Locked up in 2018 for repeated weed possession offenses with a cellmate who was legitimately schizophrenic. Got close with my neighbor and eventually we talked to the COs about me moving cells. Next day my old cellmate lost his mind and destroyed the cell. Have no idea what would've happened to me if I was in that cell but I tell ya that's probably the biggest wake up call I've had in my life. Have not caught a new charge since that visit (though I did end up going back to jail for 2 weeks this year on a really weird mistake regarding probation from 2019.)

When my daughter was 5, she was physically picked on and bullied on the bus to school. She told the bus driver and the driver did nothing. I had a talk with the driver, and still no intervention. I taught my little girl to fight. I told her that if they bullied her or touched her, she had my permission to clean their clock. It happened again. The kid had his head busted and bleeding because we still had metal lunch boxes. She did not get in trouble. The bus driver sat her up front and told the kid in the seat across the aisle not to bother her. You don't have to be in prison or even a grown person to know how to defend yo. It's sad really that people are ugly on the inside, down in their soul.

I did time in Fort Myers where there was 9 or 10 different floors and each floor housed different levels of inmates based on crimes. There was a man named Nicholas Canfield who murdered and sexually molested a 2 year old and he was held completely separate from everyone and by himself because everyone knew he was there and whoever got to him would have made a name for themselves basically. Anyways, my first day I walked in and there were bunks all over the place with all races mixed and I had a top bunk and the guy who had the lower bunk was just chilling in my top bunk and wouldn't move. He told me he will take whatever bunk he wanted, he was about 6'1 220lbs and I'm 5'10 185 lbs so I just decided that I'm not allowing this right now or I'll get picked on the rest of my time. People would absolutely abuse the weak, steal their food and snacks etc. So I told the guy" hey bud I'm not here to bring any problems but they assigned me to that bunk so you're either going to let me have it or we're just gonna throw down now and whoever wins gets it" .. he laughed, got up, and gave me a first bump and said 'youre alright man' and he switched bunks. It's something small and seemingly stupid but it let the guys around know that they can't just push me over. I have zero problem losing a fight if it comes to that but I'm not losing my manhood by allowing someone to just run me over.
That being said, there's no way this guy should even be locked up. If anything they should be in a minimum security. Prison does crazy things to people, people will literally end up getting life for something in prison while they're only doing a year or two.

First off, love your content brother. Seem to always have a good take on things, and keep it real about prison life.
Second, I did quite a bit of time in WA. And I was there that night dude got his eyes pulled out (Wasn’t always such a PC yard, used to be ok till about 2013). I lived in the cell below and over one. I genuinely will never forget the sound of dudes screams when he was hitting the button. The worst part about the whole situation is that everyone in the cell warned the Sgt. that it was gonna go down. West even said it himself and the COs blew it off. It was a 4man. One guy refused to cell in and checked in. When SRT responded they just knocked on the door for about 15-20 mins asking him to stop, that’s when he started ranting. Stated that they couldn’t pop the door until he stopped beating dude. He came from a straight up PC section of Walla Walla, and couldn’t handle GP, or knew he wasn’t gonna make it. It was his check in move. This is already wayy too long, so I won’t get into too much. Glad you covered it though. Was such a crazy situation

I did 20 years in Wa State. I was in the unit at Airway Heights when this happened. West was in IMU ( Intensive management unit.) at Walla Walla because he's a mental ding. They said they accidentally released him to Airway Heights. Meaning he should have never got out of IMU. He landed in a 4 man cell ( intake cell ) with this kid and 2 others. Just after lock down and count West tells this kid to call him God. West dings out on this kid tearing both his eyes out. I could hear the screams down the tier. His other 2 cellies did nothing. They guy who lost his sight sued and won 15 million.

