Thanks alot sir for the teachings it has been helping me a lot. I am a welding student based in Cameroon and presently at 4G i have been following your teachings from 1G till now. Thanks alot for you have been a source of inspiration to me
Rosendo, I owe you big time brother for this welding vid - I changed up my root pass technique to the one you use (side to side) and reversed grip on the stinger (the way you hold it) and my quality of 4 G Welds SMAW shot up literally in an instance. Thank you Mate! Alex, New Zealand
I love how easy yall break it down. I just got into a school for welding and our certs will be 3-4g and if we pass those we do 6G if we fail they put us down to 1 and 2 so im watching all yalls videos i can. Also i was wondering if yall could show a 6G with Stick. I notice yall have Mig and tig but no stick
Big help 🙏 been practicing in my garage with my old man his 75 old school welder but sometimes we bump heads lol then we chug a beer about it love you pops
Cleaning and visually examining the penetration from your initial root pass on the back side of your plate is a great method of checking for lack of fusion, incomplete tie ins, and the amount of convexity of your root pass. I noticed that you neglected to mention any of these points in your video.. Didn't hear any mention of the recommended rod angle that you are using during this demonstration. Is your 7018 fill rod a 1/8th or 3/32nd electrode. However, you did cover a lot of great points in your video especially for folks starting out.
When I would mig 4f fluxcore 045 I always burned through when I stayed but the rest of the weld was beautiful and had penetration, our test was on some thin ass plate too. Can’t remember the size but I still passed even though they wanted to fail me. I retook that test 3 times and still had the same out come blew through at the start perfect the rest of the way. I like 5F the most so simple. I worked at Trinity Rail
You gotta run the root kinda cold on open fluxcore. If ya fit your plates about 3/32" land and 3/32" gap it should spush thru enough to backweld without much grinding without blowing a fatass keyhole. Yall probably tested on 5/16" or 3/8" plate if it was for railcar.
I run the dollar bill gap (1/16 for those that don't know) with feathered edges. I run my root at 120 amps while the stick is at a 45 degree angle. My roote come out perfectly but it's my fillers that are killing me because of the inconsistencies I keep having
Awesome.. and i have a ❓, don't you get any puddle drops on you face that way? Or how do you avoid the puddle drops? Thanks and all I've learned, i learned it watching your videos guys.. From Michoacán Mexico saludos
I’m school I would always do 66-68 amps for the root, everyone else always used around 72-75 amps for there root and still got it I could never get it the key hole would open up to much and if always blow through that’s why I always ran cold and now seeing you do 85-95 blows my mind. What do you think I was doing wrong that I couldn’t control my root and how can I fix it? Thanks in advanced btw
My weld test has a back and doesn't allow grinding wheels or wire wheels. What techniques do I use for the root pass with a back plate. Please get back with me before tomorrow. If not then dont worry about it
Should I be at a certain angel when welding over head and is it bad to push instead of pulling because I notice myself getting out of place once I’m mid ways down the weld I gotta test this Friday and I’m just wondering if it bad to start off pulling and end off pushing
I wish you guys had a darker video of the welding. So it’s easier to see the motions. Also a pic of the just completed pass as well as the backside of the plate.
I was taught to whip and pause on the root pass too, but had far greater quality root passes using Rosendo's technique (side to side). You will see how clean the backside of the plate is after the root pass using this technique. I hardly have to do any grinding on the back of the joint before I am down to clean metal.
All of the 6010 slag. The cellulose coating doesn't have the same characteristics of 7018. More difficult to remove hence why on root we tend to grind metal and slap out and smooth for the next pass
Hey man....ok? You guys helped me out with this video...ok? Ok? So ok? I'm about to take my overhead test soon ok and i really appreciate that piece at around 5:50. Thank you 😎
Whats a good welding machine to practice welding at home put on pipe i bought a cheap one but doesn’t work what’s a good machine for home welding to practice on pipe

