Awesome. My cistern was overflowing with water for days onto the roof of my garage. No idea of what to do...until I saw this clip. Managed to locate where on the water pipe I needed a screwdriver to stop the water supply. I finally stopped the water! Phew!!😅 Thank you so much. You literally saved a life, as times are tough, and money is in very short supply!!
Thanks for this. I fixed my flush. Made a new membrane out of a dog food bag. Now it flushes like brand new. Saved myself a fortune calling out a plumber. Happy days. Feeling smug😉
Very helpful video, so I hope you don't mind me pointing out that those aren't Mole grips that you're using: they're normally referred to as water pump pliers. 'Mole grips' was a trade name for a type of self-locking pliers.
Thanks for this, helped me do my toilet today myself without paying for a plumber, and drawing around acetate for template worked a treat to get flush working, thanks :)
No comment as to the type of replacement. .. Dudley Turbo 88 ? And (assuming it is ) how you can replace the washer on that WITHOUT taking off the main body.
When you take the flush pipe away from the back of the pan check that the three holes in the inlet side of the pan(where the flush pipe goes in are not blocked)common in hard water areas
I guess you siliconed the siphon in because the bottom rubber washer seemed a bit rotten. Why not just replace the washer? When someone needs to replace that siphon, they'll have to force it from that silicone glue!
No need for silicon they self seal. I think because it’s a Dudley Turbo that when it fails again you can pull the yellow pin to remove the diaphragm, they just made it solid but you wouldn’t want to try to remove it if need be. 🤢✌🏻
With this type you just unclipped yellow plug .. I did to change syphon from down pipe . Got new syphon ..and fitted back with the clip . But still didn't work properly . The handle lever was too short ( should pull straight up )and pulled plunger at an angle from the syphon ..this wore out washer znd damaged the down pipe .top .very slightly .the new syphon o ring allowed bit of air so stopped vacuum..yanking handle still. So put bit of margarine or silcone gel around top of syphon to down pipe and ..hey presto ..it worked ..!! Saved me from taking cistern off as it was enclosed behind tiling box section. If that helps
I have no screw to shut water off and if close the main cold water supply all the cold taps has no water supply but all the flush tanks water only reduces and does not fully closes any solution to that ??
Pair of cowboys, talk about making a meal of it. I suggest advising people to turn the water off first at the start, saddle up the horses, Frank and Jesse James, and ride on out of town.
Surely at 2:16 you shouldn't be able to pell the nut straight over the washer ? How is it going to tighten up on it ? Shouldn't there be a blue plastic 'stiff' backing washer that crushes the conical black seal as you tighten the nut ? Admittedly as you tighten the black washer it will crush and expand and is unlikely to slip through the nut but to be safe I'd have included the blue washer.
those who disliked I'd love to know why they did so? If you have the knowledge and confidence of how to do this procedure then why are you waching.🚾 Thanks for the info now I can go for a sh*t at last before I explode💥 😷
My flush is poor! Cracked my toilet bowl 🚽 2 weeks ago so got that replaced now my syphon isn’t working properly after waching this I am going to replace it myself. Wish me luck 😂
Also if you have recently changed the flushing system in your toilet check that you do not have a double trap toilet. If you have one of these a conventional toilet flush will make it look like your toilet is blocked.
If I didn’t have a wet vac, I would’ve siphoned the water of in the cistern instead of using a jug. Your “mole grips” are actually called water pump pliers.
@MrMeltedwellies hi so yeh got the job done was a right kerfuffle tbh the job overall was quite easy but heres what happened. I went and bought a new flusher the day before i started the work i didn't know there were different sizes never seen one in my 38 year life 🤣 so obviously take mine out realise the new one is too big my toilet unite isnt flat at the bottom ( square shaped) like most it drops down so the part where the flusher goes is a small area so while i was cleaning out the toilet my parter went to b an q for me i told her needs to be smaller than that anyway she somehow buys a bigger one 🤦♀️ so i go try a few shops couldnt find anything but eventually found one and jobs a good en works perfect now realistically not even a 30 minute job even for someone like me with absolutely zero experience. Took me about 4 hours with running around looking for one, what made it hard aswell what my toilet unit is about 8ft in the air was awkward to get to but its done now hopefully get another 20 years out of it or more. Thanks for the video 👍
You could have saved yourselves a LOT of work. By just undoing the nut which holds the ball valve and while you're at it changed the diaphragm rubber at the same time. Also where is your overflow pipe ??
Brilliant.. Loving the constant double entendre 😉 also is it necessary when refitting the split pin to say "oh you shit bag!" made me laugh but also showed me what to do. Thanks
Good video but i have a question i can flush the toilet but when I push the flush lever down it wont come back up by itself do you know how i can fix this?
Could've done without the double entendres. Aside from that it was ok. Very awkward way for fitting the new siphon there. Would have been easier to hook it on before lowering into place in my opinion rather than extra effort when all is locked in place. You lost me at 4:33.
Plumber replaced washer in my toilet and it still drips. He wants another £60 for labour and £70 for the innards to replace the existing one. Is that reasonable. I already paid £848 for jobs including fixing the toilet.
@@MrMeltedwellies Thanks for confirming what I suspected. They work on recommendations and because of that I booked them without a quote. All they did to fix the toilet first time was a washer change. Other jobs were shower unit replaced, tap in kit hen replaced, hot water tap in bathroom innards replaced and reattach a pip in my sink that kept coming loose. Labour for that was 4 hours at £70 per hour plus VAT.
I’m here from the lobster video. I just wanted to let you know you are suuuuuper wrong. You have to dispatch them first because of the size of them. You can do it with crabs, but lobsters are much larger and require more time. PLEASE READ THIS: do more research please!!!! Trust more people telling you what you’re doing is wrong other than just trusting yourself
+SlayerX Purington LOL ,i actually work in a school as IT manager but my job has become a bit more interesting due to redundancys and illness hence changing toilet systems (pays the bills) ATB
Just scrap that convoluted, needlessly complicated british system, and just put an American flush valve and fill valve in. ua-cam.com/video/IrMi8agdg2I/v-deo.html
Good banter lads, a quick in and out job. You won't even know I'm there love.
Glad you enjoyed it
British banter , you just can’t beat it. I we had such a thing here in New Brunswick

