My mate Neil Burgess and I continue upgrading the suspension on his 2007 BMW Mini Cooper S rally car. Having refurbished the rusty subframe and re-assembled it with new increased caster bushes and adjustable camber strut tops we find out that the back of the hubs now clash with the subframe so once marked out everything has to come back off and I have to get cracking with some modifications…

Edd is great but the production team also deserves a huge shoutout - a show of this magnitude on youtube is no small job. Bloody excellent work and with such a short turnaround time.

Guess the original video got a copyright claim for the music (my guess is the 11:45 part that I think I remember there was a well known music in there and now is changed) and edd reuploaded it in order to avoid somebody to rob his well earned money.
Well, the music would have been someone elses effort and the source of their hard earned money. The music industry needs to make it easier to license content for inclusion in new content. If they made it inexpensive and easy like an iTunes purchase to add to a 'new work' I think they could create another revenue model...but I wasn't consulted.
@@tgxperience 15 seconds of background music shouldn't allow anybody to snatch ALL the revenue of a 30 minute video. I would understand if they get a proportional part ( i.e a 0,5%) but not all the money.
@@Dolmeca_the_Knight 15 Seconds is past the length allowed for a sample which is 8 seconds, after that point you have to obtain a license from the publisher and record label which can be a nightmare as they slant it entirely in their favour.
Plus as shown by other channels UA-cam will demonetize your video's for violations of their policies which do include copyright infringement ( a joke bearing in mind how many channels are based on illegally uploaded content) and thus Edd and Imogen probably made the choice to edit and re upload to avoid that happening.
@@darreng745 Yes, that's probably the reason, but I think is not fair for the copyright holder (I did not say the musician because sometimes they don't own the rights) to snatch all the money from a video for 8 second of background music. I. E. The 8bit guy in his secondary chanel "8 bit keys", made a video showing the features of a synth keyboard. At one point he performed a cover of the beberly hills cop theme to show how similar that synth sounded to the original used to compose that song; and the video got demonetized, I mean, all the revenue of that video went to the copyright holder, but the claim didn't come from Axel F (the original author) or his musical seal; the copyright claim came from a shitty band that makes covers; they said he robbed their cover when you clearly see the 8 bit guy performing the cover in the video. I mean, the copyright claim system of youtube is broken.
Got all excited for a new episode, then I started to wonder why it looked so familiar. Glad I wasn't the only one!
If you are going to form metal on the upper tower like that, and you don't have a die to do the initial forming, tack weld the piece roughly in place and then hammer form it instead of trying to hold it in place while hammering. You will have to use slightly stronger/longer tacks, but turn the heat down on your MIG welder so that the welds stand up instead of penetrating the metal of both of the pieces. That way, when you cut the tack welds you won't remove much metal on the pieces you are welding.
I do not mind this upload from King Edward, reminds me that one more episode is on the way, Cheerio!!!

I found this episode very interesting Edd. I see this so much on restorations that things aren’t the same both sides and you came up with the same view as me that went it’s bolted down on a jig at the factory it all lines up but doesn’t necessarily look right to the eye. Great video once again.

Enjoying the show. In the first video of the mini it looks to me, that the thread in the subframe/polybushbracket had to be cleaned with a tap, as the Electric wrench already had a hard time before it touched the bracket with the polybush.
You definatly need a short introsong as the old wheelerdealer intro is running in the back of my head in each beginning in these videos. I love you are doing your own show now, and that we are getting all the details with along, that i have missed alot. Great you are back again and going on strong.

If that subframe cracks in service, it will probably be where the top mounting connects to the upright pieces. There's a stress concentration there.
Have no fear - a pukka rally car spends most of its time on its roof in a ditch, so the subframe won't have time to break... 🙃

Only getting to see this now and I simply can't fathom this at all, powerflex would surely have had a design process for those bushes and should surely have accounted for the extra castor and the fouling on the subframe they surely can't just expect everyone to cut their cars to bits for their product to work, that astounds me

People don't realise that cars in the UK drop in price to anything from £500 to £1,000 for an older car. New parts like the aforementioned sub frame at £800 is a huge cost.
In other countries, this car would likely cost 5x as much.

Edd. why didn't you reinforce the cantilevered mounts points on the arms that you cut and modified while you were at it? Those 90-degree angles are crack propagation points. Unless there is some clearance issue, a rounded reinforcements should be added to the arms.