This is a true story. I was serving a 6 year sentence back in 2000 was released in 2005. I remember there was this one guy whom I really didn't like because he would sort of take advantage of the weak,if you will, not me,tho cause I would've broken his jaw in twelve different places... Lol...anyways, there were these two young white boys, they are roomies with one another.. That guy got together with one guy I got along with very well. He somehow convinced my boy to help him rob the two young guys. They went in there cell and took their sneakers and a few other things... Anyways I got wind of what he did, along with my boy,so I went into his room and call him out to fight...he knows I use to Box, then he tried wanting to talk to me about the situation, I said I don't wanna talk,I wanna fight,sun..I told him ain't nothing gansta about what you just did come take my shit !..I would break your jaw in twelve different places, coward !..my boy came to me saying,Skillz,I'm sorry..I said not right now,sun..I wanna fight..anyways long story short they gave them back there stuff..then the two guys came to me saying thanks..I said, I didnt do this for you ,I did it for me...I don't like bullies, and next time y'all better fight before you let someone take your shit...PERIOD !

I did time out there in Spokane County around 2004. There's actually two jails, the old annex which has no cells, only giant pods that have two floors full of bunk beds. And the ln the new jail which has single level pods that are smaller with fewer bunk beds. At that time, all of the local county jails around the Seattle area had a contract with Spokane County to where if you were sentenced to longer than a week, you get shipped out there to do your time. The annex is full of the biggest gangs (surenõs and northenõs) while the new jail is where they sent everyone else. That's mostly likely why that first guy was doing time out there

I live in an area with 3 or 4 prisons. When I go to 7-11 for coffee there are usually one or two top of the line brand new pickup trucks in the parking lot and they are invariably owned by prison guards. The guards are not physically imposing, just regular men and women. I know most of them hate their jobs but the pay is better than most jobs and up until recently they could get full retirement at 20 years just like police and firefighters so that made the job somewhat desirable. They have to do a lot of mandatory overtime because they are always understaffed. Most of the inmates should be in a mental hospital but no taxpayer is willing to pay for someone else’s healthcare. I do not blame the prison staff for not getting involved, a husband of a coworker of my wife interceded in a scuffle between inmates and hurt his knee so badly he could barely walk and when he asked his supervisor for medical he was refused and told to go back to work. He went to his union rep and got help but the supervisor scolded the guard for trying to get the supervisor in “trouble”. You do a crime and get incarcerated do not expect help from anyone if you become a target. My advice if you are going in do a lot of pushups and work on your MMA skills.

I got locked up with two different murderers. I was in for a non-violent. The first, I learned, had ambushed his step mother and sister when he was 12. Try living in an 8x14 cell with that. The second was a drug kingpin who took a shotgun and blew a dudes head off for not customizing his car correctly. True stories that changed my whole perspective.

Merry almost Christmas Death. Down in Florida, at least the county jail I was in, the classification is messed up too. I was in on a minor drug charge which was 1 pill about 10 years ago. But, it was a felony. My celly was in for killing his girlfriend and the dude she was cheating on him with, but that wasn’t the worst part. Dude had taken her heart out with a spoon…..and I had to sleep a few feet from this dude. Most Florida county jails simply classify by felony or misdemeanors. Will never forget that ish.

Airway Heights is one of two prisons in WA State that is a Sexual Offender Treatment and Assessment Program facility. Their population is largely sex offenders. It's also one of the prisons that has a significant population of gang dropouts, which is not necessarily accurate because some dropouts are actually there recruiting inmates to return to the gang, join another gang, or they're there to take out a dropout. For those who don't understand prison politics, it runs pretty deep and with lots of twists.

I agree I'm in southern Ontario aswell. Like 15 years ago when I was 20 I got mischief possession of Cocaine with intent, theft of a credit card and attempted fraud. I got out on my own bond (so pay nothing unless you breach) and ended up serving 4 months. And prison here can suck too but I've never seen anyone die there. I got a full pardon 7 years ago and it's like it never happened. If I was there I'd be doing over a dime at least.

One thing these horror stories tell me is that the guards are the lynchpin in these attacks. Either negligence, complacency, or outright malevolence.
