Gutting to loose a calf after coming out healthy, if you have spare ring feeders, put them upside down in the big pens. Calves will go and lie in there safe from cows. Something I've done for a while and think it helps. Happy calving!
Thanks a good idea! I’ll give that a try if they have to stay in any longer. 👍
Hi James shame about the dead calves have a good weekend Thanks again
Thanks Darran! It’s all swings and round about in this job. Have a great Easter. 👍
James give the back end of your tractor a good soap and power wash, you’ll see better where the oils coming from. When I was working as an agricultural engineer it was first hour of charge washing down the machine 😉☀️😎
I’ll give it a go and see what I can find. Thank you 🙏
Sorry to hear about the calfs James, but how many would you loose during calfing normally?. And the workroom are you not blocking that window off thats broken, and maybe putting shelves across you have done a good job there 👍 and have a easy weekend if you can Happy Easter 🐰 👍💯
We would usually budget to loose 4/5 in 100. Last year we only lost 2 all calving. I guess every years different.
We are actually thinking of opening the window right up so we can look out on the cows when sat at the desk. Not promising it will happen soon though 😂
Is there a reason why your hydraulic top link is what appears to me to be on upside down? Is it a magical trick or just on wrong
Yeh, it’s attached to the post knocker permanently so adjustment. You can’t have it the ‘proper’ way around as it catches the 90 degree bends on the tractor when you life the machine up.
