Good job Matt. I used the same seed from you for my front lawn which is partly shady, on my renovation earlier this year. Really pleased with the results and regularly receive comments on how good it looks. Not sure about that roller though!! lol
Looks wicked mate… gotta be happy with that progress! I bought your all American dark and fertiliser bundle a while back but house renovation has kept me out the garden… gutted I haven’t started my lawn renovation
Do you recommend germinating seeds, soaking for a few (5-7) days, in lower Fairfield county Connecticut ? Will have to mix the damp germinated soil with dry ingredients...use Peat moss? Fertilizer? Please advise. I have a very bumpy, un-level side lawn as had to dig up yard to install water draining Cultech systems. So, will order about 20 yards of topsoil...I have about 5500 square feet of lawn/yard area that I will resoil and reseed. Further, any need to mix in sand? Lots of rocks, both big and small, in yard....Connecticut tings' 😊 Thanks.
Hi Matt, I’m a big fan of your videos and they’re always really helpful. I was after some advice if possible I have a very large bare patch at the back of my garden, due to shade and thorns growing up through the ground creating a bush which has now been removed. The soil is soft and easlily turned Also a large bare patch which gets plenty of sun but the ground is very dry What would you suggest about prepping the ground before sowing seed with a pre seed fertiliser I have scarified and plan to aerate the entire lawn but unsure on these large bare patches, especially the bone dry patch Thanks
Hi Andy for dry patches try the wetting agent 👍 can help eater penetration especially for dry patch gardenlawncareguy.com/shop/fertiliser/lawn-wetting-agent/
@@GardenLawncareGuy brilliant thank you! This won’t have any interference with me renovating my lawn at the same time? Hey mate I followed your channel in the spring and redid my lawn which looked amazing when done! However mid to late summer weeds started growing and I couldn't cope with removing them manually. What weed treatment do you recommend? Unfortunately your videos don't seem to cover the topic of maintenance/weeding. Help appreciated :D
@@GardenLawncareGuy do you think it will be ok to apply in October? I want to avoid children and pets there so it would be good to sort it now and not in the spring but instructions say April to September!
@@GardenLawncareGuy hey , I use this too and it’s the best out there to control the weeds. Used it before overseeding with the Hurrel premiership grass I bought from you . Wish I could send the pictures somewhere so you can see that grass.
Hey mate , just seeded all american grass seed a couple of weeks ago but its not as full as your video. Would you recommend i wait or do you think i should overseed in the gaps? Just didnt want to walk over the lawn as its quite fresh. Many thanks
Hi Matt, I've been binging your videos for weeks and started my lawn renovation. I've applied roundup to kill the weeds and grass, forked over and leveled the soil. I bought the multipurpose seed and 696 fertiliser from A1 Lawns. Can I put the 696 fertiliser and grass seed at the same time? I noticed you put it at the same time but the instructions often say to leave it for a week. Would love to hear your advice!
For new lawns I put it down before but for overseeding I like to do it at the same time so the existing grass doesn't grow too quickly before the seeds establish
Preference really, the fescues can be cut pretty short so would take a close mow but because of the shade and lower light I'd like to see it kept longer
Have you considered Daniel Hibberts method of covering the newly seeded lawn with garden fleece material to protect the seed from birds and to encourage seed germination ? just asking as I followed his method when seeding an area that was previously a flower bed adjacent to my lawn and I was very pleased with the result.
@@GardenLawncareGuy I let mine dry thoroughly and folded them up ready for future use, I think that they cost 75p a meter in length by approx 2 meters in width, maybe less if you have a trade supplier, I got mine from a regular retail garden centre, maybe have a look at some of Daniels videos he explains it much better than I can 😃
Yep. I washed mine down with the hose while on the washing line. Then let the wind blow the dry to use again. Mine are currently on the front lawn stopping the birds eating the seed from over seeding last week but have a feeling now the weather has turned it will need another refurbishment come April as it may have got a little cold overnight for the seed to gore successfully. So impressed with the American Green think I’m likely to kill the front off and start again come April.
3:09 Greetings from the States. I'm all about watching them Brits do their thing with lawn renovations. In US, it's all about that 100% kentucky bluegrass or perennial ryegrass... What's the deal with Brits using leftover grass seeds? I mean, those seed mixes usually got some whack-ass grass breeds in 'em. The only decent thing I see in that mix is the ryegrass. Try rolling with 100% perennial ryegrass seed, man. You won't believe how dope your lawn gonna look, especially when you pair it up with some top-notch fertilizers. Trust me, you gonna be blown away!
That's a good shout actually I will do a full video on that with the tools etc but the seed and pre seed is just over 50 here gardenlawncareguy.com/shop/bundle-deals/shade-grass-seed-fertiliser-bundle/
Could I ask your advice? I am just about to spend a bit of money on white pebbles to put in a small board right around the my newly sowed lawn. Next year I am planning on using iron products probably from a sprayer. Is this a bad idea? Will I end up with brown stones? Will I be able to manage the product to keep it off the pebbles? Many thanks Paul

Thanks Peter glad you had some great results - it is a really nice mix. Yeah the roller is an antique!!
Guessing the balloons are bird scarers. Would you recommend seeding blankets? Didn't have much luck with cds on poles to scare the birds off.
Awesome video Matt. Really love the colour on that grass, just after two weeks as well!

how many days after i over seed can i cut the grass. i have some existing grass still present so it grows at a different rate. thanks.

Just overseed do etc just signs of new grass coming through used pre seed fertiliser should I be putting anything else on now
Thanks David, no just let it grow and keep it watered (if needed)

When you sprinkle seed on the bare patches do you have to rake it in or anything? Or will it just grow if it's left on top?
Light rake into soil will be great
When I seeded my lawn I put out sticks with bags to scare the birds. But they used them as perches lol
Ha ha they are smart!
Hi Matt, have you ever tried pre germinating grass seed to speed things up?
What lawnmower are you using. Thank you

I would say balloons on metal is for birds. stops the bird landing due to movement on the balloon.
👍
With a project like this, wouldn't it been better to just start from turf?
Matt, there’s that myth with just throwing seed down it won’t grow what’s your take on that as you’ve done that for the spots at the end of the vid?
