- This video shows step by step on how to replace your water pump on your BMW. I am personally working on a 2017 BMW 330i however this video can also be a guide for other vehicles with similar or the same engine such as the 430i and 530i.
In the process of replacing the water pump, removed other parts such as the charge pipe, alternator and ac compressor so this can also guide you.
If you have any questions or have any advice for me as a learner please feel free to let me know. Thank you.
The engine doesn’t sound healthy when you put it back together. Does it still make that sound ?
Great video! question do you need to replace the thermostat as well, I have a small leak in my water pump, thinking of replacing the water pump only or should I also replace the thermostat as well?
How'd you get the alternator back on its not going back on
Great video thanks for sharing, but you changed water pump with bracket was the bracket leaking as well? Removing only the pumo is much easier
Thank you for the video. Im a diy f30 owner as well but I haven’t had any water pump issues yet but now that I watched this I feel better prepared for the time when my water pump does fail. Even though I read the other comments I feel like I should still say that the sound of the engine at the end of the video sounds really wrong. Not like an internal motor problem, but like a water pump bearing or ac compressor bearing failure etc. Or a loose component that runs off the serpentine belt wiggling back and forth with the movement of the serpentine belt. Or maybe its running rough after plugging the throttle body/ air flow sensors back in?
that tensioning piece on the alternator needs to be adjusted after you take the belt off, notice how it was moving back and forth like you said
Great DIY. 👍
Thank you! 😊
When I moved my ac compressor, I heard leaking?
You should remove the negative battery terminal before unplugging sensor connectors. It isnt 100% necessary but its just an additional level of caution. Depending on what type of repair you’re attempting, you could be in a situation where you could potentially short 12v into an unplugged cable.
It does sound different on video but the engine is still running good till this day
Are you sure you need to loosen the alternator To change the water pump ?
Edit. This B48-46 uses a different water pump than my B48.
I have the same noise what is it?
What is the first black block peace you remove
Thermostat housing is what I understand it to be
All that extra work for nothing remove covers and take belt off remover pulley and 4 water pump bolts