That is awesome!
Thanks. You gave me the confidence to fix it myself. I paid £21 for the part and £8 for Mull tool. £29 total!!! Instead of 40 labour and parts
This was really helpful mate and I was able to improvise and fix my flusher ! Cheers much appreciated
Thanks for this. I fixed my flush. Made a new membrane out of a dog food bag. Now it flushes like brand new. Saved myself a fortune calling out a plumber. Happy days. Feeling smug😉
Excellent!
how did u fix membrane?
I came here for the information, I stayed for the banter
Thank you
Love your sense of humour 😂 Ball grips, never knew they were called that 😂. Thank you for the video 👌💯
Thank you for watching and your lovely comment 😊
I asked my plumber of a neighbour to replace mine at a price of £50 now I’m doing it myself. Thanks lads 👍
perfect. Im sending my man off to BnQ to sort our downstairs loo. Gotta love UA-cam. Thanks guys
Thanks guys. Sounds like you have great crack working together. A right pair of messers, but always get the job done. (I hope 😜)

Thanks for your guidance on this.
Love the banter lads that's for the video
Tip: As a plumber, invest in a cheap siphon hose and bellows used for changing water in fish tanks. Cost less than 10 quid. Thanks for the video.
Great tip! thanks for watching
thanks! this helped me fix my toilet for less than a tenner! no plumber needed

Changed mine yesterday and it was so easy!

