38 year old dad of 3 here. would love love LOVE to see you guys thoughts/strats on healthy food/meal preps for your kids. mine are 1, 2.5 and 4, and it’s difficult to get them to eat healthy! i’m worried about the processed junk im putting in their bodies.
I wanna be better for my Dad, and my brother. Been a rough year, but they've both always been there when I needed 'em, and I've gotta return the favor.
Staying fit for my son (another one is on his way) is 100% my main drive for training. Trying to get 3/4 sessions a week and doing your Home Gym Plan just now. Best fitness channel on UA-cam! Love you dudes. So glad your cancer wasn't a bad case also. I lost my brother to it in 2019. Which is another reason to stay fit too.
Buff Dudes literally changed my life not long after I became a Dad 6 years ago. Dropped 50 lbs., cut my anxiety and depression out almost entirely. Not only do I feel better physically, I was glad to feel like my old self again mentally and am able to give my kid the best version of myself.
My dad died of skin cancer this year. He didn't catch it in time and it traveled to his brain, back, stomach and lungs. Get checked everyone and wear sunscreen. Thanks for the message.
Start small. I love this advice. I see a lot of men and women bite off huge workouts early on and hate how recovery feels. Take it small, enjoy the process.
Man, I love the buff dudes. Over the years. I find that it's easy to find videos to get you started but your content has helped me maintain, which I think is waaaaay more challenging. Realistic and achievable.
Had the exact type of skin cancer on my nose, they removed it with Mohs Surgery on the NHS (so it was free, yay!) it's a really impressive treatment. I'd encourage everyone to stay vigilant and wear sun screen. The doctor to told me if you come home from being somewhere sunny on holiday and friends ask, "did you even go away?" that means you've done a good job at protecting your skin in the sun!
Thanks for sharing about the skin cancer and the importance of regular checkups! It's something that a lot of men don't do. Glad to hear they were able to take care of it
Another great video. The message summed up in one phrase, "You're lying to yourself." I love it when you guys pair the fitness and the food information. You fellas are also upping your graphics game.
Thanks Dudes for this video. Being 45, one 9-year child, keeping myself in good shape is key. Any workout is welcome, from crossfit to gardening, anything anytime.
I love this! This channel is so head and shoulders above most fitness channels delivering quality real content from real men doing awesome things! Thank you for years of building us all up!!
I realized I needed to make a change to improve my quality of life a few years ago. I was definitely lying to myself when I said that I didn't have time. You guys have always encouraged me to remain committed to bettering myself and my health!
Being a first time dad with a 5 month old, I have been lifting at 5:30am while my wife and baby girl sleep..building a home gym has been the best investment! Couldn’t agree more about minimizing the overly processed foods..let’s normalize the “dad bod” that’s fit and healthy!!
My daughter just turned two yesterday. 😎👍🏻 It's going fast, so I'm trying to take no moments with her for granted and also trying to be a role model. We both eat healthy together, she sees me having fun exercising and joins me sometimes, and we both try to go to the park together every day. :)
I want to thank you guys. Besides the business aspect and hobby and whatever your channel is I think it`s helping people doing better with their fitness and lifestyle ... it`s important that people like you make content. thanks
Great advice and glad you're ok dude. Having 2 kids myself at toddler and starting school age ive noticed the big difference working out has made. I worked out the entire time, but had to stop while I had some checkups for my heart, so for about 4 months didn't work out at all - and the difference it made to my mood, anxiety, stress, but also my overall health - I started to get all sorts of problems, id catch more colds, stuff that didn't hurt started hurting. The takeaway is: Keep working out, keep up the strength training, keep up the cardio - High intensity training is great. Stay strong for them.
One of my main issues after the first and then the second was not feeling it when I finally have my own time which was weird not feeling that workout drive and felt like I was on autopilot when at the gym. Still trying to get that drive back. Love your Buff Dad vids. Need more of them!
