    Thank you for this video - I only needed to figure out how to get Smart Diagnosis to work, but your demo was the ONLY thing that helped me. I spent over 3 ****ing hours yesterday trying to figure this out, only to learn that my fridge is NOT wifi-enabled (even though I thought it needed wifi for Smart Diagnosis), and that the ThinQ app is very confusing and unhelpful. All the LG videos and FAQs were garbage. Thanks!

    Nice video with good instructions. We bought our LG 32 French Door fridge last week from Costco on sale including an extra $200 savings which arrived the other day. It replaced a piece of crap Frigidaire refrigerator that we had less than 10 years. The back of the Frigidaire was rusted from ice buildup on the inside. Several people had the same issue. We hope this will be the last fridge we own. Ours has WiFi and very spacious.

    My biggest gripe with this smart inverter technology is the variable cooling. Stick a highly accurate chemistry lab style mercury thermometer in there and you will see what I mean. Temperatures are all over the place! Even if you haven't put any additional items into the fridge you will see a variation of up to 10 degrees from coldest to warmest! LG also recommends after each temperature setting adjustment that you interrupt the power supply for one minute. Why on earth with a modern-day appliance would one need to unplug it from the wall or trip a breaker at your electrical panel after making a temperature adjustment? Still, if you want it colder than the default setting (I did), then you best throw the breaker, wait for one minute, and turn it back on. Otherwise, the fridge doesn't know that you changed the temperature setting. It's like having to reboot your computer after installing an update!

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Рік тому

      That is wild. You must have gotten an odd person in support. My fridge runs great. I haven't unplugged it since installing. I do know that most modern refrigerators with a circulation fan may do odd things if groceries are packed to the sides, thus reducing air flow. I keep everything not touching the sides.

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Рік тому

      I had another brand that kept the temperature more constant. The problem was that the fan ran constantly. Also, food holds cold temperature better than the air.

    Im pretty certain you don't have to have the shelves staggered. Each side has their own places to hook into. I double checked home depots website and the manufacturer pictures as well as the customer review pics ahow shelves that are lined up straight across! How are you liking it? This is top on my list to get! I'm still researching though!

    Looks like a really nice fridge, and we had bought this on a Cyber Monday sale, but in the few weeks before it actually would get delivered we got cold feet after reading how LG fridges still appear to be having compressor failures. Certainly hope you don’t encounter that down the line.

      I supposed any appliance part can go bad. Our oldest LG French door refrigerator was purchased in 2009, 13 years ago and still works like new. We gave that unit to a relative. We have a French door (kitchen) and side by side (laundry room) and they work great also.

      This model should be trouble free as it does not have the linear compressor. LG fridges with the label "Smart Inverter" have a conventional compressor

    I bought this secondhand. My old owner confirmed that the ice machine was working and I brought it home and connected the waterline again. It's been more than 4 hours since I turned it on, and when I touched the inside of the ice machine, the ice was completed, but it didn't fall into the ice bucket. The manual says it will work after 48 hours, so can I get the ice in the ice bucket after 48 hours?

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Рік тому

      48 hours should work. Our ice maker bucket fills up quickly every week. I wouldn't think 4 hours is enough time.

      If you take the doors off, the depth is either 29 7/8'' (759 mm) (models LRFCS29D6*, LFXS28968*) or 28 1/2˝ (724 mm) (models LFXS26973*). Removing the doors is explained in the install manual from Home Depot. It isn't too bad of a job with some help.

    Sir, do the door bins adjust up and down? Also, the LG pictures indicate that there are shelves on the very bottom of the doors where someone could store butter or other smaller items. I don't see this on your review and video...can you answer these questions for us? Thanks!

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Рік тому +1

      Hi. The door bins are not adjustable. The lower two bins on both doors are for tall items, meaning there is a lot of clearance for items like bottles of juice, milk, wine, salad dressings, etc. The top bins on both sides have a small clearance. You can store butter and short items in these bins. You can also store butter inside on the top right shelf which has little clearance. Our model is LRFCS29D6S. There may be variations of the same refrigerator that have a different model number.

      I read there were several similar models of LG at this time. Some model number(s) had some issue with the compressor. Mine is working fine. If you are buying from a retail chain store, ask them. Otherwise, be sure to search the specific model number to see if you find any discussion about issues.

    Very nice review, thank you for the time you took to provide this for everyone. I have one question I was hoping you could answer. If we don't anticipate needing to use ice for a while, is it possible to remove the ice bin and use the space as extra freezer storage? I know that there is an off button for the ice maker, but sometimes the whisker that is used to sense the amount of ice in the bin or other hardware prevents one from using the space as extra freezer space. I could not tell from the online literature or your video if this is the case with this LG refrigerator. Kind regards.

    Which drawer is the high and low humidity crisper drawer? I can’t find the information anywhere

    • @DrBDIY
      @DrBDIY  Рік тому

      Two drawers on top can each be selected as Fruit or Vegetable. The bottom drawer we use for lunch meats and cheeses. Found this:
      "The general rule of thumb is to put things that tend to rot in a drawer with a low-humidity setting. This includes fruits and veggies that emit an ethylene gas, like apples and pears, because leaving the window open on the drawer gives those gases a chance to escape. When the gases are released, it helps keep the fruits and vegetables from rotting prematurely." So, slide the upper drawer setting to Fruit to open the vent.
      "Things that wilt go in the high-humidity drawer. This will be all your leafy greens, like arugula, spinach, and herbs. By having the window closed, water vapor is held in the drawer and the moisture keeps the greens crisper and fresher longer. Keeping fruits and vegetables that are sensitive to ethylene gas, like strawberries, in this drawer will also keep them away from ethylene producers." So, slide the upper drawer setting to Vegetable to close the vent.
