videos. Please. ❤
I need to get out of this rut I have got my self into! :-)