Tnx bro,,,,it's really good way to good weld!!
Bro you explained it so well 💸💸💰
this dude is definitely giving a hip pocket class 🤣
Sempurna👍👍
This account has helped me so much but how on earth do I not catch on fire on overhead no matter what I wear
Serious question, why did you not use stich method on root pass like 2g and 3g
Respect in Morocco 💙❤💪
Great tutorial bro!
Nicely done! Very well explained! Thank you
I like your video it's good....
Seems like I wasn’t the first 50 to donate. Think I was a little late watching this video
I really like your vedios keep it up
I’m taking this test at a factory nearby and I haven’t don’t this type of welding in about 3 years lol I’m nervous
My instructor is making us use 7018 for the root pass
I'm glad you made this video but for demonstration I would rather you hotpassed 7018 instead.
Great thing to donate. God bless amen. Appreciate the videos.
Si señor muy buena soldadura
Awesome.. and i have a ❓, don't you get any puddle drops on you face that way? Or how do you avoid the puddle drops? Thanks and all I've learned, i learned it watching your videos guys.. From Michoacán Mexico saludos
If your having alot fall out on you you need to shorten your arc length
Thank you Allen.. I'll keep working on it..
I would like to know why you chose to use the 6010 electrode for the hot pass. Is there an advantage to using the 6010 instead of 7018 electrode?
The 6010 is a fast freeze rod.
Ya'll doing great job 👍
I’m school I would always do 66-68 amps for the root, everyone else always used around 72-75 amps for there root and still got it I could never get it the key hole would open up to much and if always blow through that’s why I always ran cold and now seeing you do 85-95 blows my mind. To small of landing sounds like
I use around a fat 3/32 almost 1/8th land with 3/32 gap
Bro, i didn’t see your root pass both side. Did I miss or didn’t you show? Please 🙏 I was waiting for see your root pass upside

You didn't show us what your root run looked like on the reverse side (cowboy welder)
Weri good welding
You are majaro am so happy capit up very good lecher

HES GOT ALL THEM MACHINES BUT HE USE THE MILLER XMT FOR THE TEST. TEAM BLUE!!
I wish you guys had a darker video of the welding. So it’s easier to see the motions. Also a pic of the just completed pass as well as the backside of the plate.
perfect Bro
Quick question, what is the price of your school?
My welding prof is super against using anything other than whip and pause during 6010 root pass 4G. Ill try the side to side tomorrow.
I was taught to whip and pause on the root pass too, but had far greater quality root passes using Rosendo's technique (side to side). You will see how clean the backside of the plate is after the root pass using this technique. I hardly have to do any grinding on the back of the joint before I am down to clean metal.
Can you please explain what you mean when you say clean all of the “trash” out of the root?
All of the 6010 slag. The cellulose coating doesn't have the same characteristics of 7018. More difficult to remove hence why on root we tend to grind metal and slap out and smooth for the next pass
What is the brand of your welding mask??
Where did you buy that welding jacket from?
0:34 dude had an mexican and asian accent in one. Im impressed
You need to let me see what the root looks like, that’s literally the most important part of the entire process.
Hi! I would like to ask you ,where I can buy welding mask like your? Thanks!
Magnífico
I appreciate the video. God bless you all. It would be great to accept Jesus now. Live for Him.
Nice one brader
Maybe its just my machine, but I can't keep my rod lit with less than 100 amps with 1/8 rod. It just goes dark few movements in...
Great show to learn from! Maybe FR clothing ? industry requirements !!!
Rick A. Shriver its électrode rutil ????
Hey man....ok? You guys helped me out with this video...ok? Ok? So ok? I'm about to take my overhead test soon ok and i really appreciate that piece at around 5:50. Thank you 😎
Whats a good welding machine to practice welding at home put on pipe i bought a cheap one but doesn’t work what’s a good machine for home welding to practice on pipe
watch the opening , you whip it to the left look at the gap to the right
For the root must electrodes thinner?
He says "okay" so many times 🤣
Why they never show the result of the weld I’m trynna see how that root came out
Can I use 7018 for root pass?