This was a really cool video. This is something that has played on my mind since I became a Dad and sometimes it does keep anxious. It’s good to see a really head-on, transparent discussion. Thank you
Great video with plenty of great advice. With 2 boys now myself it's something that I have been working on last few years to try keep myself as healthy and strong as I can
Hey brother. Thanks for this. I know you mentioned the 5x5 training plan. What are your thoughts on German volume training and compared to the 5x5. Currently deciding between which of the two to start for the next 3months 🍻
As a dad of a 1 year old and 3 year old I get zero sleep, but still make it a priority to get up at 430am and get a workout in no matter what 😅it's the only thing that keeps me going I believe
I'm a student myself. I workout every other day high intensity workouts combining botb calisthenics and metcon workouts. I would eat whatever my mom cooks me and I still don't get fat. Will the advices/hacks mentioned benefit any people of any age regardless? Anyways, great video as always.
I'm a bit older; the kids in our friend group are now in jr. high. As far as dad health goes, there are STARK differences between people who all more or less looked similarly healthy in their 20s; it totally pays to keep active and eat right. Some of us have high BP and type II DM, and others have completely clear bloodwork and look 10 years younger than their age. A lot of it is setting an expectation of what "normal" is... once the kids came everything went out the door for a lot of people and it took them a while to get back on track... some never did.
People without time do exist. I always feel so sad when I think about my uncle's life. His wife has tons of health problems, the major one being a heart condition so she can't help much in the house and is mostly bedridden. They have 4 children, 3 of which have ADHD or autism. My uncle simply doesn't have enough time in a day as the main provider and full time parent to the kids. His house is a smelly mess and his health just keeps declining because the man simply doesn't have enough hours in a day. And the saddest part is: those kids will never reproduce or do anything to make him proud. He is simply creating a safe environment for them in which they will "live" for as long as my uncle can care for them after which they will be put in all kinds of institutions where they will be depressed and anxious.
3 kids under 5 and 60 hour work weeks, no I don't have time but that's why I like how physically demanding my job is. I get a pretty good workout at work. Could cut back on the sweets though.
Congratulations on your biopsy results! I'm glad everything came back a-ok. Well done for being proactive, I'll take a leaf out of your book. Stay buff!
Just reinforcing the message. I ignored a pimple that wouldn't go away, my wife finally gets me to go to the doctor. It's cancer. 5 operations later it is finally gone but if i had got it taken care of earlier maybe i would have only needed 1.
When in doubt consider ABCDE. ABCDE stands for asymmetry, border, color, diameter and evolving. Go sooner than later to get things checked. Your future self will thank you.
Kind of easy for guys like this guy who's already starting with a mesomorph physique. Not taking away anything from the hard work that he and others like him do to stay in great shape as they get older But genetics definitely play a role here. It's a different life for the ectomorph and the endomorph.
Next time you have a patch of cancer, if you ever do, mix baking soda and coconut oil and make a cream. Works like a charm and you won’t have to get cut. Then forever, use coconut oil as a moisturizer every day.
I love that the Buff Dudes humor really hasn’t changed in the last 12+ years.

Onya Hudson 👍 great message there, not just for Dad's, but everyone should be striving to include these values and principles in their day to day

Congrats man, this is the news people like to see

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙏🏻
so sorry to hear this dude, you mentioning this may be enough to kick someone in the butt enough to go and get something checked out so thank you.
Sorry to hear that man. This just inspired me to book my first appointment with a dermatologist.
🙏

Fine! I'll call the doctor. I needed this reminder. Thank you
This deserves more views. ❤ also linking to free programs, respect.
If I was a dad I would exercise to stay healthy for my kids
I want to inspire my children to love health, sports, and fitness like their dad (me). Would love a video on that topic.

11:04 and an honorable mention to wear sunscreen when the UV index is higher than 2
Out in the Southwest, or higher elevation, good idea to just wear daily even in Winter.
