why do I keep hitting myself at times? it is so frustrating because at times I'll jump rope for a good 50 seconds straight without stopping then I flipping miss and hit myself. Any advice? I just want to be able to be consistent
it was so easy when I was 7 years old

PvMstevo no workouts are easy
True! But dude, we can do this.
I feel ya
1. Size your rope before starting by stepping on rope and making sure it reaches your arm pit or higher.
2. Always keep knees bent
3. Get up on your toes the entire time and avoid going anything more than 2 inches* off the ground
4. Jumping rope is about doing less. Spin the rope using your wrists and keep movement of other parts nice and tight.
5. Start with 3-5 min a day to avoid overexertion or injury
*correction
Thank you bro
Step 1: a myth and misinformation.
@Free [He] based on what? Just a 'no' is your argument... How about experts who are 33x champions at jump rope that also told me it is wrong. It should not be arm pit height.
@Free [He] wtf
3: more than 2 inches*

I've been struggling so far, so today I watched this tutorial, then I recorded myself as I jumped. Lo & behold, a personal discovery! The difference between this dude and my jump was night and day - I thought I kept my arms on the side closed enough and moved only my wrists, when in reality my forearms were opened wide and I was flapping like an awkward chicken. As soon as I corrected my form, it was smooth-sailing. To think I almost gave up and ignored my rope for 3 weeks.
This makes us so happy to hear!! So glad you didn't give up. Keep doing the thing!

You have no idea how excited I am to find a channel dedicated to jumping rope! I just started jumping rope as a regular exercise and I love how efficient it is. I was out here in the hot Florida sun for 2 hours trying to do a fast walk when I could get a better workout with jumping rope in 10 minutes. I'm hooked!

Happy to hear you made some adjustments, keep doing the thing!
I just started jumping rope as a form of cardio, but my cousin was telling me that I was doing the butt kick and not holding the rope properly; That's what got me here. I was just doing it to move my body, in the spur of the moment sort of thing one does, so I didn't realize my form was all wrong.
I always thought skipping was easy untill I decided to try for myself.
I'm now disappointed by myself.
Keep. at. it!!!

I’m like 17, a good all around athlete and I can’t get this simple thing down. After like 5 jumps it always hits a part of me and I mess up. I watched quite a few videos on jumping rope and none of them worked for me. I couldn't do one single rep. I watched this video, went outside and did sets of 20 just now for the first time ever and it felt awesome. The most critical bit of advice in this video is jumping low and standing on the balls of your feet (like you're wearing heels). If your feet aren't in the "heels" position, you are flat footed and the rope will crash into your legs. Also, no video has mentioned this but your first time you should be jumping on concrete. The rope hits the ground right before your legs, on something like grass, the rope bounces too high and ends up hitting your legs whereas there is less friction on concrete.
Glad you got it! Use caution jumping on concrete! It's really hard and can hurt your body if you aren't prepared for it.
Everything was correct until the last sentence. Concrete will have more friction than the grass and exactly why it will not bounce back as much.
Thank you so much bro,ive been grinding for like 1 week 2 hours a day just to get it done perfectly and here i am 200 skips a day.Rookie numbers but better done than never plus i weight almost 330 lbs so 200 is a good amount for me.
probably the best video on you tube ..worth watching it
You guys are awesome. I started jumping rope a few months ago and I love it. I'm still a beginner, but your videos are a tremendous help.
Thanks for your support, glad our channel is helping out! Happy skipping and let us know if you have any questions!
bought my first jump rope in years and this video was so useful. the length of my rope was all wrong and once I fixed it the jumping came easier.
Best explanation and video on your tube for jumping rope so far.
Kershal Ramchurren - appreciate you!
Thanks I’m 15 and have never been able to jump rope I wanna get into it for cardio with my calisthenics
This was very helpful. Seems like a simple thing but I was doing it all wrong and struggling. This made a big difference for me.
The first time I practiced skipping rope was a year and a half ago, the first thing I did before I started exercising was watching this video, and now I can jump more than 200 times easily, thank you man.
Not me eating cake and nodding my head at the same time he's jumping. LOL
It really works guys. I have been flat footing and locking knees all my life and couldn't jump rope. I just saw this video and tried again and I could. Now, all I need is practice so that I can excel in it.
I've watched 4 or 5 jump rope videos for basic instructions on how to do it. I was frustrated and about to just not ever give the jumping rope a chance. All of them just skipped to intermediate instruction in my opinion. You've done an awesome job breaking it down from the start. Much thanks
Thank you so much for the adjusting the rope length tip, much more effective. On the toes with bent knees, got it.
Since I started jump roping daily, since school's shut down due to corona I've packed on nearly 2kg of muscle. I went from 95 to 100lbs at 5'2, and I do an average of 1500-2000 reps a day haha. Got the cross jump and double jump down, after practicing every single day for like 30 mins lol.

bro u r great because jumping rope increase my stamina for running Thanks to all...😊😊😊😍😍😍😘😘😘
Ritik Tiwari - It'll work!
The hardest thing is resisting pushing yourself at the beginning. Start out every-other day giving your body time to get use to it for a couple weeks an then increase frequency an duration. Take your time on the most important thing, the Foundation pays off Big-time! Listen to your body! A little soreness is good! Too much soreness ignored leads to injuries. A day or two off per week (not 2 days in a row) will get ya farther than driving every day not taking time for recovery or maintenance. 🙏🏼

Oh man, after a couple of weeks of jumping I thought I was advancing, but when I tried to move on to the boxer skip I realized I was doing the regular bounce wrong (I was double bouncing). I corrected to one jump per rotation today and man the workout kicked my ass and I'm back to sucking again. On the bright side, I gained a lot of stamina over the past couple of weeks. Back to the drawing board I guess. I think I was jumping too high today while trying to get the proper rhythm down and man I can feel it in my abs and legs after a 30 min workout (6 x 5min sets). I can see how one could get shredded doing this 5 times per week. I had my calorie deficit dialed in before I started jumping rope, so this is going to throw my weight loss program into hyperdrive.
You are doing all the right things! When I (dan) started jumping rope I could barely go for more than 15 consecutive seconds and can now do almost every trick. It WILL happen with time !
when its electricfied
My problem is I can do all Dan said, jump small jumps, single jumps, everything except I trip over the rope after about 20 jumps- I don't want to do it but it happens, is it fatigue ? I am about 90 kgs of weight, so that is a lot of weight to be jumping

@@JumpRopeDudes aye cap'n. I stuck through with it and now I've found the rhythm. Can do 20 in a row before tripping up and hitting 300-500 skips a day. 👍🏻 Strangely enough, any footwear at all worsens it while barefoot works like magic. I feel more connected to the floor and trip way less than I do with shoes (10rep max). . What could be happening? 🤔