how many plumbers does it take to get it in the hole?
Those molegrips are a actually pipe grips. Different tool entirely.
"Mole" is a trade name 😊

could you explain this in simpler words. couldn't understand it
Great vid. Straight to the nitty gritty and funny
Thank you guys, that was a very helpful instructional video, including the funny bits ;-)
Great standup act lads LOL! Plus thanks the tutorial on change the toilet Syphon Unit!
This was very informative. Thank you.
All very "Carry on". Sid James would be proud!
Put something on the toilet seat to protect it from getting scratched by your tools. 😮😊
Can u change the tank do dual system without changing toilet bowl
yep
Thanks for the vid, replacing mine but they range from 7 inches to 10 inches. How do I know which to choose 😭
I have no screw to shut water off and if close the main cold water supply all the cold taps has no water supply but all the flush tanks water only reduces and does not fully closes any solution to that ??
can you do a video on how to stop a running toilet ?

Thanks for the info now I can go for a sh*t at last before I explode💥 😷
My problem is trying to take out the old one, was probably sealed back in the day and is stuck firm 😡
How did you do it
A friend of mine did it for me tbh, I left it to a pro 🤷♂️😀
@noelmurphy406 i see can you mabye ask him how he did it and get back back to me if you would be so kind but if not i understand
How did you get that thing in the middle off after the large nut as mine is glued with something stronger than god
How do you get the split pin out lol?
Same as anything else...
Straighten out the legs and give the middle a good tug
My flush is poor! Cracked my toilet bowl 🚽
2 weeks ago so got that replaced now my syphon isn’t working properly after waching this I am going to replace it myself.
Wish me luck 😂

The name of the toilet is called TwyFord

u missed the part where u took the things out :(
I'm looking how to fix my tank from leaking
Guys how do I adjust the water level on it? I live in a rented property so I don't want to damage it.
i think there is a adjustment on the ball cock
Any thoughts on a broken stem that is connected to the C link which is supposed to lift when handle is flushed?
Danny Fahy Cable ties should get you by to create a hook for the link arm to attach to
Not as easy as you make it look, my flush system won’t budge for me to remove it!!!!
Bidet Toilet 🙄Powerful
why did you take out the ball valve arm??
Much easier than a close couple
where to buy this replacement fulsh valve 1 1/2 inch ?
Roughly How much would this cost me to get a plumber to do this for me. Cheers
£100 at least
@@MrMeltedwellies ive bought the part gonna just go for it and give it a go. Ill let you know how it goes gonna do it today cheers

Hm. Now I have no excuses left. Dammit.
How much would a plumber charge to do this job.
You could have saved yourselves a LOT of work. By just undoing the nut which holds the ball valve and while you're at it changed the diaphragm rubber at the same time. Also where is your overflow pipe ??
This type of siphon has a built-in internal overflow.
Sorry mate. Didn't notice that. Cheers

Great video gents, especially loving the chuksbury milk pot bailing device!
nice job lads.
Anthony Redmond thanks for watching

What was the items bought to do this job??
Sack that handyman and employee a qualified plumber
Good video but i have a question i can flush the toilet but when I push the flush lever down it wont come back up by itself do you know how i can fix this?
not without looking at it sorry
Either the loo handle has scaled up or the spring in the syphon Bell has broke
@@johnbarnes4420how do you replace the spring in syphon bell?

yes it was just for fun bloody hell

Yes, the famous "builder's banter" is about as funny as herpes.
Amazing you have no leaks without using silicone caulk
What do you think the black stuff was that they plastered all around the bottom of the siphon?
What is this toilet model name
A friend of mine was charged 180 euro for this job , what's the going rate.
parts plus a bottle of wine :)
No need to have removed ball valve arm and float removal of the syphon would be possible without this
Carry on plumbing ffs! Oh Matron!!!!!
He’s not a plumber the syphon is dismantable to renew the syphon washer you don’t even have to the water off
he put the hole new loo in you dope!!!! looool
